Book Stability of Dynamical Systems

Download or read book Stability of Dynamical Systems written by and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the analysis and synthesis of contemporary systems, engineers and scientists are frequently confronted with increasingly complex models that may simultaneously include components whose states evolve along continuous time and discrete instants; components whose descriptions may exhibit nonlinearities, time lags, transportation delays, hysteresis effects, and uncertainties in parameters; and components that cannot be described by various classical equations, as in the case of discrete-event systems, logic commands, and Petri nets. The qualitative analysis of such systems requires results for finite-dimensional and infinite-dimensional systems; continuous-time and discrete-time systems; continuous continuous-time and discontinuous continuous-time systems; and hybrid systems involving a mixture of continuous and discrete dynamics. Filling a gap in the literature, this textbook presents the first comprehensive stability analysis of all the major types of system models described above. Throughout the book, the applicability of the developed theory is demonstrated by means of many specific examples and applications to important classes of systems, including digital control systems, nonlinear regulator systems, pulse-width-modulated feedback control systems, artificial neural networks (with and without time delays), digital signal processing, a class of discrete-event systems (with applications to manufacturing and computer load balancing problems) and a multicore nuclear reactor model. The book covers the following four general topics: * Representation and modeling of dynamical systems of the types described above * Presentation of Lyapunov and Lagrange stability theory for dynamical systems defined on general metric spaces * Specialization of this stability theory to finite-dimensional dynamical systems * Specialization of this stability theory to infinite-dimensional dynamical systems Replete with exercises and requiring basic knowledge of linear algebra, analysis, and differential equations, the work may be used as a textbook for graduate courses in stability theory of dynamical systems. The book may also serve as a self-study reference for graduate students, researchers, and practitioners in applied mathematics, engineering, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, and economics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mathematical theory of control became a ?eld of study half a century ago in attempts to clarify and organize some challenging practical problems and the methods used to solve them. It is known for the breadth of the mathematics it uses and its cross-disciplinary vigor. Its literature, which can befoundinSection93ofMathematicalReviews,wasatonetimedominatedby the theory of linear control systems, which mathematically are described by linear di?erential equations forced by additive control inputs. That theory led to well-regarded numerical and symbolic computational packages for control analysis and design. Nonlinear control problems are also important; in these either the - derlying dynamical system is nonlinear or the controls are applied in a n- additiveway.Thelastfourdecadeshaveseenthedevelopmentoftheoretical work on nonlinear control problems based on di?erential manifold theory, nonlinear analysis, and several other mathematical disciplines. Many of the problems that had been solved in linear control theory, plus others that are new and distinctly nonlinear, have been addressed; some resulting general de?nitions and theorems are adapted in this book to the bilinear case.

Book Linear Discrete Time Systems

Download or read book Linear Discrete Time Systems written by Zoran M. Buchevats and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers crucial lacunae of the linear discrete-time time-invariant dynamical systems and introduces the reader to their treatment, while functioning under real, natural conditions, in forced regimes with arbitrary initial conditions. It provides novel theoretical tools necessary for the analysis and design of the systems operating in stated conditions. The text completely covers two well-known systems, IO and ISO, along with a new system, IIO. It discovers the concept of the full transfer function matrix F(z) in the z-complex domain, which incorporates the Z-transform of the system, input and another variable, vectors, all with arbitrary initial conditions. Consequently, it addresses the full system matrix P(z) and the full block diagram technique based on the use of F(z), which incorporates the Z-transform of the system, input and another variable, vectors, all with arbitrary initial conditions. The book explores the direct relationship between the system full transfer function matrix F(z) and the Lyapunov stability concept, definitions, and conditions, as well as with the BI stability concept, definitions, and conditions. The goal of the book is to unify the study and applications of all three classes of the linear discrete-time time-invariant system, for short systems.

Book On the Controllability of Discrete Bilinear Systems

Download or read book On the Controllability of Discrete Bilinear Systems written by Tsuyoshi Goka and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 19 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of the paper is the controllability of discrete-time bilinear systems. Bilinear systems are classified into two categories: homogeneous and inhomogeneous. Sufficient conditions which ensure the global controllability of bilinear systems are obtained by localized analysis in control variables. (Author).

Book Stability of Time Variant Discrete Time Systems

Download or read book Stability of Time Variant Discrete Time Systems written by Günter Ludyk and published by Vieweg+teubner Verlag. This book was released on 1985 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this monograph some stability properties of linear, time-variant, discrete-time systems are summarized, where some properties are well known, some are little-known facts, and a few may be new. Models for this treatise an the asymp totical behaviour of solutions of difference equations are the commonly known excellent books of CESARI [3] and CONTI [5]. In the tables of Chapter 1 the definitions and the essen tial statements an stability of discrete-time systems are summarized, such that Chapter 2 to 5 may be regarded as explaining appendices for these tables. I am grateful to Paul Ludyk, who typed and corrected the manuscript with great skill and patience, and Alois Ludyk, who drew the figures with great artistic skill.
