Book Mental Disorders Spiritual Healing

Download or read book Mental Disorders Spiritual Healing written by Jean-Claude Larchet and published by Angelico Press. This book was released on 2005 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work, the third panel of a triptych dedicated by the author to the notion of illness derived from the patristic and hagiographic texts of the Christian East from the first to the fourteenth centuries, makes an essential contribution to the history of mental illnesses and their therapies in a domain very little studied until now. Confronted by the numerous problems still posed today in understanding these illnesses, their treatment, and their relationship to those who are sick, he shows the importance offered for reflection and current practice by early Christian thought and experience. After indicating how the Fathers understood the psyche and its relationship with body and spirit, the author gives a detailed analysis of the different causes they attribute to mental illness and the various treatments recommended. At the same time he shows how, relying on fundamental Christian values, they manifest a constant solicitude and respect for the sick, and how they are at pains to integrate them into community life and have them participate in their own healing, foreshadowing in this way the needs and aspirations of our own time. The last part discloses the deep significance of one of the strangest and most fascinating forms of asceticism the Christian East has known: 'folly for the sake of Christ', a madness feigned with the goal of attaining a high degree of humility, but also a way well-suited, through a close experience of their condition, to help those who are often among, today as in the past, the most destitute. Jean-Claude Larchet is docteur dès lettres et sciences humaines, docteur en théologie, and docteur d'État en philosophie. The author of Thérapeutique des maladies spirituelles (Paris: Editions de l'Ancre, 1991) and The Theology of Illness (Crestwood, New York: St Vladimir's Seminary Press, 2002), he is a specialist in questions of health, sickness, and healing. He is today one of the foremost St Maximus the Confessor specialists.

Book Spiritual Healing in Hospitals and Clinics

Download or read book Spiritual Healing in Hospitals and Clinics written by Sandy Edwards and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2021-09-07 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: • Presents the positive results of the author’s two-year clinical trial of spiritual healing (energy medicine) involving 200 hospital patients • Shares intriguing evidence from case studies as well as other research projects that negate the myth that energy healing is only a placebo • Explores how spiritual healing not only led to improved outcomes for patients, but also faster recovery times and thus less time spent in hospitals Seven years after qualifying to become a spiritual healer, Sandy Edwards approached a consultant gastroenterologist at a city hospital and offered to give healing to his patients as a volunteer. She provided healing sessions alongside conventional medical treatments, documenting the effects in a scientific way, and the doctor was surprised at the overwhelmingly positive outcomes. In partnership with the University of Birmingham, as well as a national grant to fund the study, Sandy instigated the largest clinical research trial of spiritual healing in the world. Revealing the outstanding results of this two-year medical trial, which involved 200 chronically ill hospital patients, Sandy demonstrates that spiritual healing (energy medicine) can support the healing process of a patient, whether they are in pain, sick, stressed, or depressed. In many cases, these patients had been suffering for a long time with little hope of recovery. Yet they improved substantially in numerous ways after receiving just five 20-minute healing sessions. Illustrating how spiritual healing helps a patient from pain and distress through to recovery, Sandy shares intriguing evidence from case studies as well as other research projects that negate the myth that energy healing is only a placebo. She offers statements from medical professionals who have witnessed the results firsthand and also details a quick technique to relieve pain that readers can apply in their own lives. Showing how spiritual healing not only led to improved outcomes for patients, but also faster recovery times and thus less time spent in hospitals, Sandy moves us one step closer to widespread acceptance for spiritual healing and energy medicine.

Book Poems for Mental and Spiritual Healing

Download or read book Poems for Mental and Spiritual Healing written by Rufus Johnson and published by . This book was released on 2022-05 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I started to write because of reoccurring memories. I work all day I could not shut my mind down. All my memories from childhood keep coming back while I wanted to test. My inner voice is talking to me which made me decide to write words down. I decided to put them in writing for the others to relate to. That serves as an inspiration for me to write poems and come up with the title "Mental and Spiritual Healing." I call it Mental and Spiritual Healing because mental serves as my reoccurring memories and spiritual came much later because the poems took a life of its own. I just hope to reach one person with my words.

Book Care for the Mental and Spiritual Health of Black Men

This book was released on 2019-11-01 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Black men need hope to survive and, ultimately, flourish. As mental health is a critical but often neglected issue, especially among Black men, Care for the Mental and Spiritual Health of Black Men examines that sensitive topic in conjunction with reflections on race, gender, sexuality, and class to offer a hopeful and constructive framework for care and counseling, particularly for Black men. These are not separate from spiritual health and growth, as well, but both are integral to holistic, dynamic wellbeing. In this, the author provides a careful and critical analysis of spiritual hope and healing as ingredient to individual and communal flourishing. As such, this volume will be a vital resource for health practitioners, spiritual caregivers, and providers in community care who serve to bolster the mental wellbeing of Black men.
