Book Legends Lives and Loves Along the Inside Passage

Download or read book Legends Lives and Loves Along the Inside Passage written by Dudley (Chris) Christian and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-05-12 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: HARDCOVER So have a care, or petition an inquiry. Remember how certain individuals were discriminated against by upper ship officers, who let this continue for years, without understanding. Feel the disgust as the injustice exacerbated as the number of personnel increased. Probe the incompetent union reps who pretended indifference and compounded the problems. Who am I? The first Black employee to be Chief Engineer, who was assaulted by a pro boxer, who the company never charged. The Racial Discrimination are documented inside the pages of this book. The details of abuse, oppression, and distress endured while working the ships as they sailed thru the waters of BC. As Bligh made Christian forever relevant with the Bounty and Bligh's mistreatment of his crew, so too has this company made my name relevant with the Ferries, where I continued to suffer without an advocate to my claims for retribution... and thereby I became, from January 1969 until June 2004, the "BLACK mark on their Lily White Sides"

Book Steps Into the Blessed Life

Download or read book Steps Into the Blessed Life written by Frederick B. Meyer and published by . This book was released on 1896 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: F. B. Meyer gifts Christian believers with this guidance on attaining spiritual union with God, by being virtuous and achieving victory over sin and wrongdoing. Drawing upon the Bible and the life of Christ as a wellspring of spiritual knowledge, Meyer instructs the reader on becoming a better and more effective Christian, living true to the example set by Jesus. Drawing on the inner strength conferred by the timeless Holy Spirit, practicing virtuous deeds and enshrining a moral code in one's day-to-day behavior are two qualities of the Christians seeking to live the blessed life. Being honest with oneself about wrongheadedness and character flaws, and taking action to correct these, is likewise vital. Meyer frequently quotes passages of scripture, in particular the New Testament, to clarify the guidance given. Writing with the clearheaded and reverential style he was famous for in life, the books he wrote - be they guides for believers or Biblical biographies - remain resonant in modern times. He worked as a Baptist pastor educating thousands of believers, and channeled that experience of working with and spiritually guiding ordinary Christian people into his many written works.

In this, you will find instances of love gone good and love gone bad. You will learn of peoples and places many times like people and places you already know. As I journey back through these past experiences, I hope some of you will feel to join and relive with me in these forages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In His Steps is a religious novel which takes place in the railroad town of Raymond, and Chicago Illinois. The main character is the Rev. Henry Maxwell, pastor of the First Church of Raymond, who challenges his congregation to not do anything for a whole year without first asking: "What Would Jesus Do?" The story begins on a Friday morning when a man out of work appears at the front door of Henry Maxwell while the latter is preparing for that Sunday's upcoming sermon. Maxwell listens to the man's helpless plea briefly before brushing him away and closing the door. The same man appears in church at the end of the Sunday sermon and confronts the congregation about their lack of compassion for those like him. Upon finishing his address he collapses, and dies a few days later. Deeply moved by the events of the past week, Henry Maxwell presents a challenge to his congregation: "Do not do anything without first asking, 'What would Jesus do?'"

The book provides an integrative framework that embraces both the essential similarities and the fundamental differences among the psychotherapies. The authors explore each system's theory of personality, theory of psychopathology, resulting therapeutic process and relationship. By doing so, Prochaska and Norcross demonstrate how much psychotherapy systems agree on the processes producing change while disagreeing on the content that needs to be changed. The limitations, practicalities, and outcome research of each psychotherapy are also presented to bring both the similarities and differences to life, the authors demonstrate how the same complex psychotherapy case (Mrs. C) is formulated and treated by each system.
