Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Mission is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exist because worship doesn't. Worship is ultimate.' John Piper's contemporary classic draws on key biblical texts to demonstrate that worship is the ultimate goal of the church and that proper worship fuels missionary outreach. Piper offers a biblical defence of God's supremacy in all things, providing a sound theological foundation for missions. He examines whether Jesus is the only way to salvation and issues a passionate plea for God-centredness in the missionary enterprise, seeking to define the scope of the task and the means for reaching 'all nations'. Let the Nations Be Glad! is a trusted resource for missionaries, pastors, church leaders, youth workers, seminary students, and all who want to connect their labours to God's global purposes. This third edition has been revised and expanded throughout and includes new material on the 'prosperity gospel'.

Book The Time of Christ s Return Revealed Revised Edition

Download or read book The Time of Christ s Return Revealed Revised Edition written by Charles P. Pierce and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-08-31 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the real thing! If you want to know when Jesus Christ will return to reign as LORD over all the earth, this book will tell you. The book is controversial because it is unique. The time given directly from the Bible is distant, unlike the majority of current views expounding the theory that the time of Christ’s return is imminent in their lifetime. Multiple witnesses of scripture are used to provide Biblical evidence for definite timing of events. The book of Daniel gives the number of years between when the second Temple was destroyed in 70 AD until the Lord builds the Millennial Temple. Daniel also tells us the number of days it will take the Lord to replace the third Temple with the Millennial Temple. In the Gospel of John, Jesus tells us when He will build the Millennial Temple. Many witnesses throughout the Bible, including the book of Joshua, each confirm the same timing of events. The Church is given truth with the goal of increasing The Kingdom of God. The cause of problems and their effects are revealed along with a solution. Those who have ears to hear will do more than just listen. 523 page count 37 black and white images

Book The Second Coming of Jesus Think Again

Download or read book The Second Coming of Jesus Think Again written by William H. Hogue and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2011-12-12 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The overarching theme of this book is that the Second Coming of Jesus happened in AD 72, and that therefore Jesus is not coming again to rapture the church. The book lays out a thorough exploration in support of this theme. Daniels prophecies are foundational, especially his prophecy of the Seventy Weeks in Dan. 9:24-27 and his prophecy of four sequential Fertile-Crescent, Mediterranean empires (see Dan. 7). The Fourth Empire, or the Roman Empire, is the key to understanding my theme, with stress on the meaning of the horns on the head of the Fourth Beast (see Dan. 7:7-8). As proof of my theme I use the Biblical code of two or three witnesses (see e.g. Deut. 19:15, Matt. 18:16, John 8:17, and I John 5:8). The three witnesses I give are Daniel, Jesus, and the collective apostles, all of whom taught and agreed that Jesus Second Coming would take place before Jesus generation passed away (Matt. 24:34). Furthermore, I show how the epistles of the N.T. reflect this theme by citing scores of passages from them for my readers to consider. Finally in Chapter Five of the book and in five appendixes I show how the Book of Revelation, aptly interpreted, fully agrees with this theme.

Book The Waning Authority of Christ in the Churches

Download or read book The Waning Authority of Christ in the Churches written by A Tozer and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2015-11-13 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has been described by James L. Snyder as Tozer's valedictory. It was his last message ever given to God's people. Written shortly before his death in 1963, it was published two days after his death. It is a challenging message to all who want to walk with Christ. "HERE IS THE BURDEN of my heart; and while I claim for myself no special inspiration I yet feel that this is also the burden of the Spirit. If I know my own heart it is love alone that moves me to write this. What I write here is not the sour ferment of a mind agitated by contentions with my fellow Christians. There have been no such contentions. I have not been abused, mistreated or attacked by anyone. Nor have these observations grown out of any unpleasant experiences that I have had in my association with others. My relations with my own church as well as with Christians of other denominations have been friendly, courteous and pleasant. My grief is simply the result of a condition which I believe to be almost universally prevalent among the churches."

Book Except the Lord Build the House

Download or read book Except the Lord Build the House written by Norman Eberly and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-05-08 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the turn of this century, Tim Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins published their famous Left Behind series, with the underlying plot that Jesus would abruptly appear in the sky and “rapture” (catch away) His church just prior to the worldwide “Tribulation.” Throughout this seven-year period of Tribulation, the main characters who are “left behind” find themselves in a survival struggle under the hideous rule of the Antichrist, as they earnestly await another appearance of Jesus at the end of the Tribulation – clinging to the hope that they will get another chance to be saved. This fictitious story is based on the predominant prophetic teachings that have been widely accepted as orthodoxy among many non-Catholic denominations. But just how accurate are these conclusions when measured up to the Word of God? What does the Bible really say about the Rapture and the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? In Except the Lord Build the House, author Norm Eberly constructs a doctrinal house from the ground up, using the literal renderings of various passages from the Bible as a foundation. Throughout its pages, the reader is urged not to apply “mystical interpretations” to Biblical prophecies, but rather to simply read the Word of God at face value in order to arrive at sound, logical conclusions. Later in the book, numerous prophetic interpretations are introduced for the reader to ponder – but only after a firm foundation that is based on the literal wordings of the Holy Scriptures has been established. Written for scholars, students, and novice Bible readers alike, and with over 100 colorful charts and illustrations, this book offers a fresh approach to the study of Biblical prophecies for the endtime and presents a bold challenge to the status-quo of popular Evangelical teachings concerning the Rapture and the Lord’s imminent return.

