Book ESG Investment

Download or read book ESG Investment written by Naoko Nemoto and published by Brookings Institution Press. This book was released on 2020-02-25 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Investors are increasingly integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues into their investment decisions. Currently, more than half of managed assets in Europe are linked to ESG factors, while in Japan, ESG investment has grown dramatically in recent years. In principle, ESG investment can help to bridge the gap between profit-driven investment and economic and social sustainability in Asia and the Pacific. However, a number of challenges, such as unclear and varied sustainable investment criteria, untested impacts on corporate value and social issues, and the lack of quality data cloud the potential for increasing ESG investment. This book aims to contribute to developing a framework for future analysis and monitoring to ensure the growth of ESG investment.

Book Climate Change and Tourism in the Asia Pacific

Download or read book Climate Change and Tourism in the Asia Pacific written by Bruce Prideaux and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-09-07 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate change will exert an enormous impact on all societies in the medium to long term. Tourism, as both a commercial activity and social phenomenon is not immune. To date, industry has been slow to recognise the scale of the threat posed by a changing climate on its operations and consumers have been extremely reluctant to modify their travel behaviours. The Asia Pacific region is well on the way to being the 21st Century powerhouse of tourism, however the manner in which it develops will, in part, be determined by how the global community responds to climate change. This book examines climate change issues related to tourism in the Asia Pacific region. Chapters discuss demand and supply side issues, explore government policy responses and introduce several new adaptation models. The book also calls for a more effective linking of social science research with the scientific discourse to create long term resolution of and adaptation to this issue. This book was published as a special issue of Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The approach to managing human resources has changed significantly in China over the last twenty-five years as its transformation from a state planned economy to a market-oriented economy continues. By adopting a broad notion of HRM, while remaining sympathetic to the strong emphasis on relationship management in the Chinese culture, Fang Lee Cooke builds on the foundations of traditional Chinese HRM practice and brings it right up to date, including analysis of currently under-explored issues such as diversity management, talent management, new pay schemes, and performance management. Including extensive first hand empirical data and pedagogical features such as vignettes, case studies, and further reading lists. This book will be of great use on upper level undergraduate, post graduate and MBA courses covering international/Chinese management and HRM as well as appealing to practitioners, students and scholars of Chinese Business, Asian Business and Human Resource Management.

Book International Environmental Cooperation

Download or read book International Environmental Cooperation written by Paul G. Harris and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation As the twenty-first century commences, the countries of Pacific Asia are grappling with the impact of regional development, industry, and growth on their increasingly acute environmental problems. International Environmental Cooperation: Politics and Diplomacy in Pacific Asia brings together innovative and insightful studies of international environmental politics in this increasingly critical part of the world. The first section of the book examines many of the issues and actors impacting international environmental cooperation, highlighting important themes such as cooperation between developed and developing countries, international justice, and regional environmental security. This section also illustrates key features of specific multilateral environmental agreements and the competing interests of important national bodies, international organizations, multinational corporations, and nongovernmental entities. The second section focuses on environmental diplomacy and regime-building in Pacific Asia, examining issues such as acid rain, nuclear waste, deforestation, and conflict over regional seas. Contributors from Asia, Europe, and North America bring an international perspective to questions of environmental cooperation. International Environmental Cooperation provides policymakers, citizens, scholars and students with essential information for understanding and addressing some of the world's most significant environmental problems.

Book Environment Education and Society in the Asia Pacific

Download or read book Environment Education and Society in the Asia Pacific written by David Yencken and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2000 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important volume explores the influence of global environmental discourses, and local traditions and practices, in twelve countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Two fundamental, interlocking questions are addressed: To what degree is a common environmental discourse emerging within the region? To what degree do environmental attitudes and behaviour remain embedded in local traditions and practices? Answers to these questions are sought on the basis of two parallel groups of studies. The first closely examines cultural influences in individual countries, including traditional attitudes to nature and the contemporary politics of the environment. Against this background, the second study examines the attitudes of young people across the region, based upon extensive survey and focus group data. Emerging from these investigations are striking findings that illuminate the patterns of social and environmental conditions within the Asia-Pacific. Offering a wealth of original material and data, and important conclusions concerning the direction of environmental policy and education in the region, the book will be of value to students, researchers and policy-makers alike.
