He's known that it's hopeless ever since she came out to him as a lesbian during their freshman year of college. Lyla likes women, and Tom is definitely not a woman. But when Tom loses both his job and his girlfriend on the same day, Lyla is still the first person he turns to for support. She tells him to drop everything and fly out to see her in New York, confident that some friend time is exactly what he needs to get through his slump. On the plane ride over, Tom confesses his love for Lyla to a mysterious woman, takes a nap, and then wakes up in New York with some very surprising changes! He's been somehow transformed into a jaw-droppingly beautiful woman--a "megahottie," as Lyla would say. Tom has no idea what's going on and texts Lyla in a panic! Fortunately, Lyla is there just like always to help him out. But now that Tom is a woman, their whole dynamic has changed. Sparks fly between the two best friends almost immediately, and Tom realizes that as "Jess," he might finally be able to explore his real feelings for Lyla. In My Very Own Gender Swap, YOU get to make all of these choices and more as you join Chris Scalatore, a young man in his early 20s, on the romantic transformation adventure of a lifetime. When his friend Kayla presents him with a unique opportunity to transform himself into the woman he might have been, Chris gets to spend an entire day as Natalie—the hot, female version of himself. Not only can you pick what Chris looks like as Natalie, but you also get to decide what she does: Do you go to the lingerie store or stay home to play with Kayla? Will you spend your evening chatting up the cute, artsy lesbian in the corner, or yield yourself to the brash, aggressive billionaire who wants to own and control you? With over 300 pages of possibilities and sixteen completely unique endings, the choices you make on this fateful day will affect Chris in very real ways that will stick with him for the rest of his life. Can Chris learn to find true happiness during his day as a woman, or will he end up even worse off than he would have been otherwise? Only you can decide! Unlike traditional books, this is a branching narrative story that can be read multiple times with different events throughout. At the end of each section there are several hyperlinks indicating choices you can make for Chris, almost like a game. You can tap your e-reader/tablet or click the link in your browser (depending on where you’re reading this) to make the selection you want, and you’ll be transported to that section to continue the story. While it’s possible to use your back buttons to go back a step, you’ll probably have the most fun if you treat the decisions as permanent until your next read-through, just like Chris would have to do!

But lately Chad’s perfect setup doesn’t feel so perfect to him anymore. Isn’t there more to life than this? Something is missing, and he can’t put his finger on what it is. Book The New Hacker s Dictionary third edition

Download or read book The New Hacker s Dictionary third edition written by Eric S. Raymond and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1996-10-11 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This new edition of the hacker's own phenomenally successful lexicon includes more than 100 new entries and updates or revises 200 more. This new edition of the hacker's own phenomenally successful lexicon includes more than 100 new entries and updates or revises 200 more. Historically and etymologically richer than its predecessor, it supplies additional background on existing entries and clarifies the murky origins of several important jargon terms (overturning a few long-standing folk etymologies) while still retaining its high giggle value. Sample definition hacker n. [originally, someone who makes furniture with an axe] 1. A person who enjoys exploring the details of programmable systems and how to stretch their capabilities, as opposed to most users, who prefer to learn only the minimum necessary. 2. One who programs enthusiastically (even obsessively) or who enjoys programming rather than just theorizing about programming. 3. A person capable of appreciating {hack value}. 4. A person who is good at programming quickly. 5. An expert at a particular program, or one who frequently does work using it or on it; as in `a UNIX hacker'. (Definitions 1 through 5 are correlated, and people who fit them congregate.) 6. An expert or enthusiast of any kind. One might be an astronomy hacker, for example. 7. One who enjoys the intellectual challenge of creatively overcoming or circumventing limitations. 8. [deprecated] A malicious meddler who tries to discover sensitive information by poking around. Hence `password hacker', `network hacker'. The correct term is {cracker}. The term 'hacker' also tends to connote membership in the global community defined by the net (see {network, the} and {Internet address}). It also implies that the person described is seen to subscribe to some version of the hacker ethic (see {hacker ethic, the}). It is better to be described as a hacker by others than to describe oneself that way. Hackers consider themselves something of an elite (a meritocracy based on ability), though one to which new members are gladly welcome. There is thus a certain ego satisfaction to be had in identifying yourself as a hacker (but if you claim to be one and are not, you'll quickly be labeled {bogus}). See also {wannabee}.

Book Migrant Writers and Urban Space in Italy

Download or read book Migrant Writers and Urban Space in Italy written by Graziella Parati and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about migrants’ lives in urban space, in particular Rome and Milan. At the core of the book is literature as written by migrants, members of a “second generation,” and a filmmaker who defines himself as native. It argues that the narrative authored by migrants, refugees, second generation women, and one “native Italian” perform a reparative reading of Italian spaces in order to engender reparative narratives. Eve Sedgwick wrote about our (now) traditional way of reading based on unveiling and on, mainly, negative affect. We are trained to tear the text apart, dig into it, and uncover the anxieties that define our age. Migrants writers seem to employ both positive and negative affects in defining the past, present, and future of the spaces they inhabit. Their recuperative acts of writing, constitute powerful models of changes in/on place. As they look at Italian exclusionary spaces, they also rewrite them into a present whose transitiveness allows to imagine a process of citizenship and belong constructed from below.
