Book State of the Art on Grammatical Inference Using Evolutionary Method

Download or read book State of the Art on Grammatical Inference Using Evolutionary Method written by Hari Mohan Pandey and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2021-11-13 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: State of the Art on Grammatical Inference Using Evolutionary Method presents an approach for grammatical inference (GI) using evolutionary algorithms. Grammatical inference deals with the standard learning procedure to acquire grammars based on evidence about the language. It has been extensively studied due to its high importance in various fields of engineering and science. The book's prime purpose is to enhance the current state-of-the-art of grammatical inference methods and present new evolutionary algorithms-based approaches for context free grammar induction. The book's focus lies in the development of robust genetic algorithms for context free grammar induction. The new algorithms discussed in this book incorporate Boolean-based operators during offspring generation within the execution of the genetic algorithm. Hence, the user has no limitation on utilizing the evolutionary methods for grammatical inference. Discusses and summarizes the latest developments in Grammatical Inference, with a focus on Evolutionary Methods Provides an understanding of premature convergence as well as genetic algorithms Presents a performance analysis of genetic algorithms as well as a complete look into the wide range of applications of Grammatical Inference methods Demonstrates how to develop a robust experimental environment to conduct experiments using evolutionary methods and algorithms

Book Model Selection and Error Estimation in a Nutshell

Download or read book Model Selection and Error Estimation in a Nutshell written by Luca Oneto and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-07-17 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can we select the best performing data-driven model? How can we rigorously estimate its generalization error? Statistical learning theory answers these questions by deriving non-asymptotic bounds on the generalization error of a model or, in other words, by upper bounding the true error of the learned model based just on quantities computed on the available data. However, for a long time, Statistical learning theory has been considered only an abstract theoretical framework, useful for inspiring new learning approaches, but with limited applicability to practical problems. The purpose of this book is to give an intelligible overview of the problems of model selection and error estimation, by focusing on the ideas behind the different statistical learning theory approaches and simplifying most of the technical aspects with the purpose of making them more accessible and usable in practice. The book starts by presenting the seminal works of the 80’s and includes the most recent results. It discusses open problems and outlines future directions for research.

Book Model Selection and Inference

Download or read book Model Selection and Inference written by Kenneth P. Burnham and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Statisticians and applied scientists must often select a model to fit empirical data. This book discusses the philosophy and strategy of selecting such a model using the information theory approach pioneered by Hirotugu Akaike. This approach focuses critical attention on a priori modeling and the selection of a good approximating model that best represents the inference supported by the data. The book includes practical applications in biology and environmental science.

Book Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Biomedical Big Data

Download or read book Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Biomedical Big Data written by Ervin Sejdic and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-07-04 with total page 624 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the healthcare domain, big data is defined as any ``high volume, high diversity biological, clinical, environmental, and lifestyle information collected from single individuals to large cohorts, in relation to their health and wellness status, at one or several time points.'' Such data is crucial because within it lies vast amounts of invaluable information that could potentially change a patient's life, opening doors to alternate therapies, drugs, and diagnostic tools. Signal Processing and Machine Learning for Biomedical Big Data thus discusses modalities; the numerous ways in which this data is captured via sensors; and various sample rates and dimensionalities. Capturing, analyzing, storing, and visualizing such massive data has required new shifts in signal processing paradigms and new ways of combining signal processing with machine learning tools. This book covers several of these aspects in two ways: firstly, through theoretical signal processing chapters where tools aimed at big data (be it biomedical or otherwise) are described; and, secondly, through application-driven chapters focusing on existing applications of signal processing and machine learning for big biomedical data. This text aimed at the curious researcher working in the field, as well as undergraduate and graduate students eager to learn how signal processing can help with big data analysis. It is the hope of Drs. Sejdic and Falk that this book will bring together signal processing and machine learning researchers to unlock existing bottlenecks within the healthcare field, thereby improving patient quality-of-life. Provides an overview of recent state-of-the-art signal processing and machine learning algorithms for biomedical big data, including applications in the neuroimaging, cardiac, retinal, genomic, sleep, patient outcome prediction, critical care, and rehabilitation domains. Provides contributed chapters from world leaders in the fields of big data and signal processing, covering topics such as data quality, data compression, statistical and graph signal processing techniques, and deep learning and their applications within the biomedical sphere. This book’s material covers how expert domain knowledge can be used to advance signal processing and machine learning for biomedical big data applications.