Book The Faith of Jesus Christ

    Book Details:
  • Author : Richard B. Hays
  • Publisher : Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing
  • Release : 2002
  • ISBN : 9780802849571

Download or read book The Faith of Jesus Christ written by Richard B. Hays and published by Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing. This book was released on 2002 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this important study Hays argues against the mainstream that any attempt to account for the nature and method of Paul's theological language must first reckon with the centrality of narrative elements in his thought. Through an in-depth investigation of Galatians 3:1-4:11, Hays shows that the framework of Paul's thought is neither a system of doctrines nor his personal religious experience but the "sacred story" of Jesus Christ.

Book Prepare Your Heart for the Midnight Cry

Download or read book Prepare Your Heart for the Midnight Cry written by R. T. Kendall and published by SPCK. This book was released on 2016-11-17 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thrilling volume will help readers prepare their hearts in expectation, be watchful for the approaching work of God, and build a deeper relationship with Him. Through Spirit-inspired teaching, respected scholar and theologian R. T. Kendall uses Jesus’s parable of the ten virgins to describe the condition of the church in the last days. Many Charismatics and Pentecostals assume that what we have seen in the one hundred years since Azusa Street is the final movement of God before the Second Coming. Kendall explains that this is not so and reveals that a movement of the Holy Spirit, which is one hundred times greater than anything yet experienced — indeed the greatest since Pentecost — is about to unfold. It’s time to wake up! ‘A timely warning . . . written with passion and conviction’ Ken Costa, Churchwarden, Holy Trinity Brompton, London ‘R. T. Kendall rightly calls us to hope and work for the day when the Word and Spirit will come together—and what a revival that will be!’ Dr. Craig Keener, Professor, New Testament History, Asbury Theological Seminary, USA

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Normal Christian Church Life is a record of messages given during conferences held in Shanghai and Hankow. Watchman Nee spoke to his fellow workers on the principles in the New Testament concerning the practical arrangement of the churches, the ministry, and the work. In his speaking, he honestly examined his own work before the Lord in the light of these principles, provided adjustment and encouragement to his co-workers, and confirmed through personal testimony that the practice of the normal Christian church life revealed in the New Testament can be recovered.

Book The Church in the Coming Great Tribulation

Download or read book The Church in the Coming Great Tribulation written by Steve Urick and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2013-06-21 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christians today are widely being taught that the next event on the prophetic calendar is the any moment and signless Rapture of the Church. Thus, the bride of Christ will not have to go through the Great Tribulation. But is that what the Bible truly teaches? The Church in the Coming Great Tribulation examines the biblical doctrine of the Rapture and its timing in relation to the Day of the Lord, as revealed by Jesus and the apostles. If you have questions about the Rapture, or doubt some of the things that are being taught by modern-day prophecy teachers, this timely work sheds light on the subject and will help clear up any confusion you might have.

Book The Spiritual Return of Christ Within the Church

Download or read book The Spiritual Return of Christ Within the Church written by Richard De Bary and published by . This book was released on 2015-06-29 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Spiritual Return of Christ Within the Church: Papers on Christian Theism The book is an essay, or rather an adventure, in Christian Mysticism bearing marks of close kinship with the Theologia Germanica, but distinguished from it, and still more from the writings of the Spanish Mystics, St John of the Cross and St Theresa, by the scientific basis of its metaphysics. It is, indeed, a translation of the world-process, as revealed by modern science, into the terms of a theistic metaphysic. The laws of this process are, for the author, but the modes of energy of the Eternal Reason; the sole purpose of that energy is redemptive; and Redemption means the guidance of the whole movement of material life, by the Spirit or Eternal Reason inherent in it, back to the ultimate Rest in Unity which is the natural mode of the Spiritual. The book, then, is an attempt, very rare in modern theology, to establish the vital connection of human experience and the world-process as both of them expressions of the Word or Eternal Reason of God. Though the appeal is made to experience and history, yet Realism is so extended into conceptions of the Spirit World as to meet the Hegelian identification of thought and things. But the treatment is not philosophical, but mystical and religious. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
