Book Squirrels Can t Burp

Download or read book Squirrels Can t Burp written by Mary Zeger and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-07-26 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My love and appreciation for nature is rooted in my childhood. Growing up in rural Upstate New York, my life was filled with the wonders of nature. Our house was surrounded by apple and cherry orchards, and my five sisters and I spent countless hours gathering drops and climbing through the branches. Our parents were extremely accommodating when it came to pets! At one time or another, we had dogs, cats, a skunk, raccoons, a pig, a goat, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, a rooster, rabbits, fish, hermit crabs, turtles, and a duck! They were all well-loved members of our family. My husband, Gary, and I, along with our three children, were fortunate to be able to move back to my childhood home. So once again, there were orchards to explore and many pets to love and cherish. When our three granddaughters were born, I wanted to instill in them our family's love of nature. A humorous but educational book with unusual scientific facts about animals seemed a good way for me to do that, and to have their uncle illustrate it made it perfect! I hope that future generations of children will enjoy this book and learn to appreciate the world we live in.

The tongue-in-cheek humor and squirrel protagonists in a slightly off kilter fantasy world is like a delightful combination of Terry Prachett's Discworld series meets Watership Down.” Rebecca, Amazon Reviewer. “Excellent children's story that this adult loved! I read the second book and then purchased this book even after receiving it as an ARC free from the author because it is that good.” Patricia, Amazon Reviewer. “A story great for bed time. 5 stars to the author for making me laugh…” Issy, Amazon Reviewer. “This book of short stories about Jerry the Squirrel and his madcap inventing escapades made me laugh and smile a lot. They are very daft, but very enjoyable too.” Lolah, Amazon Reviewer. “I read it out loud to my son and he loved it!” Lady Lark, Amazon Reviewer. “I loved this book! Shawn has quite an imagination and puts it to good use in the books he writes! Thanks, Shawn” Anonymous, Amazon Reviewer.

Book excerpt: From the author of Lily and the Octopus comes a moving and deeply funny novel about a once-famous sitcom star who is left to care for his niece and nephew after an unexpected family tragedy. Patrick, or Gay Uncle Patrick (GUP for short), has always loved his niece, Maisie, and nephew, Grant. That is, he loves spending time with them … in small doses, with their parents there to handle the tears and tricky questions. So when tragedy strikes and Patrick finds himself suddenly taking on the role of primary guardian, he is, honestly, overwhelmed. Patrick has no idea what to expect, having spent years barely holding on after the loss of his great love, a stalled acting career, and a lifestyle not-so-suited to young children. But when he realises that parenting isn’t solved with treats and jokes, Patrick’s eyes are opened to a new sense of responsibility and the realisation that, sometimes, being vulnerable is the only way to heal from grief. Tender, charming and laugh-out-loud funny, The Guncle is a testament to finding happiness and peace in the most trying of times. ‘Steven Rowley’s The Guncle is a gift. At once funny, charming and heartbreaking, it’s that rare novel that will have you laughing out loud, even through tears. I have yet to meet a person who did not love this book.’ Sally Hepworth, bestselling author of The Good Sister and The Younger Wife ‘A joyous Auntie Mame spritz! A reading pleasure; pour yourself a tall glass and enjoy, preferably poolside. You deserve it!’ Andrew Sean Greer, winner of the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Less

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you have ever waged war against the local squirrels to prevent them from ransacking your garden, you will know that they are wily beasts who can find loopholes in the most cunning of defences. Capable of remarkable feats of tightrope walking and problem-solving, they are formidable enemies indeed - and that's not to mention the many other pests who can torment the optimistic gardener, from slugs and snails to moles and deer and from bugs and weevils to fungus and blight . . . Anne Wareham has compiled a brisk, but comprehensive guide to recommended anti-pest strategems, including ingenious tricks to keep squirrels from eating all the seed when the feeders fail, and when to tie your sunflowers on to the shed roof. Always a realist, Anne is willing to admit that some pests simply can't be beaten and to advise when you should grow a different plant rather than prolonging the fight. And her range of garden foes extends beyond the natural world, with advice on how to resist fatuous horticultural trends and ignore 'people of unlike mind'. This is an honest, humorous book of advice which will be appreciated by amateur and professional gardeners alike.

Book excerpt: Name's Dart-short for d'Artagnan. You may not think much of a grizzled old German Shepherd with a torn ear and a nasty bite, but, trust me, when you've spent your whole life dogging it out in the pound, you learn appearances can be deceiving. I mean, just look at that squirrel. Nutty, crazy, you name it. If that sly squirrel isn't chewing up Banshee's homework and blaming me, she's stealing my food, following me around the house, stealing my food, biting my tail, and, did I mention the worst part, stealing my food! This is outrageous! A proud purebred-okay, semi-purebred-German Shepherd such as myself can't stand for this! I'll sit. Hey, since you're here, why don't you listen up to my complaints? All my doggy pals like them-and their reviews are a little "ruff."
