Book Nurses Attitudes and Nursing Care Plans

Download or read book Nurses Attitudes and Nursing Care Plans written by Marcia McCarthy and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of the study was to study the relationship between the knowledge of the usefulness of the nursing care plan and the attitude of nurses toward the plan/care planning process. The independent variable involved attendance at an educational program which impacted on the dependent variable of attitude. The hypothesis for the study was: nurses who attend a nursing care planning process educationa1, program would exhibit more positive attitudes regarding the usefulness of the nursing plan process than nurses who did not participate in the educational program. Thirty participants all possessing diploma school educations with one to six years registered nurse experience were chosen by accidental sampling. Fifteen attended an educational program and fifteen did not. All completed a tool measuring attitude towards nursing care plans. Attitude tools were distributed and collected by a volunteer. The t-test findings indicated that there was no significant difference in attitude towards the nursing care planning process of those nurses who attended the educational program compared to those who did not. Therefore the hypothesis was rejected. Recommendations for further study include validating and testing reliability of tool, studying various levels of educational groups, randomization of sample population and securing demographic data of participants.

Book Knowledge Translation in Health Care

Download or read book Knowledge Translation in Health Care written by Sharon E. Straus and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-08-24 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Health care systems worldwide are faced with the challenge of improving the quality of care. Providing evidence from health research is necessary but not sufficient for the provision of optimal care and so knowledge translation (KT), the scientific study of methods for closing the knowledge-to-action gap and of the barriers and facilitators inherent in the process, is gaining significance. Knowledge Translation in Health Care explains how to use research findings to improve health care in real life, everyday situations. The authors define and describe knowledge translation, and outline strategies for successful knowledge translation in practice and policy making. The book is full of examples of how knowledge translation models work in closing the gap between evidence and action. Written by a team of authors closely involved in the development of knowledge translation this unique book aims to extend understanding and implementation worldwide. It is an introductory guide to an emerging hot topic in evidence-based care and essential for health policy makers, researchers, managers, clinicians and trainees.

Book Attitudes of Registered Nurses who Practise in Acute Care Hospitals in an Urban Centre of Manitoba Towards Writing Nursing Care Plans

Download or read book Attitudes of Registered Nurses who Practise in Acute Care Hospitals in an Urban Centre of Manitoba Towards Writing Nursing Care Plans written by I. Donna Meder and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 580 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this description correlational study was to describe the attitudes of general duty, registered nurses (RNs) who practise in acute care settings in an urban Manitoban centre toward writing nursing care plans (NCPs) and their self-reported NCP writing/revising behaviour. The relationship between the identified attitudes toward writing NCPs and the self-reported NCP writing/revising behaviours also was examined. It was anticipated that answers to these questions would assist in determining the degree of acceptability of the nursing care plan (NCP) as a communication tool to practising, general duty RNs and its utility to them. As well it would describe whether the RNs reported writing/revising NCPs as prescribed by both professional nursing and hospital accreditation standards... The use of the nursing process, described as the core methodology of nursing practice, and the documentation and use of a NCP for each patient by the professional nurse have been incorporated into Canadian professional nursing and hospital accreditation standards (Canadian Nurses Association, 1987; Canadian Council on Health Facilities Accreditation, 1992). The literature reveals that historically the ideological and practical uses of both the nursing process and the NCP have been debated and that NCPs are not written consistently... The results indicated that the RNs had positive attitudes towards writing/revising NCPs; however, NCPs were not written/revised for patients on a regular basis. A weak, positive linear relationship existed between the two variables (r = .2334 p = .01). Over 75% of the RNs used NCPs to help them provide patient care. Qualitative analysis revealed themes related to the RNs' thoughts about the NCP; how they used or why they did not use the NCP as a guide; and information desired on a NCP. Based upon these findings implications for nursing practice, education, research, administration and nursing were discussed.
