Book What Sponsors Want An Inspirational Guide For Event Marketers

Download or read book What Sponsors Want An Inspirational Guide For Event Marketers written by Mark Harrison and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-08-27 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a practical but conceptually grounded view of the future of sponsorship. It is based on the reality that the world of sponsorship marketing is far too focused on impressions, logos, and 'money can't buy experiences' — experiences which are miraculously secured with money. The author asks questions such as: 'Do any corporate sponsors really believe that more logos are what their consumers want?' and, 'do organizations selling sponsorship believe they have nothing more valuable to sell than digital and physical signage?'In a culmination of real-life experiences, industry learnings and third-party professional research, What Sponsors Want provides expert-supported arguments to show that the traditional bronze, silver and gold packages of sponsorship belong to a model of the past. In outlining the conceptual model for successful sponsorship, this book provides five key principles of what sponsors want for you to take on your next sponsorship challenge.

Book Communication of Information Technology Project Sponsors and Managers in Buyer Seller Relationships

Download or read book Communication of Information Technology Project Sponsors and Managers in Buyer Seller Relationships written by Ralf M]ller and published by Universal-Publishers. This book was released on 2003 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communication is frequently identified in the literature as a major factor impacting Information Technology (IT) project failure. The importance of communication is amplified in buyer - seller relationships through the long-term impact of project failures on the future business of IT vendors with their customers. The formal communication between IT project sponsors from buyer firms and project managers from IT vendor firms within business to business markets is investigated through this study. Typical communication patterns between project sponsor and manager in high and low performing projects are identified. The antecedents of these patterns are assessed and the effectiveness of project sponsor - manager communication investigated. A multi-method approach is used with a quantitative analysis of a worldwide survey with 200 responses, followed by a qualitative analysis of three interviews with pairs of project sponsor and manager, each pair from the same project. Results show that project sponsors expect more analytic and verbal communication from project managers. A model shows the development from frequent informal communication to formal communication between project managers and sponsors. A second model shows how communication in high performing projects is determined by the level of collaboration between project managers and sponsors, as well as the degree of structure in project execution. Effectiveness of project sponsor and manager communication is found to be decreased through written statements about recent achievements, and increased through face-to-face meetings of the parties. A series of recommendations is provided to improve project sponsor - manager communication.

Book The Sponsor Effect

Download or read book The Sponsor Effect written by Sylvia Ann Hewlett and published by Harvard Business Press. This book was released on 2019-05-28 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you investing in the right people? Many people know the benefit of finding a sponsor--someone who goes beyond traditional mentorship to partner with a junior-level employee to help build their skills, advocate for them when opportunities arise, and open doors. But few realize that being a sponsor is just as important to career growth as finding one. According to new research from economist and thought leader Sylvia Ann Hewlett, senior executives who sponsor rising talent are 53 percent more likely to be promoted than those who don't. Similarly, middle-level managers who have proteges are 167 percent more likely to be given stretch assignments. Well-chosen proteges contribute stellar performance, steadfast loyalty, and capabilities that you, the sponsor, may lack, thus increasing how fast and how far you can go. But how do you find standout proteges, let alone develop them so that they're able to come through for you and your organization? This book has the answers you need. Combining powerful new data and rich examples drawn from in-depth interviews with leaders from companies such as Unilever, Aetna, Blizzard Entertainment, and EY, The Sponsor Effect provides a seven-step playbook for how you can become a successful sponsor. You'll learn to: Identify the right mix of proteges Include those with differing perspectives Inspire your proteges and ignite their ambition Instruct them to develop key skill sets Inspect your picks for performance and loyalty Instigate a deal, detailing the terms of a relationship Invest three ways and reap the rewards Along the way, you'll discover the enormous benefits of investing in these valuable relationships.

Book The Politics of Promotion

Download or read book The Politics of Promotion written by Bonnie Marcus and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-03-23 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Break into the power circle and build relationships that advance careers The Politics of Promotion offers women the tools and guidance they need to successfully navigate the realities of their organization, emphasizing the need to understand office politics to get the promotions and recognition they deserve. Written by Bonnie Marcus, a professional coach who focuses on helping women advance their careers, this book demonstrates the impact of relationships and sponsorship on career trajectory. Readers will learn why excellence and achievement aren't propulsion enough to get ahead, and how networking with power and intention can make all the difference in perception, reputation, and promotion. Far beyond the typical advice of "be assertive" and "embrace ambition," this book provides a unique and proven method for becoming a bigger player in the workplace and avoiding unexpected trip-ups that can add years to the climb—or end it for good. Many women focus on performance, thinking that good work garners promotion. Too often, they're left outside of the circles of power and influence where decisions are made that affect their careers. The Politics of Promotion provides a framework for breaking into that circle, and taking control of one's own career path, specifically showing how to: Navigate office politics successfully Build and nurture key relationships Get comfortable with self-promotion Avoid potentially disastrous "blindsides" Women who want to advance cannot afford to view politics as "dirty." It's the reality of the workplace, one that differs between organizations and fluctuates over time. Although being savvy about office politics is important for both genders, unconscious bias and stereotypes create special challenges for women. Learning to navigate these complex rules and customs is the key to professional recognition for women, fostering relationships that reach far beyond the next evaluation. Women looking to get ahead will find that the insights in The Politics of Promotion can help smooth the way.
