This book covers a broad range of issues that are important to engineers concerned with the selection, application, and maintenance of hydraulic fluids used in industrial machinery. The author provides a comprehensive and ready reference to various hydraulic fluid properties, such as biodegradability and fire resistance, as well as relevant hydraulic fluid test procedures. Also discussed are re-refining, reclamation, and disposal issues pertaining to used hydraulic fluids. This book is unique in that it brings together material that is currently not available from a single source, in a concise and useful format. A handy and useful guide for younger as well as more experienced practicing hydraulics and plant engineers, in addition to engineers in fluid power transmission and the mechanical engineering industries.
Download or read book State of the art of Structural Test Methods for Walls Floors Roofs and Complete Buildings written by C. W. C. Yancey and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on information obtained from a review of the literature and from liaison with committees concerned with the development and revision of voluntary standards, it was found that there is a dearth of research information contributing directly to the development of test methods. Most of the research conducted on building components has been carried out either to observe the behavior of a sample of a particular type of construction or to evaluate the performance of a specimen against some performance requirements. However, helpful inferences can be made on the basis of some of the documentation, especially that contained in reports of full-scale tests on housing. An up-to-date status report of voluntary test standards activities (in the U.S.) was prepared through verbal and written communication with members of the technical subcommittees of ASTM Committee E-6 on Performance of Building Construction.

Download or read book Soil Improvement and Ground Modification Methods written by Peter G. Nicholson and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2014-08-29 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by an author with more than 25 years of field and academic experience, Soil Improvement and Ground Modification Methods explains ground improvement technologies for converting marginal soil into soil that will support all types of structures. Soil improvement is the alteration of any property of a soil to improve its engineering performance. Some sort of soil improvement must happen on every construction site. This combined with rapid urbanization and the industrial growth presents a huge dilemma to providing a solid structure at a competitive price. The perfect guide for new or practicing engineers, this reference covers projects involving soil stabilization and soil admixtures, including utilization of industrial waste and by-products, commercially available soil admixtures, conventional soil improvement techniques, and state-of-the-art testing methods. - Conventional soil improvement techniques and state-of-the-art testing methods - Methods for mitigating or removing the risk of liquefaction in the event of major vibrations - Structural elements for stabilization of new or existing construction industrial waste/by-products, commercially available soil - Innovative techniques for drainage, filtration, dewatering, stabilization of waste, and contaminant control and removal

This book was released on 1988-02-01 with total page 709 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the first time, a single reference identifies medical technology assessment programs. A valuable guide to the field, this directory contains more than 60 profiles of programs that conduct and report on medical technology assessments. Each profile includes a listing of report citations for that program, and all the reports are indexed under major subject headings. Also included is a cross-listing of technology assessment report citations arranged by type of technology headings, brief descriptions of approximately 70 information sources of potential interest to technology assessors, and addresses and descriptions of 70 organizations with memberships, activities, publications, and other functions relevant to the medical technology assessment community.

Download or read book Physical Test Methods for Elastomers written by Roger Brown and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-10-18 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides comprehensive coverage of all aspects of physical testing of elastomers (rubbers and thermoplastic elastomers) including mechanical, electrical, thermal and all aspects of durability. Elastomers are an important class of materials used in such products as tyres, seals and hose which have markedly different properties to other materials. The importance of testing of elastomers means that a comprehensive text on the subject is essential. The advantage over general materials testing books is being more specific while the advantage over general rubber technology books is that testing is dealt with in depth.
