Board directors, church members, and staff alike are all eagerly seeking leaders who effectively integrate their spirituality and leadership. Pastors and executives, however, often struggle with knowing how to integrate their spiritual values and practices into their leadership and management roles. Designed for pastors, executives, administrators, managers, coordinators, and all who see themselves as leaders and who want to fulfill their God-given purpose, The Spirit-Led Leader addresses the critical fusion of spiritual life and leadership for those who not only want to see results, but who also desire to care just as deeply about who they are and how they lead as they do about what they produce and accomplish. Geoffrion creates a new vision for spiritual leadership as partly an art, partly a result of careful planning, and always a working of the grace of God

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being hurt and heartbroken is a sad reality for most of us. But I'm so thankful for this treasure of a book written by my friend Suzie Eller. Page by page, Suzie will help you understand how God's truth can heal your pain so you can move forward whole and healed. - Lysa TerKeurst, New York Times Bestselling Author and President of Proverbs 31 Ministries Brokenness happens. Tragedy, sin or the painful choices of others all have the ability to disrupt an otherwise contented life. And as a result of our heartache, we often attempt to fix our own brokenness—with disastrous results. If you've tried to heal, but keep ending up in the same place—whether the battle is in your heart or out in the open where everyone can see—The Mended Heart is for you. In this book, author Suzanne Eller tells it like it is: people throw quick fixes at you, or tell you to pull yourself up by your bootstraps (whatever that means). More important, though, she shares the powerful truth of Jesus' mission as outlined in Luke 4:18-21: He came to set free all those who are oppressed and in need of mending. You don’t have to fix yourself—Jesus loves you right where you are. In fact, He has already completed the work that needs to be done. The Mended Heart will encourage you to trust Him, to give and receive grace, and to move ahead even stronger than before … even if others don’t move with you.

Book Spiritual Food

Download or read book Spiritual Food written by Paul Mukendi and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2018-12-29 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Special Book For You, This Book Will Change Your Life. In the changing and often ambiguous world of modern age, Christians need to hold firmly unto the Word of Christ to guide them in their daily life. The Gospel is the light along the path of those who are experiencing dark and difficult days; it's the light of hope to the broken heart. It's Spirit and Life. The Bible emphasizes the theme of food because it wants to make us understand spiritual nutrition. Food is important for the physical and spiritual health. No spirit can live without spiritual food. As the physical body continually needs food, so does the spirit. A major problem is that human nature compels us to focus almost totally upon the physical. We live in a world obsessed with outer improvement. People live in debt to maintain a glamorous appearance. Many people either in ignorance or willingly neglect taking care of their spiritual bodies. Life is not ultimately physical and the flesh is not the whole man. God provides us "Israel's experiences in the wilderness" to let us know that there is a spiritual aspect to life that requires feeding and maintenance, just as surely as the physical. The spiritual food is merely the food for your spirit or your spiritual body. It is amazing to know that you have to nourish your spirit on a daily basis just the same as you do with your flesh. Your spirit has a kind of food that the flesh knows nothing about. What food does your spirit need? Yes, this is a challenging question that deserves a proper answer. Spiritual bodies eat the word of God and drink the presence of God. God and His word are the sustenance of eternal and abundant life. We find in the word of God all the energy, vitamins and proteins that our spiritual body requires. We cannot be spiritually healthy without feeding upon the word of God. We can visit hundreds of different stores to get food to eat, and the food we buy from them will make us feel strong physically. However, there is only one place where we get the food that will feed us spiritually: God is the only provider of spiritual food. God's Word is just as essential to spiritual life as food is to physical life. Just as one must discipline oneself to provide and eat physical food, so must one exercise discipline to seek and ingest spiritual food. If one will not do this, then, just as physical health will decline without adequate food, a person's inadequate spiritual diet will lead to spiritual disease. Each person loves his body and nourishes it. However, many people neglect their inward being, they clean the outside of the cup but the inside is dirty. The real man is not the flesh, but the spirit that dwells inside the body (Job 32:8). It is therefore vitally important to take good care of the spirit rather than the body. The demands of the body, although important, are nothing compared to those of the soul. Seek the right spiritual food and feed your soul. I hope this book will be a source of blessings in your life and God bless you!

In Hope 4 You, First Place 4 Health National Director Carole Lewis examines the theme of hope as presented in God’s Word, and illustrates what hope is and is not through the real-life experiences of Carole and a number of her friends in the faith. Carole leads readers on an exploration of Scripture, which identifies the Holy Spirit as the Source of all hope. With this understanding, believers can walk with God (which restores hope), work with God (which renews hope) and wait on God (which revives hope). Carole underscores that hoping is never passive or inactive; it is productive, meaningful and full of purpose. Hope motivates us to take practical steps toward our mental, physical, emotional and spiritual goals.

They talk about a prayerful relationship with God, "the presence all around us holding everything together." Together they tackle some very tough questions, and through this sharing and reflection, Hope gains a new and deeper understanding of Jesus, God, faith, and religion. Book Hope Food for the Journey Themes

Download or read book Hope Food for the Journey Themes written by Elizabeth McQuoid and published by Inter-Varsity Press. This book was released on 2022-02-17 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of us get hope all wrong. We hope for better health, a generous pay rise or good grades for our children. Our wishful thinking may or may not have a good outcome, but when it does, it never leaves us satisfied. This 30-day devotional in the Food for the Journey series shows us that Christian hope, by contrast, is guaranteed and eternal, dealing with certainties: Christ's death for us, his forgiveness of sin and our hope of heaven when we die. Covering passages from Matthew, 1 Peter, Romans, 2 Corinthians, 1 Thessalonians and Revelation, in this devotional some of the Keswick Convention's most beloved preachers - including Don Carson, Ray Ortlund and Jonathan Lamb - unpack the Bible's teaching on hope. In self-contained daily devotions they show us how we can enjoy the pleasures of earth knowing that they point to the far greater delights we'll experience one day in God's presence. In a small, easily portable format, Hope is perfect for carrying around with you on the go. Like all the Food for the Journey books, its undated format means you can start and finish at any time of the year, and work through it at your own pace. Whether you are looking to renew your own sense of hope and wonder at God's goodness, or want to dig more deeply into what the Bible teaches us about hope, this little devotional is packed full of wisdom that will help strengthen your faith in your walk with Christ. 'The hope set before us' is far greater than we can ever imagine. This devotional shows the glorious contours of our inexhaustible hope, offering encouragement and reassurance, whatever our present circumstances may be.

Book excerpt: Trends and skills for those who offer pastoral care Christian pastoral care has changed a great deal in the past few decades in response to many factors in our rapidly changing world. In part 1 of Nurturing Hope, Lynne Baab discusses seven trends in pastoral care--shifts in who delivers pastoral care, the attitudes and commitments that undergird pastoral care, and societal trends that are shaping pastoral care today. She illustrates them with stories from diverse congregations where Christian caregivers are meeting those challenges in creative and exciting ways. In the second half of the book, Baab presents four practical, doable, energizing skills needed by pastoral carers in our time. Focusing on skills that help carers nurture connections between everyday life and Christian faith, she explores the need for carers to understand common stressors, listen, pray with others, and nurture their personal resilience. Grounded in an understanding of God as the true caregiver and healer, the author offers tips for readers who are training other pastoral carers or developing their own understanding and skills. Each chapter ends with discussion and reflection questions, making the book helpful for groups. Lynne Baab brings readers hope for their caring role and for their own spiritual journey.
