Book St Louis Catholic Parish Fond Du Lac Wisconsin R pertoire of Baptisms Marriages Burials 1850 1920

Download or read book St Louis Catholic Parish Fond Du Lac Wisconsin R pertoire of Baptisms Marriages Burials 1850 1920 written by Kateri Dupuis and published by Genealogical Publishing Company. This book was released on 2010 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The work at hand is a transcription of the earliest vital records of St. Louis parish. The transcribers relied on both the original parish records books in the Archives of the Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee and microfilm copies. Most of the original records were recorded in Latin, with marginal notations, usually in French. The transcribers have divided the materials into alphabetically arranged sections for birth, marriage, and death. The birth records, by far the longest part of the book, consist of nearly 8,000 entries, each indicating the given name of the newborn, dates of birth and/or baptism, and the names of parents and often the godparents. The marriage records, of which there are about 1,200, state the names of the bride and groom, names of their parents, and date of the marriage. The roughly 1,000 death records furnish the full name of the deceased, date of death and/or burial, age at death, and in many cases, the cemetery, spouse's name, and names of parents.

This book was released on 2017-09-26 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Deluxe Edition of Ici Repose is a full-color, comprehensive visual guide to the tombs in New Orleans' historic, predominantly African-American St. Louis Cemetery #2, Square 3. This includes society and organization tombs (religious orders among them), and missing tombs. Each row within the cemetery is prefaced with a "you are here" map, which allows you to walk down the row, finding the names associated with each tomb, based on publicly available information which has been correlated and cross-referenced. Within the rows, there is a photo of each tomb, along with its tombstone inscriptions and historical and biographical notations. There are also translations of French inscriptions; a list of tombs that can be identified as the work of a particular stone cutter; a section on the Square's wall vaults; and discussion of the discrepancies that have cropped up between the different sources.

Book The Encyclopedia of Louisville

Download or read book The Encyclopedia of Louisville written by John E. Kleber and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2014-07-11 with total page 1024 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With more than 1,800 entries, The Encyclopedia of Louisville is the ultimate reference for Kentucky's largest city. For more than 125 years, the world's attention has turned to Louisville for the annual running of the Kentucky Derby on the first Saturday in May. Louisville Slugger bats still reign supreme in major league baseball. The city was also the birthplace of the famed Hot Brown and Benedictine spread, and the cheeseburger made its debut at Kaelin's Restaurant on Newburg Road in 1934. The "Happy Birthday" had its origins in the Louisville kindergarten class of sisters Mildred Jane Hill and Patty Smith Hill. Named for King Louis XVI of France in appreciation for his assistance during the Revolutionary War, Louisville was founded by George Rogers Clark in 1778. The city has been home to a number of men and women who changed the face of American history. President Zachary Taylor was reared in surrounding Jefferson County, and two U.S. Supreme Court Justices were from the city proper. Second Lt. F. Scott Fitzgerald, stationed at Camp Zachary Taylor during World War I, frequented the bar in the famous Seelbach Hotel, immortalized in The Great Gatsby. Muhammad Ali was born in Louisville and won six Golden Gloves tournaments in Kentucky.
