Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Sri Harsha of Kanauj: A Monograph on the History of India in the First Half of the 7th Century A. D The splendid empire of the Guptas was already reduced to a shadow at about the beginning of the 6th century. During the reign of its last great ruler Nara simha Gupta Baladitya, the Huns under a chieftain named Toramana wrested from the empire the province of Malwa where they established for themselves an independent kingdom. These people belonged to a race of barbarian nomadic tribes who had during the previous century occupied Turkistan and established an empire with Herat as its centre. To their onslaught the Gupta empire succumbed, _and though a branch of the imperial dynasty continued to flourish in Magadha till about 750 a.c., it no longer exercised any authority except in the immediate vicinity of the capital. With the invasion of Toramana, the imperial Guptas, for all prae tical purposes, passed out of Indian history. It is the first general encyclopedia of Hinduism covering every major aspect of Hindu life and thought, embodying the results of modern scholarship yet not ignoring the traditional point of view. It contains over 700 articles, each of which gives a comprehensive account of the subject, and by a system of cross references interlinks all topics related to it, so that a single theme may be traced in all its ramifications through the whole book. An index of over 8,000 items, which in itself forms a veritable treasury of Sanskrit terms and names, will further assist the researcher finding their way among the lesser topics treated in the work.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume How Can India Become a Superpower by 2047: A Vision is primarily a vision document of India that tells the readers - especially the students and youths - about the mantras for making India a country with a very high human development index. The sole aim of this sacred book is to ignite young minds to turn their dreams into determination for national growth and development through personal skill and capacity development. This book highlights India’s rich and glorious history, culture, trade & commerce, politics, geography, demography, and economy on one hand, and religion, spirituality, philosophy, gender, education, health, climate action, and science & technology, on the other hand. What are India’s present strengths? What more India can learn from the USA, China, Japan, Germany, and Israel has been discussed in this book. Also, the author has explored the perceptions of some great social, political, and spiritual leaders of the world about India and its superiority in science, technology, mathematics, spirituality, culture, and beauty. Moreover, India’s vibrant foreign policy and robust public policies since independence with a special focus on the Modi Government have been examined minutely. The most significant parts of this volume are to tell the readers about how India can be a developed country, how India should run in the next quarter century, and how India can achieve a $25 trillion economy by 2047. Finally, this book traces out some existing challenges and concludes with reasonable and scientific recommendations for the holistic development of India.

Book A Brief History of Physical Education in India New Edition

Download or read book A Brief History of Physical Education in India New Edition written by Krishnaswamy Rajagopalan and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-02-24 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book of its kind on this subject and indeed a very praiseworthy attempt in writing a History of Physical Education in our country. In this small volume Mr. Rajagopalan has covered vast stretches of the periods of Indian history and in presenting the material has tried to deal with the physical activities, sports, games, pastimes of the rulers, their military conquests as well as general education contemplated for the people. The food habits and general rules connected with health and sanitation are also referred to. The essential stress of Physical Education as a part of overall general education has been maintained all through. Set in the background of Indian culture, history and education, this book exemplifies the fact that Physical Education formed an integral part of Indian culture and civilization. Considerable study and hard work have gone into this small volume and I am sure it would stimulate some good thinking on the part of the students and teachers of Physical Education in this country. With its vast field of interest, it should be of appeal to lay readers too.
