Book Standard Variants of the Skull and Brain

Download or read book Standard Variants of the Skull and Brain written by Wolfgang Seeger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author describes in his unique style the anatomical variants of the brain and skull. This atlas is a continuation of his last work on "Neuronavigation and Neuroanatomy". Most anatomical reference volumes show a large number of common and rare variations. This atlas concentrates on well known and little known variants which are especially important for the clinicians, in particular the neurosurgeons and the radiologists. The variants have been grouped after areas of trepanation. The author presents also a number of so far unknown variants gathered from his personal theoretical and clinical experience of 50 years. Exact knowledge of anatomical variations which the surgeon may encounter helps to plan operations and to avoid unexpected complications. Variants of no clinical relevance, even rather common ones, have not been included.

Book Atlas of Normal Imaging Variations of the Brain Skull and Craniocervical Vasculature

Download or read book Atlas of Normal Imaging Variations of the Brain Skull and Craniocervical Vasculature written by Alexander M. McKinney and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-09 with total page 1335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This atlas presents normal imaging variations of the brain, skull, and craniocervical vasculature. Magnetic resonance (MR) imaging and computed tomography (CT) have advanced dramatically in the past 10 years, particularly in regard to new techniques and 3D imaging. One of the major problems experienced by radiologists and clinicians is the interpretation of normal variants as compared with the abnormalities that the variants mimic. Through an extensive collection of images, this book offers a spectrum of appearances for each variant with accompanying 3D imaging for confirmation; explores common artifacts on MR and CT that simulate disease; discusses each variant in terms of the relevant anatomy; and presents comparison cases for the purpose of distinguishing normal findings from abnormalities. It includes both common variants as well as newly identified variants that are visualized by recently developed techniques such as diffusion-weighted imaging and multidetector/multislice CT. The book also highlights normal imaging variants in pediatric cases. Atlas of Normal Imaging Variations of the Brain, Skull, and Craniocervical Vasculature is a valuable resource for neuroradiologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, and radiologists in interpreting the most common and identifiable variants and using the best methods to classify them expediently.

Book Anatomical Basis of Cranial Neurosurgery

Download or read book Anatomical Basis of Cranial Neurosurgery written by Wolfgang Seeger and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-02-16 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This didactic book clearly and systematically describes the anatomical-surgical fundamentals of cranial neurosurgery, relating them to norm variants, imaging modalities and interdisciplinary aspects. All illustrations, hand drawn in ink by the first author, are simple and self-explanatory. The book reflects the first author’s lifetime experience as an academic neurosurgeon and teacher, as well as the second author’s theoretical and practical knowledge of neurosurgical subspecialties such as epilepsy surgery. In addition to its core audience in neurosurgery, it provides all connected disciplines, in particular neuroradiology, neurology, neuropathology, ENT surgery, maxillofacial surgery and eye surgery, with unique anatomical insights into the neurosurgeon’s perspective.

Book Endoscopic Anatomy of the Third Ventricle

Download or read book Endoscopic Anatomy of the Third Ventricle written by Wolfgang Seeger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-06-01 with total page 122 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An illustrated atlas of anatomical aspects important for combinations of microsurgical and endoscopic approaches. The basis for Professor Seeger’s renowned drawings has been anatomical preparations, cadaver dissections and intraoperative pictures. The correct proportions are derived by measuring the distances of anatomical landmarks of cranial preparations and from CT and MR Images. A concise text supports the understanding of the anatomical figures. Numerous common anatomical variants are demonstrated with reference to their impact for the surgical technique.

Book Neuronavigation and Neuroanatomy

Download or read book Neuronavigation and Neuroanatomy written by Wolfgang Seeger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This atlas shows drawings of anatomical landmarks for neuronavigation for preoperative planning. The authors show the relationships between bony landmarks and landmarks which are no longer available after opening of the skull but still recognizable during the operation. It also includes descriptions of many important anatomical variants, which are important for microsurgeons when using minimal invasive modern techniques to avoid errors and complications. The book describes unknown projections for MRI and CT which may be adapted for special surgical problems. The anatomical drawings are the result of a twenty-five-year study of the topographical anatomy of the brain and the surrounding structures combined with the experience of modern microsurgery.
