Book Computer Aided Geometric Design

Download or read book Computer Aided Geometric Design written by Robert E. Barnhill and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer Aided Geometric Design covers the proceedings of the First International Conference on Computer Aided Geometric Design, held at the University of Utah on March 18-21, 1974. This book is composed of 15 chapters and starts with reviews of the properties of surface patch equation and the use of computers in geometrical design. The next chapters deal with the principles of smooth interpolation over triangles and without twist constraints, as well as the graphical representation of surfaces over triangles and rectangles. These topics are followed by discussions of the B-spline curves and surfaces; mathematical and practical possibilities of UNISURF; nonlinear splines; and some piecewise polynomial alternatives to splines under tension. Other chapters explore the smooth parametric surfaces, the space curve as a folded edge, and the interactive computer graphics application of the parametric bi-cubic surface to engineering design problems. The final chapters look into the three-dimensional human-machine communication and a class of local interpolating splines. This book will prove useful to design engineers.

Book Nanotechnology Concepts Methodologies Tools and Applications

Download or read book Nanotechnology Concepts Methodologies Tools and Applications written by Management Association, Information Resources and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2014-02-28 with total page 1654 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past few decades, devices and technologies have been significantly miniaturized from one generation to the next, providing far more potential in a much smaller package. The smallest of these recently developed tools are miniscule enough to be invisible to the naked eye. Nanotechnology: Concepts, Methodologies, Tools, and Applications describes some of the latest advances in microscopic technologies in fields as diverse as biochemistry, materials science, medicine, and electronics. Through its investigation of theories, applications, and new developments in the nanotechnology field, this impressive reference source will serve as a valuable tool for researchers, engineers, academics, and students alike.

Book Knowledge Intensive CAD

Download or read book Knowledge Intensive CAD written by Martti Mäntylä and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-03-19 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer Aided Design (CAD) technology plays a key role in today's advanced manufacturing environment. To reduce the time to market, achieve zero defect quality the first time, and use available production and logistics resources effectively, product and design process knowledge covering the whole product life-cycle must be used throughout product design. Once generated, this intensive design knowledge should be made available to later life-cycle activities. Due to the increasing concern about global environmental issues and rapidly changing economical situation worldwide, design must exhibit high performance not only in quality and productivity, but also in life-cycle issues, including extended producer's liability. These goals require designers and engineers to use various kinds of design knowledge intensively during product design and to generate design information for use in later stages of the product life-cycle such as production, distribution, operation, maintenance, reclamation, and recycling. Therefore, future CAD systems must incorporate product and design process knowledge, which are not explicitly dealt with in the current systems, in their design tools and design object models.

Book Tutorials on Emerging Methodologies and Applications in Operations Research

Download or read book Tutorials on Emerging Methodologies and Applications in Operations Research written by Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences. National Meeting and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Operations Research emerged as a quantitative approach to problem-solving in World War II. Its founders, who were physicists, mathematicians, and engineers, quickly found peace-time uses for this new field. Moreover, we can say that Operations Research (OR) was born in the same incubator as computer science, and through the years, it has spawned many new disciplines, including systems engineering, health care management, and transportation science. Fundamentally, Operations Research crosses discipline domains to seek solutions on a range of problems and benefits diverse disciplines from finance to bioengineering. Many disciplines routinely use OR methods. Many scientific researchers, engineers, and others will find the methodological presentations in this book useful and helpful in their problem-solving efforts. OR’s strengths are modeling, analysis, and algorithm design. It provides a quantitative foundation for a broad spectrum of problems, from economics to medicine, from environmental control to sports, from e-commerce to computational geometry. The primary purpose of TUTORIALS ON EMERGING METHODOLOGIES AND APPLICATIONS IN OPERATIONS RESEARCH is to provide a reference for practitioners and academics who seek a clear, concise presentation of developing methodologies, hence providing themselves with the capability to apply these methods to new problems. The field of Operations Research is always changing. Its changes are driven by the technology it uses and that it extends, and the applications that it affects. Relevant changes in the field have a permanent effect on the conduct of OR and are vital to anyone who wants to be current in the field. Each chapter presents a new developing methodology in Operations Research. Each chapter examines each topic with clarity and depth, and organizes the examination around the following questions: (1) What the developing methodology basically is about? (2) Why is it important? and (3) Where can I learn more?
