Download or read book Spirit Scripture and Theology written by Roger Stronstad and published by Flipside Digital Content Company Inc.. This book was released on 2018-10-05 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new edition Spirit Scripture and Theology, originally published by APTS Press in 1995, is presented here again with a new chapter on prophecy. Thanks to digital technology that was not available then, this valuable book can now be made available to a much broader audience. This book develops in greater measure the ideas that Roger set forth in his well received book, The Charismatic Theology of St. Luke (1984). Those ideas include Luke's theological purpose, the theological significance of biblical narrative; and the vocational nature of the Spirit's empowering in the Lukan corpus. He also discusses the unity and diversity within the New Testament, especially the ways in which the Lukan, Johannine and Pauline corpuses contribute to a holistic theology of the Spirit. Luke's distinctive pnuematology on service is also featured in comparison the pnuematologies of John and Paul. Finally, he concludes this new edition with a new chapter on the Rebirth of Prophecy. This book is yet another reason why Roger Stronstad must rightly be regarded one of the most influencal Pentecostal scholars of our generation.

Book Holy Spirit Power Knowing the Voice Guidance and Person of the Holy Spirit

Download or read book Holy Spirit Power Knowing the Voice Guidance and Person of the Holy Spirit written by Paul Backholer and published by ByFaith Media. This book was released on 2018-01-24 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who is the Holy Spirit and how can you walk in His power? Jesus walked in the power of the Holy Spirit and declared His disciples would do even greater works (Luke 4:14, John 14:12). Today, God’s power can still be released in and through Christians who will meet the Holy Spirit on His terms. In this book, the author introduces the ministry of the Holy Spirit, how His power can transform us and why we should know Him in all His fullness, as an indwelling Person. Drawing from the powerful experiences of Rees Howells, Evan Roberts and many other influential servants of the Lord Jesus Christ, the author unveils the secrets of going deeper with God, and how to grow beyond being blessed by the Holy Spirit, to be filled with the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19). Paul Backholer is a British broadcaster and the founder of ByFaith Media (www.ByFaith.org). He is the director of ByFaith TV which airs on multiple platforms around the world and is the producer of several Christian documentaries. Paul is the author of Heaven: A Journey to Paradise, How Christianity Made the Modern World, The Exodus Evidence and The Ark of the Covenant – Investigating the Ten Leading Claims. Paul studied in a British Bible college in the 1990s and has travelled to over forty nations on Christian endeavours.

Book The Holy Spirit in the New Testament

Download or read book The Holy Spirit in the New Testament written by David Ewert and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2004-10-14 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In fifteen thorough chapters David Ewert surveys the whole range of New Testament authors to discover what they have to say on the Holy Spirit and what this means for the life of the believer and for the church. To add another book on the Holy Spirit to the great number available is a daunting undertaking, the author admits. One can only hope that by ordering the biblical materials in a new way, familiar truths will shine with new luster. Perhaps by bringing the relevant biblical passages to bear on the life of the church in our day old truths can be seen in a new light. The material is organizzed in three parts: (1) The Promise of the Spirit, considering all the passages of the Gospels that speak of the Holy Spirit; (2) The Coming of the Spirit, dealing with the Pentecostal outpouring of the Spirit in the book of Acts and the continual overflow of the Spirit in the expansion of the church; and (3) The Spirit in the Life of the Believer, studying what the apostles have to say about the Holy Spirit in the epistles. Many have instinctively sensed that the teaching of the New Testament on the Holy Spirit is a key that unlocks many doors, the author notes. Jesus likened the Spirit to the wind, with its mysterious and numinous character. Just as we can hear and feel the blowing of the wind, by God's grace we can experience the presence and the power of the Spirit, if we are willing to get in the path of God's wind.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The Secret Language of Spirit is the result of many years of dynamic mediumship. It soars with hope and conviction.” —Whitley Strieber, #1 New York Times–bestselling author The Secret Language of Spirit is the culmination of award-winning author and psychic medium William Stillman’s wisdom and insights in a fascinating exploration of the sometimes blatant, sometimes hidden spiritual symbolism in our everyday lives. With accessible language, easy-to-understand explanations, and fascinating anecdotes, Stillman introduces to the open-minded layperson an alternate lens through which to view daily interactions with Spirit. Topics unique to this compelling new work include: A thorough explanation of Heaven’s inner workings Recognizing Spirit-speak—the silent but ever-present signs and signals that surround us Decoding symbolic patterns found in nature, dreams, our names, and the manifestation of “threes” Associative links in memory that correlate spiritually to music and scents Stillman’s most powerful observations may be found in the chapter that correlates spiritual sensitivity with persons with autism, mental illness, and dementia—individuals whose “gibberish” is often dismissed as pathology but may actually provide glimpses into another realm. The Secret Language of Spirit concludes with an empowering chapter that addresses the concepts of abundance and achieving authenticity with Love’s Foot Rule—12 fundamental tenets. Stillman also introduces the principles of passion, pursuit, and prosperity, and how to manifest them in concert with Spirit. “Particularly illuminating are the connections he makes in the communications of people with dementia, mental illness and autism. This pioneering book offers insights that will both inform and inspire readers.” —Raymond Moody, author of Life After Life

