Book excerpt: Ponder this a moment: Before it was proved that the world was round, could you imagine trying to convince someone that they were really living on a huge round planet spinning around the sun? People would look at you like you were crazy! What if I told you that most of us are living immersed in a thought and belief system (the ego) that is completely running the show, that is completely responsible for our suffering in many forms? Crazy, right? Whats crazy is the stress, anxiety, jealousy, insecurity, worry, depression, anger, guilt, loneliness, etc. that this thought and belief system causes as the ego bogs us down in the busyness of life and old engrained belief patterns, enabling us to forget the most important truth we need to remember amid this human experience. Choose Spirit Now is a how-to for spiritual awakening, bringing together the best of both the ancient practice and teachings of yoga and the spiritual teachings from A Course in Miracles to finally free us from this ego thought and belief system by shining the light on every nook and cranny where it is hiding out. Are you ready to begin the most fascinating exploration of your own self and in the process reveal your absolute right to wholeness, happiness, and contentment as God-given gifts to all of us? Check out ChooseSpiritNow.com to experience this book as an online retreat and for continued support for living a life fully awake.

Book Reintroducing Macroeconomics

Download or read book Reintroducing Macroeconomics written by Steven Mark Cohn and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-01-28 with total page 582 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This lively introduction to heterodox economics provides a balanced critique of the standard introductory macroeconomic curriculum. In clear and accessible prose, it explains many of the key principles that underlie a variety of alternative theoretical perspectives (including institutionalist economics, radical economics, Post Keynesian economics, feminist economics, ecological economics, Marxist economics, social economics, and socioeconomics). Because the book's structure parallels the chapters and subject matter presented in a typical introductory macroeconomics textbook, "Reintroducing Macroeconomics" provides readers with a running commentary on the standard approach, while simultaneously introducing them to a broader range of ideas about the causes and appropriate policy responses to a wide range of common economic problems. Although designed primarily as a companion volume for students in introductory economics courses, the book can also be used effectively for more targeted applications that highlight a particular economic issue or approach. It will be of particular interest to students in related disciplines (such as American Studies, anthropology, black studies, environmental studies, gender studies, history, political science, and sociology) who may be required to take introductory economics classes and who are interested in gaining an alternative perspective. By demonstrating the vitality and common ground underlying a broad spectrum of heterodox approaches, "Reintroducing Macroeconomics" brings alternative perspectives into the classroom in an accessible way that empowers students to think about the economy in new and exciting ways. The text includes end-of-chapter study questions, as well as a detailed note to instructors.

Book Flying in Defiance of the Reich

Download or read book Flying in Defiance of the Reich written by Peter Russell and published by Casemate Publishers. This book was released on 2007-11-13 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the vivid memoir of a man who was twenty-one at the outbreak of World War II. Having joined the RAFVR before the war, he was mobilized in August 1939 and after training became operational on 233 Squadron Coastal Command flying Hudsons from Leuchars, Aldergrove and St Eval. After fourteen months he was rested and was tasked with training navigators for the impending enlargement of Bomber Command. In 1944 he joined 625 Squadron flying Lancasters over German targets and eventually took command of B Flight and was promoted Squadron Leader. His memories of the many raids, his crew and operational flying during this period until the end of the war are truly gripping. After the German capitulation, Peter joined Shield Force bound for the Far-east and the night bombing of Japan. However before they could become operational the atom bomb put an end to the war in that theater. His unit was redirected to relieve Hong Kong and the final chapters give a unique insight into how the Japanese garrison was replaced by British law and order. This was a purely land operation carried out by the RAF without the presence of the Army.

Because at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, a fissure opens and releases a life-form that has been locked away for countless millennia. When the quake strikes: Marine biologist Charles Jacobs is lucky to survive as his beloved Monterey Aquarium collapses. In Oakland, NOAA scientist Felix Goodwin suddenly finds himself tapped by his Washington boss, millionaire industrialist Garrison Drummond, to head up Emergency Operations. And environmentalist Natalie DiBella, homeward bound on an airliner that narrowly avoids crashing, dreads that her family may not have been so lucky. Months later, when Charles is brought to a top secret government facility to examine a huge, strange creature, it is like nothing the eminent scientist has ever seen before. As impossible as it seems, it is a sea serpent and it is not alone. Soon the oceans are swarming with them, in all shapes and sizes, but all with the same eerie jade eyes. Charles comes to realize that they are the ultimate invasive species; Natalie thinks they are a beautiful force of nature and the Machiavellian Drummond believes they have the potential for almost limitless power.
