Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1 957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 32 (thesis year 1987) a total of 12,483 theses titles from 22 Canadian and 176 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 32 reports theses submitted in 1987, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Magnetic Properties and Moessbauer Spectra of Several Iron III Dicarboxylic Acid Complexes

Download or read book Magnetic Properties and Moessbauer Spectra of Several Iron III Dicarboxylic Acid Complexes written by Chester T. Dziobkowski and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polymeric iron (III) complexes of malonic, succinic, furmaric, and phthalic acids have been prepared and studied by variable-temperature (15-300 K) magnetic susceptibility, 57Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy, and infrared spectroscopy. In addition, properties of iron(III) acetate have been reinvestigated using these same techniques. The magnetic susceptibilities of these complexes have been described by a theoretical model which includes, in addition to intramodular exchange terms, a parameter describing intermolecular spin-exchange effects. As a consequence of this model it was not necessary to assume an isosceles triangular arrangement of the iron(III) ions in these materials in order to explain the magnetic data. Thus, the inclusion of an intertrimer exchange parameter, which varies from 1/2.1 cm for the acetate complex to 1/11.7 cm for the o-phthalate complex allowed for a complete description of the temperature-dependence of the magnetic susceptibilty of these compounds. Mossbauer and infrared spectroscopic studies were utilized to ascertain the correctness of oxidation state and structural assignments. (Author).

Book A Study of Magnetic and Spectroscopic Properties of Fe II Fe III 2O CH3CO2 6L3 L

Download or read book A Study of Magnetic and Spectroscopic Properties of Fe II Fe III 2O CH3CO2 6L3 L written by Chester T. Dziobkowski and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mixed-valence iron (II, III, III) acetates, (Fe3O(CH3CO2)6L3), where L= water or pyridine, have been prepared and studied by Mossbauer, infrared, and optical spectroscopy and magnetic susceptibility methods. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility data for the aquo complex are interpreted on the basis of HDVV S2 = 2, S1 = S3 = 5/2 spin exchange model with J12 = j23 = 1/-50 cm and J13 = 1/14.5 cm. An intervalence transfer band is observed at 1/138000 cm in the room temperature electronic spectrum of the aquo complex. Mossbauer spectra of these compounds are markedly temperature dependent. At 17K absorptions due to distinct Fe(II) and Fe(III) sites are observed while at 300 K a single absorption is observed. Spectra at intermediate temperatures are modeled by assuming intratrimer electronic relaxation between pairs of iron ions. The activation energy for relaxation derived from this model is 1/470 cm for the aquo complex. This energy is equal to the barrier to intramolecular, intervalence thermal electron transfer. (Author).

Book excerpt: By browsing about 10 000 000 scientific articles of over 200 major journals mainly in a 'cover to cover approach' some 200 000 publications were selected. The extracted data is part of the following fundamental material research fields: crystal structures (S), phase diagrams (also called constitution) (C) and the comprehensive field of intrinsic physical properties (P). This work has been done systematically starting with the literature going back to 1900. The above mentioned research field codes (S, C, P) as well as the chemical systems investigated in each publication were included in the present work. The aim of the Inorganic Substances Bibliography is to provide researchers with a comprehensive compilation of all up to now published scientific publications on inorganic systems in only three handy volumes.