Book Where the Spirit Is

    Book Details:
  • Author : R. Shea Watts
  • Publisher : Wipf and Stock Publishers
  • Release : 2023-03-06
  • ISBN : 1666791814
  • Pages : 166 pages

Download or read book Where the Spirit Is written by R. Shea Watts and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-03-06 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation explores the experiential contours of Pentecostalism as a liberative praxis. The connection between Pentecostalism and social change is a burgeoning line of inquiry, particularly in the Global South, but this study focuses on the history of Pentecostalism in the US, beginning with the production and circulation of the African American Spirituals. Bringing theories of affect into conversation with ritual studies, this interdisciplinary work traces personal stories and experiences from the author and examines them in light of Pentecostal traditions that stem from the Azusa Street Revival in Los Angeles, California, the birthplace of the Pentecostal movement. William J. Seymour's vision at Azusa was egalitarian and transgressed the societal boundaries and norms of race and gender in the early twentieth century. Pentecostalism was and is informed by Black, queer, female, and other voices often silent or rendered invisible. Without this representation, Pentecostalism is simply one tradition among many co-opted and appropriated for the ongoing colonial projects of the modern Western world. Therefore, this book explores Blackpentecostal tradition: specifically, The Fellowship of Affirming Ministries (TFAM), a predominately Black LGBTQ+ movement that integrates Pentecostal worship and theology with an inclusive, liberative theology.

Download or read book Spirit Life written by Vincent Boateng and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-09-25 with total page 684 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christians today are asking: ÒWhat does it mean to live and walk in the Spirit, and how do I live by walking in the Spirit as instructed by the Bible? How do I, BY THE SPIRIT, put to death the deeds of the body, so that I will LIVE, and not DIE?Ó This is an urgent question; it demands an immediate answer, because it is a matter of LIFE and DEATH. And yet, there is no major book until now that authoritatively and definitively offers a practical, Scriptural answer. "Spirit Life" is the first book to present the ChristianÕs walk in the Spirit as an all-encompassing lifestyle that comprises walking in love, walking by faith and not by sight, walking in the Word of God or in the truth, walking in the light, walking in newness of life, and walking in Christ. It also offers practical advice and guidance on how to accomplish each.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This work deals with issues surrounding the manifestation of the Spirit in prayer from theological and practical points of view. It has broad appeal to charismatic, Pentecostal, and parachurch groups, yet it has reached into evangelical, mainline, Catholic Pentecostal, and ecumenical groups because of its reasoned theological and biblical content"--P. 4 of cover.

Book Christian Peoples of the Spirit

Download or read book Christian Peoples of the Spirit written by Stanley M. Burgess and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2011-07-25 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among all groups in Christendom, the Pentecostal/Charismatic movement is second in size only to the Roman Catholic Church, with growth that shows no signs of abatement. Its adherents declare the Pentecostal Movement, which began at Azusa Street in 1906, to be unprecedented in Christian history since the first century of the Church in its embrace of manifestations of the Holy Spirit such as divine healing, miracles, and speaking in tongues. Yet although it may be unprecedented in size and rate of growth, Stanley M. Burgess argues that is hardly unprecedented in concept. In Christian Peoples of the Spirit, Burgess collects documentary evidence for two thousand years of individuals and groups who have evidenced Pentecostal/charismatic-like spiritual giftings, worship, and experience. The documents in this collection, bolstered by concise editorial introductions, offer the original writings of a wide variety of “peoples of the spirit,” from Tertullian and Antony of the Desert to the Shakers and Sunder Singh, as well as of their enemies or detractors. Though virtually all of the parties in this volume considered themselves Spirit-gifted, or given special qualities by God, they are in many ways as different from one another as the cultures from which they have emerged. In providing such an impressive array of voices, Burgess convincingly demonstrates that there have indeed been Spirit-filled worship and charismatic saints in all periods of church history.
