Book Comments on Hypersonic Boundary layer Transition

Download or read book Comments on Hypersonic Boundary layer Transition written by Kenneth F. Stetson and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a survey paper on the subject of hypersonic boundary-layer transition. Part 1 discusses boundary-layer stability theory, hypersonic boundary-layer stability experiments, and a comparison between theory and experiment. Part 2 contains comments on how many configuration and flow parameters influence transition. Part 3 discusses some additional general aspects of transition. Part 4 discusses problems of predicting transition and comments on three prediction methods. Part 5 contains some general guidelines for prediction methodology. Keywords: Boundary layer transition, Boundary layer stability, Hypersonic boundary layers.

Book A Study of Hypersonic Compression Corner Flow at High Reynolds Numbers

Download or read book A Study of Hypersonic Compression Corner Flow at High Reynolds Numbers written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To numerically solve the problem for the ramp flow at high Reynolds number, it is justified to use the classical Prandtl model and to part the flow into an inviscid region and a thin boundary layer. This model is based on a rigorous asymptotic theory and describes the flow the more accurately, the higher the Reynolds number is. Since a flow separation in a compression corner may occur, the present work deals with unsteady boundary-layer equations. The approximation error in discretization of boundary-layer equations is always smaller than the value of viscid terms since the Reynolds number can be eliminated from the equations by a suitable substitution of variables. Besides, the requirement for the sufficient number of points in the cross-flow direction can be fulfilled in the case of middle-class computers since the solution is being built in a narrow near-wall region.

Book Shock Wave Boundary Layer Interactions

Download or read book Shock Wave Boundary Layer Interactions written by Holger Babinsky and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-09-12 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shock wave-boundary-layer interaction (SBLI) is a fundamental phenomenon in gas dynamics that is observed in many practical situations, ranging from transonic aircraft wings to hypersonic vehicles and engines. SBLIs have the potential to pose serious problems in a flowfield; hence they often prove to be a critical - or even design limiting - issue for many aerospace applications. This is the first book devoted solely to a comprehensive, state-of-the-art explanation of this phenomenon. It includes a description of the basic fluid mechanics of SBLIs plus contributions from leading international experts who share their insight into their physics and the impact they have in practical flow situations. This book is for practitioners and graduate students in aerodynamics who wish to familiarize themselves with all aspects of SBLI flows. It is a valuable resource for specialists because it compiles experimental, computational and theoretical knowledge in one place.
