Book STOL High lift Design Study

Download or read book STOL High lift Design Study written by Fred May and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The state of the art of STOL aerodynamic technology for selected lift/propulsion concepts was surveyed to identify the available test data and prediction methods in the literature. The report consists of two volumes. In Volume I important areas of technology and information necessary for the evaluation of STOL aircraft aerodynamics are listed; the aerodynamic test data and prediction methodology relevant to the deflected slipstream and externally blown flap concepts are assessed, with emphasis on the latter; an empirical method for the prediction of the longitudinal aerodynamic characteristics of externally blown flap configurations is presented; and high-lift technology for five lift/propulsion concepts is assessed in application to a medium-sized STOL transport.

Download or read book High Lift Aerodynamics written by Jochen Wild and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-02-03 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a detailed look at high-lift aerodynamics, which deals with the aerodynamic behavior of lift augmentation means from various approaches. After an introductory chapter, the book discusses the physical limits of lift generation, giving the lift generation potential. It then explains what is needed for an aircraft to fly safely by analyzing the high-lift-related requirements for certifying an aircraft. Aircraft needs are also analyzed to improve performance during takeoff, approach, and landing. The book discusses in detail the applied means to increase the lift coefficient by either passive and active high-lift systems. It includes slotless and slotted high-lift flaps, active and passive vortex generating devices, boundary and circulation control, and powered lift. Describing methods that are used to evaluate and design high-lift systems in an aerodynamic sense, the book briefly covers numerical as well as experimental simulation methods. It also includes a chapter on the aerodynamic design of high-lift systems. FEATURES Provides an understanding of the physics of flight during takeoff and landing from aerodynamics to flight performance and from simulation to design Discusses the physical limits of lift generation, giving the lift generation potential Concentrates on the specifics of high-lift aerodynamics to provide a first insight Analyzes aircraft needs to improve performance during takeoff, approach, and landing Focuses on civil transport aircraft applications but also includes the associated physics that apply to all aircraft This book is intended for graduate students in aerospace programs studying advanced aerodynamics and aircraft design. It also serves as a professional reference for practicing aerospace and mechanical engineers who are working on aircraft design issues related to takeoff and landing.

Book Fundamentals of High Lift for Future Civil Aircraft

Download or read book Fundamentals of High Lift for Future Civil Aircraft written by Rolf Radespiel and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-17 with total page 634 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reports on the latest numerical and experimental findings in the field of high-lift technologies. It covers interdisciplinary research subjects relating to scientific computing, aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, material sciences, aircraft structures, and flight mechanics. The respective chapters are based on papers presented at the Final Symposium of the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 880, which was held on December 17-18, 2019 in Braunschweig, Germany. The conference and the research presented here were partly supported by the CRC 880 on “Fundamentals of High Lift for Future Civil Aircraft,” funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation). The papers offer timely insights into high-lift technologies for short take-off and landing aircraft, with a special focus on aeroacoustics, efficient high-lift, flight dynamics, and aircraft design.

Book Study of a High lift Wing for a STOL Light Aircraft

Download or read book Study of a High lift Wing for a STOL Light Aircraft written by Daniel Montón Gimeno and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this e-project is performed a study to find a proper wing design for a STOL capable electric light aircraft. This is the continuation of the e-project 1 realized in 2017 and the main objective is to find a final wing configuration capable of performing in the conditions required for the airplane, it is to say, STOL in tight spaces, electric plane with a decent range in order to be competitive and t has to fit all the internal components. The wing has to be ready to be implement it in the final design of the prototype of the plane. The main focus of the study is to find a suitable airfoil for the airplane, which fulfils all the requirements imposed by the project, then implement this airfoil into a wing, and then perform CFD simulations to obtain data about the boundary layer performance of the wing and be able to see, if the wing would be suitable for the airplane or if it is needed more research in other to find a suitable wing, capable of performing as desired.

Book EProject Study of Passive High lift Devices for a STOL Light Aircraft

Download or read book EProject Study of Passive High lift Devices for a STOL Light Aircraft written by Guillem Valero Ramos and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis studies possible solutions regarding the increase of stall, cruise and critical landing and takeoff operation performance of a STOL light aircraft thanks to passive high lift or flow control devices. Firstly, the problem that creates the need for this thesis is discussed as to organise the goals and aim of it. Then, the state of the art is studied, and possible solutions are considered as candidates which are analysed furthermore and compared. A simulation phase ensues after a learning process of the simulation tools that should be used. The best solution candidates are then compared, and an implementation study follows with the purpose of analysing whether they will be feasible or not. This project is part of a joint effort comprising many other projects from the e-project initiative to design a fully electric STOL airplane for air urban mobility operations. Consequently, constant information sharing was performed, and meetings held with those involved with it.

This book was released on 2010 with total page 940 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aircraft is only a transport mechanism for the payload, and all design decisions must consider payload first. Simply stated, the aircraft is a dust cover. "Fundamentals of Aircraft and Airship Design, Volume 1: Aircraft Design" emphasizes that the science and art of the aircraft design process is a compromise and that there is no right answer; however, there is always a best answer based on existing requirements and available technologies.
