L'objectif principal est de trouver des conditions de bords garantissant la stabilité exponentielle du système. Dans une première partie on s'intéresse à des systèmes généraux qu'on cherche à stabiliser en norme C^1 en introduisant un certain type de fonctions de Lyapunov, puis on regarde plus précisément les systèmes de deux équations pour lesquels on peut comparer nos résultats avec la stabilisation en norme H^{2}. On s'intéresse ensuite à quelques équations physiques: l'équation de Burgers et les systèmes densité-vélocité, dont font partie les équations de Saint-Venant et les équations d'Euler isentropiques. A l'aide d'une entropie locale dissipative, on montre qu'on peut stabiliser les systèmes densité-vélocité par des contrôles aux bords simples et, étonnement, ces contrôles ne dépendent pas explicitement des paramètres du système, pourvu qu'ils soient physiquement admissibles. Par ailleurs, on développe une méthode pour stabiliser les états-stationnaires avec un choc dans le cas de l'équation de Burgers et des équations de Saint-Venant. Enfin, dans une troisième partie on s'intéresse aux contrôles proportionnels-intégraux (PI), très utilisés en pratique mais mal compris mathématiquement dans le cas des systèmes non-linéaires de dimension infinie. Pour les systèmes d'une seule équation on introduit une méthode d'extraction pour trouver des conditions optimales de stabilité sur les paramètres du contrôle. Finalement on traite le cas des équations de Saint-Venant avec un unique contrôle PI.

Book excerpt: La première partie est une contribution a des problèmes de contrôle-contrôlabilité exacte et stabilisation- pour des équations hyperboliques quasi linéaires, de type non local, issues de modèles physiques régissant les vibrations de cordes ou de câbles élastiques. On montre tout d'abord l'existence globale en temps et on étudie le comportement asymptotique des solutions lorsqu'on introduit un terme dissipatif localise sur une partie du domaine spatial ou de sa frontière. Les techniques employées sont la méthode de Liapounov et celle des multiplicateurs. En dimension un d'espace, après une synthèse de méthodes pour montrer la contrôlabilité exacte frontière d'équations hyperboliques linéaires a coefficients variables, on montre la contrôlabilité exacte frontière de l'équation quasi linéaire en utilisant un argument de point fixe et la méthode des caractéristiques. La seconde partie de cette thèse est une contribution a l'analyse numérique des problèmes de contrôlabilité exacte ou de stabilisation pour des équations des ondes ou de plaques vibrantes linéaires. On présente une stratégie et une méthode d'approximation numérique pour la contrôlabilité exacte frontière de l'équation des ondes qui conduisent à un contrôle plus régulier que celui donne usuellement. La méthode d'approximation, basée sur méthode de Galerkin, et dans le domaine spatial, et sur la partie de la frontière ou s'exerce le contrôle, est également appliquée au contrôle exact (standard) frontière d'une équation de plaque vibrante. Enfin, on étudie le caractère bien pose et la qualité d'un feedback pour la stabilisation frontière de systèmes de type hyperbolique ou de Petrowski. Celui-ci est explicite et permet de choisir arbitrairement le taux de décroissance de l'énergie.

Book excerpt: In this thesis, we study the problem of boundary stabilization of general hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations. More precisely, the analysis focuses on systems where the transport term is scalar and for which the information propagates in a fixed direction. In addition, the chosen control is most of the time a state feedback law for which a saturation is possibly applied. The work is divided into two distinct parts, one focusing on Lyapunov techniques while the other one uses the linearity of the problem. In the first part of the thesis, two main works are presented. In the first one, only linear transport equations with positive velocities are considered. The main goal is to design a saturated linear feedback in order to stabilize exponentially the open-loop system in L 8 . The method consists of using classical Lyapunov techniques to exhibit a basin of attraction for which a fine estimate is given. We also extend this work to nonlinear scalar conservation laws in a BV framework. In the other work, thanks to a slope limiter scheme, a system of scalar conservation laws is discretized. Inspired by "continuous" Lyapunov methods, a discrete Lyapunov functional is studied to prove the exponential BV stabilization of the discrete solution using a linear feedback. In the second part of the thesis, two works are exposed as well, this time in a full linear framework. On the one hand, we study systems of linear transport equations of arbitrary dimension, coupled on the domain and at the boundary. Designing a controller from a pole placement algorithm, the exponential stabilization is proved in L 2 . On the other hand, we develop a numerical Backstepping theory in order to stabilize in finite time a numerical scheme modeling a 2 × 2 linear system with in domain and boundary couplings.
