Book Static Stability and Drag Characteristics of a Low Cost Full Scale Target at Mach Numbers from 0 2 to 1 3

Download or read book Static Stability and Drag Characteristics of a Low Cost Full Scale Target at Mach Numbers from 0 2 to 1 3 written by J. B. Carman and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The static stability and drag characteristics were investigated for a 0.05-scale model of a Low Cost Full-Scale Target (LCFST) at Mach numbers from 0.2 to 1.3. Free-stream Reynolds number, based on the mean aerodynamic chord, varied between 0.9 and 2.2 million for angles of attack and sideslip of -2 to 8 deg and -3 to 3 deg, respectively. Data were obtained for horizontal tail deflections of -0.5 and -2 deg. Test results indicated that the target vehicle was statically stable in both the pitch and yaw planes. Negative deflection of the horizontal tail produced a substantial increase in pitching-moment coefficient at alpha = 0. (Author).

Book Experimental Roll Damping Magnus and Static Stability Characteristics of Two Slender Missile Configurations at High Angles of Attack 0 to 90 Deg and Mach Numbers 0 2 Through 2 5

Download or read book Experimental Roll Damping Magnus and Static Stability Characteristics of Two Slender Missile Configurations at High Angles of Attack 0 to 90 Deg and Mach Numbers 0 2 Through 2 5 written by and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation was conducted to verify that the recently developed high-alpha missile roll-damping test mechanism could be used to obtain the roll-damping characteristics of slender missile configurations and to obtain roll-damping, Magnus, static-stability, and axial-force characteristics of a typical missile configuration. The verification tests were conducted with the Basic Finner Model at M = 0.22 and 2.50. Additional test results were obtained with a Modified Basic Finner Model for Mach number 0.6 through 2.5.

Book A Compilation of Static Stability and Fin Loads Data for Slender Body Missile Models with and Without Tail Fins and Wings

Download or read book A Compilation of Static Stability and Fin Loads Data for Slender Body Missile Models with and Without Tail Fins and Wings written by G. R. Gomillion and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document contains a compilation of aerodynamic data for the Martin Generalized Research Model, which is a composite of several body, wing, and tail fin configurations typical of missile applications. The model variations included five body configurations, three wing configurations at various body locations, and 15 tail fin configurations. Static stability and tail fin loads data are presented in tabulated and plotted form for a Mach number range from 0.20 to 4.63 over an angle-of-attack range from -6 to 60 deg and a sideslip angle range from -20 to 20 deg for the body-alone configurations, body-wing configurations, and the body-wing-tail fin configurations. In addition, the tail fin configurations were tested using the reflection plane technique, and the resulting fin loads data are presented for a Mach number range of 0.80 to 2.16 over an angle-of-attack range from 0 to 210 deg. Volume I contains the narrative and selected plotted data. (Author).

Book Normal Force Center of Pressure and Zero lift Drag of Several Ballistic type Missiles at Mach Numbers of 4 05

Download or read book Normal Force Center of Pressure and Zero lift Drag of Several Ballistic type Missiles at Mach Numbers of 4 05 written by Edward F. Ulmann and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tests were conducted at Mach number 4.05 to determine the aerodynamic characteristics of several missile models having turbulent boundary layers and to compare these results with available method of predicting the aerodynamic characteristics. (The condition of the boundary layer was determined by the china-clay-lacquer boundary-layer-visualization technique.) Normal force and pitching moment were measured through an angle-of-attack range of 0 to between 4 and 8 degrees, depending upon balance limitations, and at roll angles of 0 and 45 degrees; drag was measured only at 0 degrees angle of attack.
