Book Engymetry and Personal Computing in Nuclear Medicine

Download or read book Engymetry and Personal Computing in Nuclear Medicine written by Dietrich P. Pretschner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 142 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nuclear ftedicine is not and has not been a purely imaging discipline. It is function analysis that has always been the focal pOint. This fact has become particularly obvious in the last few years through the employment of nev short-lived radionuclides, new technical procedures and data processing. The disadvantage of function analysis in Inclear ftedicine through the use of radioactively labeled compounds is that more and more complicated and expensive equipment his to be used. A further characteristic is that these machines are stationary, and that the patients cannot be examined under physiological conditions. For technical reasons the x-camera is developing in the direction of mea suring mainly the so-ca~led 'soft' I-emitters at the present time. On the other hand, positron emitters are the radionuclides which are of interest for metabolic functions. At present, positron cameras are even more e~pensive and complicated machines, the use of which is very demanding. In this book Priv. -Doz. Dr. med. Dipl. -Ing. D. Peter pretschner has described a new system which contains his ideas and his technical developments. He describes a solution to the urgent questions and dif ficulties in the employment of radioactive substances for diagnosis. It does not demand large resources and can be used under the appropri ate individual physiological conditions. Here he was helped by his training as a natural scientist and engineer, as well as by his being an experienced clinician.

Book Nuclear Medicine Applications And Their Mathematical Basis

Download or read book Nuclear Medicine Applications And Their Mathematical Basis written by Michael L Goris and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2011-07-08 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reviews the principal applications of nuclear medicine, specifically from the viewpoint of the mathematical and physical analyses that support the interpretation. In contradistinction to other approaches, the mathematics does not precede the applications in introductory chapters, but is presented in the application chapters with various degrees of granularity.

Book Nuclear Medicine and PET

Download or read book Nuclear Medicine and PET written by Paul E. Christian and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An invaluable reference tool for students and practitioners alike, this expert textbook presents fundamental concepts in nuclear medicine such as math, statistics, and physics, as well as current information on instrumentation, computer and laboratory sciences, radiochemistry, and radiopharmacology. After general discussions of radiation safety and patient care, each body system is covered in a separate chapter that covers relevant anatomy and physiology followed by details of the performance and interpretation of various procedures for diagnosing specific problems. Up-to-date, clinically relevant material reflects all content covered in the nuclear medicine technology program curriculum. In-depth procedure discussions relevant to the clinical practice of nuclear medicine prepare readers to perform procedures with confidence. Accessible writing style and approach to basic science subjects addresses fundamentals first, both throughout the book and within each chapter, and topics build toward more complex concepts. Learning tools such as chapter outlines, chapter objectives, suggested readings, and a Math and Statistics review help readers identify important points within each chapter. Editors and contributors from a variety of academic and clinical settings provide a broad philosophic and geographic perspective, making this an authoritative and comprehensive resource. A comprehensive glossary defines specialized terminology and important concepts. Updated material keeps students informed about current practices for Tc-99m ECD imaging, scintillation cameras, quality control, radiation safety regulations, and new radiopharmaceuticals New chapters include expanded coverage of the fundamentals of instrumentation and radiochemistry applications, as well as clinical applications of PET to oncology. A new chapter on SPECT (single photon emission computed tomography) covers: instrumentation; image acquisition, filtering, reconstruction and display; image properties; and physics and artifacts. 100 new illustrations accompany the 3 new chapters, and images and equipment photos have been updated throughout the book where needed. A Mathematics and Statistics review added to the first chapter features multiple choice questions with answers in the back of the book.
