Download or read book Jump written by Larry Miller and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2022-01-18 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most successful Black businessmen in the country, who has led Nike’s Jordan Brand from a $200M sneaker company to a $4B global apparel juggernaut, tells the remarkable story of his rise from gangland violence to the pinnacles of international business. Jump tells Larry Miller’s journey from the violent streets of West Philly in the 1960s to the highest echelons of American sports and industry. Miller wound up in jail more than once, especially as a teenager. But he immersed himself in the educational opportunities, eventually took advantage of a Pennsylvania state education-release program offered to incarcerated people, and was able to graduate with honors from Temple University. When revealing his gangland past caused him to lose his first major job opportunity, Miller vowed to keep it a secret. He climbed the corporate ladder with a number of companies such as Kraft Foods, Campbell’s Soup, and Jantzen, until Nike hired him to run its domestic apparel operations. Around the time of Michael Jordan’s basketball retirement, Nike Chairman Phil Knight made Larry Miller president of the newly formed Jordan Brand. In 2007 Paul Allen convinced Miller to jump to the NBA to become president of the Portland Trailblazers, one of the first African-Americans to lead a professional sports team, before returning to Jordan Brand in 2012. All along, Miller lived two lives: the secret of his violent past haunted him, invading his days with migraines and his sleep with nightmares of getting hauled back to jail. More than a rags-to-riches story, Jump is also a passionate appeal for criminal justice reform and expanded educational opportunities for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people across the United States. Drawing on his powerful personal story, as well as his vast and well-connected network, Miller plans to use Jump as a launching point to help expand such opportunities and to provide an aspirational journey for those who need hope.

Book Assembly Language Step by Step

Download or read book Assembly Language Step by Step written by Jeff Duntemann and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-03-03 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The eagerly anticipated new edition of the bestselling introduction to x86 assembly language The long-awaited third edition of this bestselling introduction to assembly language has been completely rewritten to focus on 32-bit protected-mode Linux and the free NASM assembler. Assembly is the fundamental language bridging human ideas and the pure silicon hearts of computers, and popular author Jeff Dunteman retains his distinctive lighthearted style as he presents a step-by-step approach to this difficult technical discipline. He starts at the very beginning, explaining the basic ideas of programmable computing, the binary and hexadecimal number systems, the Intel x86 computer architecture, and the process of software development under Linux. From that foundation he systematically treats the x86 instruction set, memory addressing, procedures, macros, and interface to the C-language code libraries upon which Linux itself is built. Serves as an ideal introduction to x86 computing concepts, as demonstrated by the only language directly understood by the CPU itself Uses an approachable, conversational style that assumes no prior experience in programming of any kind Presents x86 architecture and assembly concepts through a cumulative tutorial approach that is ideal for self-paced instruction Focuses entirely on free, open-source software, including Ubuntu Linux, the NASM assembler, the Kate editor, and the Gdb/Insight debugger Includes an x86 instruction set reference for the most common machine instructions, specifically tailored for use by programming beginners Woven into the presentation are plenty of assembly code examples, plus practical tips on software design, coding, testing, and debugging, all using free, open-source software that may be downloaded without charge from the Internet.

Book Downhill ski technique step by step

Download or read book Downhill ski technique step by step written by Janos Koranyi and published by Janos Koranyi. This book was released on 2019-04-20 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is especially written for all insecure skiers in the first place. If you think, that you are a beginner or an intermediate skier, this book is thought to be the right choice for you. But everyone, interested in understanding, developing, learning and teaching downhill skiing can benefit from this work. I have been working on this material since 2010 and the work is still going on. My basic point is, that you should prepare yourself, before you go to ski. It is too late to make your mental preparation on the slopes, this should be done at home before. You should be able to imagine for yourself what you must do in order to do it right or as good as possible. This imagination should not be just a picture! It should be like a whole movie, with many of your senses involved, just like in a detailed dream. Like, if you can imagine the whole ski-turn with many, clear details, what basic movements you have to do, how it should feel in your body, how it should look like, how it should change during the development of your turn, this will prepare your correct movements in the real life. But this must happen step by step, starting by the easiest skills and developing further when you have tried out the first steps first. For this reason I have divided the material in 3 different levels. You will need quite a long time for this. So please be patient, take your time, work with my book, do not just read it! Understanding and explaining skiing is complicated and it takes time. My suggestion is to read carefully, take several breaks and think carefully about the sections you find difficult to understand. If you are a beginner, start reading the book as soon as possible before your start your skiing. You can stop reading after the beginner level and go skiing on green and blue slopes.
