She was born in 1915 at Airlie, Oregon, the daughter of Evereete Edwin Staats (1869-1923) and Minnie Florence Nendel Staats Scott (1884-1982). She married 1) Melvin Joseph Cyranus Skaggs in 1933. They had a son born in 1934 and were divorced in 1937. She married 2) Elmer A. Carothers in 1941. They had a son born in 1946 and he legally adopted her first son. They were living at Terra Bella, California, in 1987. Includes pedigree charts and family group sheets of her ancestors and pedigree charts of her husband's ancestors. Elmer A. Carothers was born in 1914 at Porterville, California, the son George Garfield Carothers (1880-1946) and Nora Grider Carothers (1890-1956). His ancestors lived in California, Pennsylvania, Ireland, and elsewhere. Evelyn Staat Carothers parental ancestors lived in Oregon, New York, and the Netherlands.
