Book excerpt: SPACEBABIES by Judy Boehm Sometimes things are not always what they seem, like babies who drive spaceships. SPACEBABIES is a fun, out-of-this world story for the young at heart. When the babies from space land on Earth, playtime for Henry and Veronica is interrupted. The babies and children become fast-friends. The sharing of thumbs illustrated in the book refers to the Christian belief that the thumb is the most instrumental of the fingers in bestowing blessings. Like the Spacebabies, many have professed an excited, or spiritual feeling when thumbs are touched. You can try this easily yourself, as you read Spacebabies with a friend.

Book A Far Infrared Spectro Spatial Space Interferometer

Download or read book A Far Infrared Spectro Spatial Space Interferometer written by Roser Juanola-Parramon and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-05-21 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis describes the physics and computational aspects of an end-to-end simulator to predict the performance of a Space-based Far Infrared Interferometer. The present thesis also includes, the science capabilities and instrumental state-of-the art. The latter is the ambitious next step which the Far-Infrared Astrophysical community needs to take to improve in anyway on the results of the most recent and current space telescopes in this wavelength region. This thesis outlines the requirements involved in such a mission and describes the most promising technique to capture most of the astrophysical information by combining spectroscopy to spatial interferometer. The simulation of such a system is extremely complex requiring multiple Fourier transforms each of which is subject to instrument non-idealities and appropriate optimization techniques. As a conclusion, the thesis provides an example of the basic performance achievable with such an instrument when targeting a young star formation region.

  • Author : Marie-Pier Boucher
  • Publisher : Bloomsbury Publishing
  • Release : 2024-01-25
  • ISBN : 1350346349
  • Pages : 274 pages

Download or read book Space Feminisms written by Marie-Pier Boucher and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2024-01-25 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Employing a global approach to feminist theory, this book examines how scientific, popular, scholarly, and artistic imaginations of space have, since the 1950s, reflected and embedded Earthly hopes, anxieties, and futures. Rather than simply a platform for imagining the future, it cultivates radical and alternative modes of inquiry around space through seeing space as a material reality that reflexively encodes humans' self-perceptions of their planet and beyond. Bringing together essayistic reflections, artworks, and interviews with space scientists, engineers, and astronauts past and present in one volume, Space Feminisms inspects the transformation of terrestrially held notions of gender, race, class, and ableism as they migrate to the extraterrestrial, whilst drawing new connections between feminist thought and extraterrestrial power structures. Space Feminisms makes a radical enquiry into how earthly power structures are already expanding into our skies, facilitating a collaborative and interdisciplinary platform for scholars, artists, and designers to imagine radical constructions of human futures beyond Earth. At the intersection of scientific, cultural, social, and artistic speculations, the book gathers leading scholars, scientists, artists, and designers to develop innovative tactics and disruptive participations to create generative, alternative, and radical futures of and in space.

Book Baby Soldiers In Space

Download or read book Baby Soldiers In Space written by Rena Marks and published by Rena Marks. This book was released on 2017-10-28 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Space Babies saga has been determined: They're people, not pets. Continue on the journey with Baby Soldiers In Space. Helian Six has it made. Their own planet, lifemates, and kids. Not bad for a species who were born in vats—to emerge full grown with designated careers dependent upon specifically implanted personality traits. What used to be friendly competition has turned into jealousy, and everyone is scrambling to be accepted onto their planet to live the good life. Now, the Helian Six crew, with their updated promotions, can afford to be picky about who goes or stays. However, a personal request from the Supreme Commander has all but ordered acceptance of a new breed of female. The leader, with her steadfast ways, nurturing heart, and fuzzy unibrow, has caught the Ambassador's finicky eye. The poor crew members of Helian Six have been warned to give these refugee females everything they may need. Unfortunately, they can't share with their hormonally moody mates as to why they're giving extra attention to the hairy bunch. * This is book 2 in the Purple People Series. What's gone on before: The crew of Helian Six found a stasis capsule in space with waking inhabitants. There were nineteen tiny purple beings aboard—to match his crew of nineteen warriors. It was a sign they needed to find mates and rear the small ones. It worked out to their advantage that a passing vessel contained nineteen teachers of the species Human and needed kidnapping. Er, rescuing. Those sexy teachers agreed to stay with our humble Freijian warriors. And that is our story to date! Other books in this series: Book 1 - Space Babies Book 2 - Baby Soldiers In Space Book 3 - Baby Butterfly Kisses Book 4 - TiTi Book 5 - Rock-A-Bye Babies in Space
