Book Between Rock and a Hard Place

Download or read book Between Rock and a Hard Place written by Robert Parker Mills and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-11-23 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the first fear of AIDS case tried in America. It tells the untold story of the trial that the general public heard nothing about. By telling the true story from the perspective of the lawyer who actually represented the Estate of Rock Hudson it is hoped the reader, acting as the 13th juror, will see the gross injustice done to the late actor by Christian and Rocks alleged friend, Mark Miller, as well as the court, the jury, and the press, all of which were blinded from the truth by this newly discovered disease called AIDS. Marc Christian claimed he was given a death sentence because Rock didnt tell him of his AIDS diagnosis and continued to have high risk sex with him. 25 years later Christian died not from HIV or AIDS. He was never HIV positive. How could this be if he was telling the truth that he continued having anal sex with Hudson 3 to 5 times a week for 8 months after Rock was first told he had full blown AIDS? Christian was either superhuman and they should clone his blood as a cure for AIDS, or he simply didnt tell the truth at trial, where Rock Hudson could not defend himself because Christian waited until Rock died, and found out he wasnt in his Will, before bringing his lawsuit.

Origin stories are revealed. And new Scythes emerge! There are still countless tales of the Scythedom to tell. Centuries passed between the Thunderhead cradling humanity and Scythe Goddard trying to turn it upside down. For years, humans lived in a world without hunger, disease, or death with Scythes as the living instruments of population control. Neal Shusterman—along with collaborators David Yoon, Jarrod Shusterman, Sofía Lapuente, Michael H. Payne, Michelle Knowlden, and Joelle Shusterman—returns to the world throughout the timeline of the Arc of a Scythe series. Book Drumore Echoes Stories from Upstream

Download or read book Drumore Echoes Stories from Upstream written by Tom Smith and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-11-14 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If Abner Musser hadn’t run out of sons, his neighbors say, The Buck would have been as big as Pittsburgh in another 10 years. This area in Southern Lancaster County reminds me more and more of the region just east of Lancaster. I suppose the words that condense this thought could be: Bird-In-Hand gained, Paradise lost. Quote from Robert Risk: “Death does not end all-it begins everything.” If Ma Garner heard a ruckus outside her house at night she raised her bedroom window, shot once, then opened fire with an arsenal of words that may have stung worse than the shotgun pellets. The resourceful human mind has developed to strive for the betterment of mankind, yet the human spirit has evidently never abandoned the cave. At Woodstock there were numerous drug busts, at our gathering all drugs were handed out before the meal.

Book excerpt: The Rock History Reader is an eclectic compilation of readings that tells the history of rock as it has been received and explained as a social and musical practice throughout its six decade history. The readings range from the vivid autobiographical accounts of such rock icons as Ronnie Spector and David Lee Roth to the writings of noted rock critics like Lester Bangs and Chuck Klosterman. It also includes a variety of selections from media critics, musicologists, fanzine writers, legal experts, sociologists and prominent political figures. Many entries also deal specifically with distinctive styles such as Motown, punk, disco, grunge, rap and indie rock. Each entry includes headnotes, which place it in its historical context. This second edition includes new readings on the early years of rhythm & blues and rock ‘n’ roll, as well as entries on payola, mods, the rise of FM rock, progressive rock and the PMRC congressional hearings. In addition, there is a wealth of new material on the 2000s that explores such relatively recent developments as emo, mash ups, the explosion of internet culture and new media, and iconic figures like Radiohead and Lady Gaga. With numerous readings that delve into the often explosive issues surrounding censorship, copyright, race relations, feminism, youth subcultures, and the meaning of musical value, The Rock History Reader continues to appeal to scholars and students from a variety of disciplines.

Book Virgil s Story

Download or read book Virgil s Story written by Virgil D. Mochel and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-08 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first part of the story explains how Virgil's ancestors from Europe all arrived at that small region called Woodland, Indiana. Emphasis is on what was going on in that part of each one's world to cause them to migrate to this country and eventually to that spot in Indiana. Wars, religious intolerance, and decisions by the various kings or queens were the driving forces that caused so many to leave their homelands and look for better conditions. Life on a farm during the Great Depression and World War II is described in some detail. The emotional devastation upon learning of the deaths of two brothers in that war took a heavy toll on the Mochel Family. The second part deals with the many varied experiences of Virgil and Marian as they traveled their life-journey together, up to the present time.
