Suppose you’re taken the advice of people who said you have to live by specific standards or conform to ideologies that oppose yours, directly or indirectly. In that case, it’s time to take responsibility. You should unlearn such, and learn ways that you understand to be true, ways that make you stay true to yourself—now it’s time to relearn. Author, Podcaster, Speaker and Coach Oladimeji Ajegbile explores an essential question that will displace your deep-rooted beliefs about life and expose your mind to problems that plague the minds of young adults and millennials today. Deep-rooted conversations to help set you on a path to taking the necessary actions to engineer your success and future. You are in control. Own it. Set Your Standards!

Book Nonstandard Analysis Axiomatically

Download or read book Nonstandard Analysis Axiomatically written by Vladimir Kanovei and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 421 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the aftermath of the discoveries in foundations of mathematiC's there was surprisingly little effect on mathematics as a whole. If one looks at stan dard textbooks in different mathematical disciplines, especially those closer to what is referred to as applied mathematics, there is little trace of those developments outside of mathematical logic and model theory. But it seems fair to say that there is a widespread conviction that the principles embodied in the Zermelo - Fraenkel theory with Choice (ZFC) are a correct description of the set theoretic underpinnings of mathematics. In most textbooks of the kind referred to above, there is, of course, no discussion of these matters, and set theory is assumed informally, although more advanced principles like Choice or sometimes Replacement are often mentioned explicitly. This implicitly fixes a point of view of the mathemat ical universe which is at odds with the results in foundations. For example most mathematicians still take it for granted that the real number system is uniquely determined up to isomorphism, which is a correct point of view as long as one does not accept to look at "unnatural" interpretations of the membership relation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the Preface to the first edition (1906): "A few of the most modern books on the Theory of Functions devote some pages to the establishment of certain results belonging to our subject, and required for the special purposes in hand... But we may fairly claim that the present work is the first attempt at a systematic exposition of the subject as a whole."

Book excerpt: Computational Learning Theory presents the theoretical issues in machine learning and computational models of learning. This book covers a wide range of problems in concept learning, inductive inference, and pattern recognition. Organized into three parts encompassing 32 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the inductive principle based on weak convergence of probability measures. This text then examines the framework for constructing learning algorithms. Other chapters consider the formal theory of learning, which is learning in the sense of improving computational efficiency as opposed to concept learning. This book discusses as well the informed parsimonious (IP) inference that generalizes the compatibility and weighted parsimony techniques, which are most commonly applied in biology. The final chapter deals with the construction of prediction algorithms in a situation in which a learner faces a sequence of trials, with a prediction to be given in each and the goal of the learner is to make some mistakes. This book is a valuable resource for students and teachers.

Book Incomparable Values

Download or read book Incomparable Values written by John Nolt and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2022-01-14 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: People tend to rank values of all kinds linearly from good to bad, but there is little reason to think that this is reasonable or correct. This book argues, to the contrary, that values are often partially ordered and hence frequently incomparable. Proceeding logically from a small set of axioms, John Nolt examines the great variety of partially ordered value structures, exposing fallacies that arise from overlooking them. He reveals various ways in which incomparability is obscured: using linear indices to summarize partially ordered data, relying on an inadequately defined concept of parity, or conflating incomparability with vagueness. Incomparability can enrich and clarify a range of topics including the paradoxes of Derek Parfit, rational decision theory, and the infinite values of theology. Finally, Nolt shows how to generalize many of the concepts introduced earlier, explores the intricate depths of certain noteworthy partially ordered value structures, and argues for the finitude of value. Incomparable Values will be of interest to scholars and advanced students working in ethics, value theory, rational decision theory, and logic.

These topics are interspersed with illustrative evaluation cases in such areas as education, housing, and military personnel evaluation"--
