Book Do You Feel God Walking Beside You

Download or read book Do You Feel God Walking Beside You written by Raymond Sturgis and published by Raymond Sturgis. This book was released on 2010-07-08 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are living in difficult times, and for many of us, it has become harder than difficult. Many of us go to bed at night wondering how we made it through the day, and if tomorrow would be our last. The political climate is divisive and hateful, while the entertainment of our lives is marred with sexual harassment and fight for social justice. Still, God walks with us. Families have been serving God for generations, and like many, they too are marred with hate, vindictive fabricators. It is easy to believe in God when your friends are your family and your neighbors stand with you for peace. See, God does walk with those that try to be good. Moreover, God cannot be many things to us, only one, and that is our spiritual father. We have to rise above the threat of nuclear war, racism, sexism, and separation, so we can show the world that love is real and our faith in God is made it real. I strongly believe that world is having a hard time believing in God, because the killing of innocent in our communities and sporting events give us pause to ask, WHERE ARE YOU, GOD? God has shown himself in the Bible, and we have to show the world that God exists by showing them that he lives in us. We must improve our care and character, so we will feel good about doing right and fair to one another without being ashamed. God walks with us, the problem is, how long will God let us walk with him? iTunes and www.audible.com has the audio version of these books

Download or read book Don t Die with Your Music Still in You written by Serena J. Dyer and published by Hay House, Inc. This book was released on 2014-06-16 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2001, Dr. Wayne Dyer wrote a book called 10 Secrets for Success and Inner Peace, based on the most important principles he wanted his children to live by. Serena Dyer, one of those children, has contemplated these ideas throughout her life. "Don’t die with your music still in you" has been the most important principle for Serena: to her, it means that you don’t allow yourself to live any life other than the one you were born to live. In this book, Serena sets out to explain what it was like to grow up with spiritual parents. She touches upon all ten of her dad’s original secrets, imparting her own experiences with them and detailing how they have affected the way she approaches various situations in life. She shares stories, struggles, and triumphs—and Wayne, in turn, contributes his own perspective. This unique father-daughter collaboration will warm the hearts of all parents . . . and inspire anyone who is looking to find the "music" inside themselves.

Book excerpt: How creativity makes its way through feeling—and what we can know and feel through the artistic work of Black women Feeling is not feelin. As the poet, artist, and scholar Bettina Judd argues, feelin, in African American Vernacular English, is how Black women artists approach and produce knowledge as sensation: internal and complex, entangled with pleasure, pain, anger, and joy, and manifesting artistic production itself as the meaning of the work. Through interviews, close readings, and archival research, Judd draws on the fields of affect studies and Black studies to analyze the creative processes and contributions of Black women—from poet Lucille Clifton and musician Avery*Sunshine to visual artists Betye Saar, Joyce J. Scott, and Deana Lawson. Feelin: Creative Practice, Pleasure, and Black Feminist Thought makes a bold and vital intervention in critical theory’s trend toward disembodying feeling as knowledge. Instead, Judd revitalizes current debates in Black studies about the concept of the human and about Black life by considering how discourses on emotion as they are explored by Black women artists offer alternatives to the concept of the human. Judd expands the notions of Black women’s pleasure politics in Black feminist studies that include the erotic, the sexual, the painful, the joyful, the shameful, and the sensations and emotions that yet have no name. In its richly multidisciplinary approach, Feelin calls for the development of research methods that acknowledge creative and emotionally rigorous work as productive by incorporating visual art, narrative, and poetry.

Book excerpt: Just as before, these poems reflect my thoughts upon my own experiences as well as my observations on the experiences we all encounter at each phase of our lives. Many of these poems, unlike the first effort, are more recent, and therefore image events closer to the present. This time, too, the poems are less chronological, whereas I felt the first poems should remain mostly in the order in which they were written over fifty years. I do not see poems as sad so much as thoughtful and reflective commentaries, very often wry and tongue-in-cheek. The poems in this book are mostly like that.

Book excerpt: When it comes to Bible translations, readability and reliability are what count; and on both counts, the original JERUSALEM BIBLE stands alone. A product of the age of the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965), THE JERUSALEM BIBLE (published in 1966) was the first truly modern Bible for Catholics. Using definitive original language texts such as the Dead Sea Scrolls, biblical scholars of L'École Biblique in Jerusalem produced a meticulously accurate, wonderfully readable French translation of the complete canon of Scripture (La Bible de Jérusalem). From this French original came the English edition, edited by renowned Bible scholar Alexander Jones. For all the people around the world who are discovering or revisiting the mysteries contained in the Scriptures, only a clear, understandable Bible translation will do. With language as exquisite but more modern than the King James Version, THE JERUSALEM BIBLE is the one they can trust.
