Book Death in Neverland

Download or read book Death in Neverland written by Isadora Brown and published by Isadora Brown. This book was released on 2020-10-03 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dark retelling of Peter Pan infuses familiar characters created by J. M. Barrie with new characters and Greek mythology. It's filled with pirates, forbidden romance, and magical adventure! In the Neverland, people don't grow up. Because they're dead. After Remy Cutler dies, she somehow escapes certain death and returns to the land of the living with nothing but a ripped gown and a fear of heights. Two years later, she plans to escape her arranged marriage by stowing away onto a ship in hopes to leave her home with no one knowing. However, she is discovered, and the sailors aren't happy. Before any damage can be done, she is yanked from her predicament back to The Neverland, a place where death resides - the very place she escaped from years ago. Souls are ferried by her savior. To her, he's known as Nick, but to The Neverland, he's the slippery Captain Nicholas Grey, wanted by both the good and the evil. The more time Remy spends with Nick and his crew, however, the more she realizes he's shockingly misunderstood. Pirates aren't all bad the way gentlemen aren't all good. One such gentleman goes by the name of Peter, and he has nothing but power on his mind and revenge against Grey in his heart. Then there are those that are completely indiscernible, like James Hook, a Viking and ruler of The Other World, whose sole ambition is attaining more souls to rule over, no matter what the cost. Why he needs the souls, no one knows, but it can't be good. If she is going to survive death a second time, Remy must figure out who to trust. Grey has done nothing but protect her, and yet, she cannot deny a strange pull whenever she is around James Hook. A decision needs to be made quickly before she is stuck in The Neverland for the rest of her life.

But St. David, the red dragon, is missing, and the island is in an uproar. As much as Easter would like to help Abigail get home, he's found himself on the Naughty List. And take it from him, Abigail does not want to be on the Naughty List. Because if you get caught by the Toy Soldiers who manage the list, you'll serve hard time in the North Coal, a hard labor coal mining camp enforced by Krampus, an imp who's the polar opposite of Santa. Easter advises her not to let anyone know about the daffodil she's wearing in her hair and tells her to visit St. Patrick, but the leprechaun has his own agenda. Abigail doesn't know what to do. Book Treasure Neverland

Download or read book Treasure Neverland written by Neil Rennie and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2013-09-12 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Treasure Neverland is about factual and fictional pirates. Swashbuckling eighteenth-century pirates were the ideal pirates of all time and tales of their exploits are still popular today. Most people have heard of Blackbeard and Captain Kidd even though they lived about three hundred years ago, but most have also heard of other pirates, such as Long John Silver and Captain Hook, even though these pirates never lived at all, except in literature. The differences between these two types of pirates - real and imaginary - are not quite as stark as we might think as the real, historical pirates are themselves somewhat legendary, somewhat fictional, belonging on the page and the stage rather than on the high seas. Based on extensive research of fascninating primary material, including testimonials, narratives, legal statements, colonial and mercantile records, Neil Rennie describes the ascertainable facts of real eighteenth-century pirate lives and then investigates how such facts were subsequently transformed artistically, by writers like Defoe and Stevenson, into realistic and fantastic fictions of various kinds: historical novels, popular melodramas, boyish adventures, Hollywood films. Rennie's aim is to watch, in other words, the long dissolve from Captain Kidd to Johnny Depp. There are surprisingly few scholarly studies of the factual pirates - properly analysing the basic manuscript sources and separating those documents from popular legends - and there are even fewer literary-historical studies of the whole crew of fictional pirates, although those imaginary pirates form a distinct and coherent literary tradition. Treasure Neverland is a study of this Scots-American literary tradition and also of the interrelations between the factual and fictional pirates - pirates who are intimately related, as the nineteenth-century writings about fictional pirates began with the eighteenth-century writings about supposedly real pirates. 'What I want is the best book about the Buccaneers', wrote Stevenson when he began Treasure Island in 1881. What he received, rightly, was indeed the best book: the sensational and unreliable History of the Pyrates (1724).
