Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The collection, edited by Annalisa Castaldo and Rhonda Knight, features essays by scholars interested in exploring how the material culture of sixteenth and early seventeenth English theatrical culture influenced the creation and presentation of drama and how understanding this culture can enrich scholars’ current interactions with these plays as well as offer insights to actors and directors. The essays include discussions of plays by Shakespeare, Marlowe, and Middleton as well as lesser known works and playwrights. This collection is unique in that it includes the body of the actor as a material object that is encountered and manipulated by other actors on the stage. These essays demonstrate how props, bodies and the architectural dimensions of early modern stages have both practical and symbolic registers.

  • Author : F.B. Howard - White
  • Publisher : Taylor & Francis
  • Release : 2024-01-15
  • ISBN : 1003833861
  • Pages : 300 pages

Download or read book Nickel written by F.B. Howard - White and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-01-15 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1963, Nickel presents a readable account of Nickel’s development from early times to the present day. Weapons and implements containing a small proportion of nickel have been found on the 3500-year-old sites of Ur and Kish in Sumeria; while in 1962 the first United States manned space capsule to orbit the earth made use of nickel alloys to withstand the effects of exposure to elevated temperature, dynamic and acoustical stress, and fatigue. Nickel was identified as an element in the 18th century and the steps leading up to this are vividly described. New information on the origin of Kupfer Nickel, regarded with such disdain by early Saxon miners, is revealed as a result of a visit made by the author to the Freiburg Bergakademie in Eastern Germany. Nickeliferous occurrences in Europe, the South Pacific and North America are described; charts and flowsheets illustrate progress in production and methods of extracting this matter from its complex compounds. There are incidental portraits of the men who built up the industry. A survey of the applications of nickel today includes references to nickel silver, electroplating, the steel field, and it’s hundred and one uses in industry, architecture and the home. This account of the development of nickel, combining scientific and economic fact with the quirks of human history makes informative and imaginative reading.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rise of technology and ease of spread of information has facilitated the diaspora of new ideas in the community. The penetration of new ideology and new values challenges the status quo of value and morality in our community. While this can be seen as an opportunity to evolve as a nation, the introduction of radical and separatism brings chaos to the community. This issue is not only experienced in Indonesia but also in the whole world. The needs for a solution and academic forum to discuss this postmodernity in society bring us to the The 4th International Conference on Law, Education and Social Sciences (ICLSSE) 2022. This conference is an international forum to disseminate knowledge and research development among researchers, scholars, professionals, and those interested in research interests in Law and Social Sciences and Social Education. This conference was organized by the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences, Universitas Pendidikan Ganesha. The theme of this fourth conference is "Race, Ethnicity, and Nationalism in Postmodern Society: Opportunities and Challenges".

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The University of Colorado and the National Bureau of Standards have once again served as hosts for the Cryogenic Engineering Conference in Boulder, Colorado. In presenting the papers of this twelfth annual meeting, the 1966 Cryogenic Engineering Conference Committee has again recognized the excellent cooperation which has existed between these two organizations over the past decade with regard to both cryogenic research and conference activity. This cooperation was demonstrated not only at the 1966 Cryogenic Engineering Conference but also at the International Institute of Refrigeration, Commission I Meeting, which was also hosted by these two organizations immediately following the Cryogenic Engineering Conference. These two meetings have provided attendees with one of the most comprehensive coverages of cryogenic topics that has ever been presented at one location. Emphasis on major international advances in helium technology at the International Institute of Refrigeration, Commission I Meeting has been possible largely through the National Science Foundation Grant GK 1116 to the University of Colorado. The Cryogenic Engineering Conference Committee gratefully acknowledges this support because of its valuable international contribution to the Cryogenic Engineering Conference. As in the past, the Cryogenic Engineering Conference Committee is grateful for the continued assistance of all the dedicated workers in the cryogenic field who have contributed their time reviewing the preliminary papers for the program and the final manuscripts for this volume.
