Book Speckle Wave Interactions in Application to Holography and Nonlinear Optics

Download or read book Speckle Wave Interactions in Application to Holography and Nonlinear Optics written by Boris Ya. Zel'dovich and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1994-12-22 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explains the principles of laser beam interactions applied to the recording, readout, and processing of information-carrying optical waves. It treats both quantitatively and qualitatively the specific effects that appear due to the fine-scale speckle structure of the spatial profile of a laser-originated wave. The basics of the nature, physics, and properties of the speckle fields, as well as the fundamentals of holography and nonlinear optics, are discussed.

Book Interferometry in Speckle Light

Download or read book Interferometry in Speckle Light written by P. Jacquot and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-02-02 with total page 661 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings reflect the work presented at the conference "Interferometry in Speckle Light: Theory and Applications", held at the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, (EPFL), the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland. The event took place from September 25 to September 28, 2000. Thanks to the diligence of the authors, this book has been published just in time for the conference. Writing this preface in July, in anticipation of the conference, we have tried to envisage how this book will benefit the quality of discourse between authors and attendees. "Interferometry in Speckle Light: Theory and Applications" results from a bottom-up approach and is original in several ways. This conference is not part of a series; on the contrary, it is a single event. The idea of gathering scientists and engineers for a general discussion on the theory and the practice of interferometry, involving rough, non-optically polished objects, was "in the air". An opportunity of this sort was not provided by any of the conferences scheduled when the present one was conceived. For this reason, it was easy to convince a small number of renowned researchers, all of them active in the field of holographic and speckle interferometry, to organize a conference. To be specific, they are the people listed below as members of the scientific and local committees. At the same time, a particular circumstance, namely the retirement of Professor L. Pflug, helped to detennine the location of the meeting.

Download or read book Fringe 2009 written by Wolfgang Osten and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-04-28 with total page 808 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 21 years ago it was a joint idea with Hans Rottenkolber to organize a workshop dedicated to the discussion of the latest results in the automatic processing of fringe patterns. This idea was promoted by the insight that automatic and high precision phase measurement techniques will play a key role in all future industrial and scientific applications of optical metrology. A couple of months later more than 50 specialists from East and West met in East Berlin, the capital of the former GDR, to spend 3 days with the discussion of new principles of fringe processing. In the stimulating atmoshere the idea was born to repeat the workshop and to organize the meeting in an olympic schedule. And thus meanwhile 20 years have been passed and we have today Fringe number six. However, such a workshop takes place in a dynamic environment. Therefore the main topics of the previous events were always adapted to the most interesting subjects of the new period. In 1993 the workshop took place in Bremen and was dedicated to new principles of optical shape measurement, setup calibration, phase unwrapping and nondestructive testing, while in 1997 new approaches in multi-sensor metrology, active measurement strategies and hybrid processing technologies played a central role. 2001, the first meeting in the 21st century, was focused to optical methods for micromeasurements, hybrid measurement technologies and new sensor solutions for industrial inspection.

Book Coherent Optics

    Book Details:
  • Author : Werner Lauterborn
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2013-03-09
  • ISBN : 3662052733
  • Pages : 353 pages

Download or read book Coherent Optics written by Werner Lauterborn and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the advent of the laser, coherent optics has developed at an ever increasing pace. There is no doubt about the reason. Coherent light, with its properties so different from the light we are surrounded by, lends itself to numerous applications in science, technology, and life. The bandwidth of coherent optics reaches from holography and interferometry, with its gravitational wave detectors, to the CD player for music, movies, and computers; from the laser scalpel, which allows surgical cutting in the interior of the eye without destruction of the layers penetrated in front of it, to optical information and data processing with its great impact on society. According to its importance, the foundations of coherent optics should be conveyed to students of natural sciences as early as possible to better prepare them for their future careers as physicists or engineers. The present book tries to serve this need: to promote the foundations of coherent optics. Special attention is paid to a thorough presentation of the fundamentals. This should enable the reader to follow the contemporary literature from a firm basis. The wealth of material, of course, makes necessary a restriction of the topics included. Therefore, from the main areas of optics, wave optics and the classical description oflight is given most ofthe space available. The book starts with a quick trip through the history of physics from the viewpoint of optics.
