Book Handbook of LOGISTICS SHIPPING Commercial Terminologies

Download or read book Handbook of LOGISTICS SHIPPING Commercial Terminologies written by Benny John and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2019-04-15 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Logistics, Shipping and Supply Chain Management is an emerging subject of importance in an emerging country like India and similar economies. Since India is at the cusp of being a developed nation and subjects like Logistics are still at the infancy stage, lot of Universities and Institutes in India have started including these subjects at the Bachelors, Masters and diploma levels of Business Administration, Management Science, Commerce and Export & Import related subjects and this book will have, I hope, tremendous interests among the practitioners, young students and the academia not only for the global community but Indian sub-continent and South East Asia specifically. Since now, after more than 30 years of professional life, I am a visiting faculty member of various Universities and Institutes, I felt that there is dearth of proper books in this field, and I felt it as my humble duty to share whatever limited knowledge with the young students who were never exposed to subjects like Shipping, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Export Import Trade and their operational and legal aspects. If this book also assist the faculty members even in a limited way, then my humble efforts are fulfilled. Although there are lot of people worldwide who has guided and helped me during my career in India and abroad, to name them is a huge task. But I can’t forget the help and guidance given to me during my professional life in Germany by Mr. Herbert Poetschke, Hapag Lloyd AG, Hamburg, Mr. Christian Conen, VLA-Vereinigte Linen Agenturen GmbH, Bremen and specially my well wishers in India Mr. K.C. Raman, former Director of Forbes Gokak, and Mr. Shantanu Bhatkamkar, Chairman of the ATC Logistics Group, Mumbai. But it was the persuasion from one of my cousins and a friend, Mr. Sam G. Nilamel of Nilamel Exports, an industrialist in Kerala and Kuwait, who always prompted me to write a book. Though in I have commenced this hilarious exercise of bringing out this comprehensive handbook on Logistics and Shipping couple of years back, it was a tremendous task to write, re-write, revise and edit this volume. After the main script is finalized, it is my daughter Aatira Benn John who helped me in formatting and designing this book in its present form and I am thankful to her. Book Multi objective Management in Freight Logistics

Download or read book Multi objective Management in Freight Logistics written by Massimiliano Caramia and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-08-29 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thecontentofthisbookismotivatedbytherecentchangesinglobalmarketsandthe availability of new transportation services. Indeed, the complexity of current supply chains suggests todecision makers in logisticsto work witha set ofef?cient (Pare- optimal) solutions, mainly to capture different economical aspects that, in general, one optimal solution related to a single objective function is not able to capture - tirely. Motivated by these reasons, we study freight transportation systems with a speci?c focus on multi-objective modelling. The goal is to provide decision m- ers with new methods and tools to implement multi-objective optimization models in logistics. The book combines theoretical aspects with applications, showing the advantages and the drawbacks of adopting scalarization techniques, and when it is worthwhile to reduce the problem to a goal-programming one. Also, we show - plications where more than one decision maker evaluates the effectiveness of the logistic system and thus a multi-level programming is sought to attain meaningful solutions. After presenting the general working framework, we analyze logistic - sues in a maritime terminal. Next, we study multi-objective route planning, relying on the application of hazardous material transportation. Then, we examine freight distribution on a smaller scale, as for the case of goods distribution in metropolitan areas. Finally, we present a human-workforce problem arising in logistic platforms. The general approach followed in the text is that of presenting mathematics, al- rithms and the related experimentations for each problem.

Book Training in Logistics and the Freight Transport Industry

Download or read book Training in Logistics and the Freight Transport Industry written by Alfonso Morvillo and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-01 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title was first published in 2002. In the last few decades, relationships within the transport and logistics industry have become more complex due to the rising importance of information and communication technology, the growth of just-in-time delivery and increasing globalization. Such changes call for new forms of training, both managerial and vocational, for the continued development of the industry. This detailed and enterprising volume focuses on the transnational integrated training FIT Project (Formazione Integrata Transnazionale) set up within the European Programme ADAPT, which brought together academics and professionals to boost transport and logistics in Southern Italy. The project highlights cultural, motivational and training differences among the companies studied and suggests proper strategies for human resource development. Through an original methodology, it advocates an innovative and modular training programme to meet the needs of expertise and flexibility within the sector. The results can be used by the industry in general as best practice operative guidelines.

Book Transport Logistics

Download or read book Transport Logistics written by Issa Baluch and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This expansive, well-researched work could rank as one of the most inclusive, complete books on the esoteric topic of freight logistics and that field's role in shaping modern civilization. The book's wide scope and historic perspective make the topic come alive, enhanced by its architectural, engineering, military and relief effort case studies. The pace slows when author Issa Baluch discusses the transportation infrastructures of Egypt, India and Dubai, in sections that may be too detailed for most readers. Similarly, some of the case studies go into excessive detail about the actual contents of what was shipped for specific efforts, such as the Berlin airlift. However, despite these minor distractions, people in the transportation industry will find this manuscript revealing. Although it may be long and dry at times, getAbstract.com was intrigued by its historic overview of transportation logistics.
