Book Biomechanics of Human Motion

Download or read book Biomechanics of Human Motion written by Barney LeVeau and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-06-01 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biomechanics of Human Motion: Basics and Beyond for the Health Professions presents a straightforward approach to the basic principles, theories and applications of biomechanics and provides numerous techniques and examples for approaching biomechanical situations enhanced by healthcare professionals. Building on his previous work, Dr. Barney LeVeau uses clearly defined, concise terms and real-life applications rather than advanced mathematics to make teaching and learning biomechanics easier. Based upon the concept of force, the text illustrates how force is applied to the human body and how the body applies force to various objects. The emphasis is upon the pertinent factors that guide the reader to an understanding of biomechanics at a beginning level. Chapter Topics Include: • Strength of material such as loading and stress-strain relationships • Composition and Resolution of Forces such as graphic method and mathematical method • Equilibrium such as static, first condition and second condition • Dynamics such as kinematics and kinetics • Application such as stability and balance, motion analysis, and gait What’s Inside: • Simple explanations of biological & mechanical concepts • Contemporary articles at the end of each chapter providing readers with information beyond the basics • Over 240 images illustrate biomechanical situations and computations • User-friendly, uncomplicated mathematical formulas and examples Biomechanics of Human Motion: Basics and Beyond for the Health Professions provides students and clinicians of all allied health professions with a basic background and solid foundation on which to build a solid understanding of force and biomechanics.

Book Work Space Equipment and Tool Design

Download or read book Work Space Equipment and Tool Design written by A. Mital and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the ergonomic aspect of many problems facing the industry today attracts more attention from the management, providing scientific knowledge and the know-how to solve such problems is becoming increasingly more important. The impetus for this book originated from the pressing need to make the state-of-the-art ergonomic information on workspace, equipment and tool design available to practising ergonomists, safety specialists, engineering designers, and business and technical managers. The book reinforces the notion that ergonomic data should be explicitly integrated in the design of a system, and should become an indispensable part of the overall design process in production engineering, on an equal basis with such activities as mechanical component design, quality assurance, maintenance, inspection, etc. The focus is on selected ergonomic data for workspace, equipment and tool design, with special emphasis on the practical aspects of applying the available information to specific problem areas.

Book Anthropometric Survey of the Royal Thai Armed Forces

Download or read book Anthropometric Survey of the Royal Thai Armed Forces written by Robert Manson White and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "An anthropometric survey of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Thailand was conducted between October 1962 and March 1963. Body measurements were obtained on a total series of 2,950 men, consisting of 2,010 of the Royal Thai Army, 610 of the Royal Thai Marine Corps, and 330 of the Royal Thai Air Force. Fifty-two measurements were made on each individual. The anthropometric data have been analyzed and are presented. The average height and weight of Thai military personnel were equivalent to the 5th percentile values of height and weight for United States soldiers. The Thai soldier is about four inches shorter in stature and 30 pounds lighter in weight than the average United States soldier. The results of the survey, which provide information on the body size of Thai military personnel, may be utilized in the engineering design and sizing of clothing and equipment intended for use by the Royal Thai Armed Forces."--Summary.

Book Applied Ergonomics Handbook

Download or read book Applied Ergonomics Handbook written by Sam Stuart and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-23 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applied Ergonomics Handbook focuses on the applications of applied ergonomics, including workstation analysis, comfort in the industry, and layout of machines and panels. The book first tackles the industrial use of ergonomics, general framework and workstation analysis, and displays. Discussions focus on types of display, approach of ergonomics, workstation analysis, checklist caveat, ergonomics and industry, applying ergonomics, and ergonomics in the firm. The book then elaborates on controls, layout of panels and machines, layout of work spaces, and seating in industry. The manuscript takes a look at thermal comfort in industry, noise in industry, lighting of work places, inspection and human efficiency, and ergonomics versus accidents. Topics include environmental stress, perceptual and physical limitations, lighting and performance, fatigue and efficiency, design of inspection tasks, principles of good lighting, sound and its measurement, annoying effects of noise, effects on the ear and work, body temperature regulation, and coping with extremes of temperature. The publication is a valuable source of data for researchers interested in the applications of ergonomics.
