Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Specific Heat of Liquid Ammonia The previous determinations of specific heat of liquid ammonia are represented graphically in Fig. 1, together with the results of the present measurements. None of the previous measurements extend to temperatures below 0° C. Von Strombeck 1 (1890) used the method of mixtures. About 128 g of ammonia contained in a steel bomb were used in a calori meter having a water equivalent of about 1 kg. The heat capacity from 30° to 60° was observed. Eight experiments were made. Book Latent Heat of Vaporization of Ammonia Classic Reprint

Download or read book Latent Heat of Vaporization of Ammonia Classic Reprint written by Nathan S. Osborne and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-24 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Latent Heat of Vaporization of Ammonia The equation as developed above expresses the heat, Qabc, added when the entire amount, am, is evaporated at a constant temperature He and removed at the constant pressure are and con stant temperature 09. In the actual experiments, however, the temperatures of evaporation and superheat do vary somewhat during the process of evaporation and removal. It is therefore n Acessary to generalize equation (1 3) so as to take account of these variations. Obviously, only the terms which depend upon Ge and 08 need be considered with respect to the change which is required in the equation. Book The Properties of Saturated and Superheated Ammonia Vapor Classic Reprint

This book was released on 2018-01-10 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Properties of Saturated and Superheated Ammonia Vapor The first attempt to establish the fundamental equations for the vapor (ff ammonia and to compute tables of its properties was made by Ledoux.6 These equations and resulting tables, resting as they do upon unsound hypotheses and meager experimental data, are, in the light of later investigations, quite inaccurate. The next theoretical investigation of the subject was undertaken by Zeuner,7 who computed new constants for ammonia, in the equation of state of the form already applied by him to steam, and used by Ledoux for ammonia. He also constructed empirical formulas for the inner and outer latent heat, and the specific heat'of the liquid, and by use of these formulas computed tables which. Appeared in the earlier editions of his thermodynamics.8 In the later editions9 the values thus calculated have still been used for temperatures below 32 F., but results of later experimental deter minations have been used above that temperature. These tables for ammonia vapor are given in both English and French units. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Properties of Steam and Ammonia Classic Reprint

Download or read book Properties of Steam and Ammonia Classic Reprint written by G. A. Goodenough and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-27 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Properties of Steam and Ammonia The tables of the properties of saturated and superheated steam here presented are based on a new formulation the essential features of which are discussed in the first section of the book. A more complete exposi tion will be found in Bulletin No. 75, Engineering Experiment Station. University of Illinois. The new theory correlates perfectly the experi ments on the volume and specific heat of superheated steam; it gives values of the heat content of saturated steam that agree with those deduced by Davis from the throttling experiments; and. In general, it meets satisfactorily all the tests furnished by the available experimental evidence. The tables derived from the formulation are necessarily con sistent. And they are at the same time extremely accurate. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book The Journal of the American Chemical Society Vol 40

Download or read book The Journal of the American Chemical Society Vol 40 written by Arthur B. Lamb and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 1026 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Journal of the American Chemical Society, Vol. 40: January-June, 1918 About 29 g. Of ammonia were contained in a steel bomb of cc. Capacity. The heat capacity was determined with reference to water by a method of substitution in which a second identical bomb was adjusted to contain such an amount of water that the heat capacities of the two bombs were the same. The calorimetric method of mixtures was em ployed to measure the relative heat capacities. The calorimeter consisted of a Dewar vessel. An ingenious automatic device was used to transfer the bomb to the calorimeter from the preheater in a definite manner. T he results of two determinations are given, being the mean specific heat capacities between 0° and and between 20° and respectively. This book was released on 2016-11-13 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Specific Heat and Heat of Fusion of Ice The present investigation is one of a series undertaken, at the request of the refrigeration industries; for the determination of constants which are of fundamental importance in the design and operation of refrigeration machinery. A determination made at the Bureau 1 of the heat of fusion of ice was published in 1913. In this publication is given a review of previous work on this subject. As stated there the' results presented are subject to a slight uncertainty on account of the lack of adequate knowledge of the specific heat of ice near the melting point. For this reason and also on account of the direct technical significance of the specific heat of ice, it has been made the subject of the work here presented.
