Book Principles of Electron Optics

Download or read book Principles of Electron Optics written by Peter W. Hawkes and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 755 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The three volumes in the PRINCIPLES OF ELECTRON OPTICS Series constitute the first comprehensive treatment of electron optics in over forty years. While Volumes 1 and 2 are devoted to geometrical optics, Volume 3 is concerned with wave optics and effects due to wave length. Subjects covered include: Derivation of the laws of electron propagation from SchrUdinger's equation Image formation and the notion of resolution The interaction between specimens and electrons Image processing Electron holography and interference Coherence, brightness, and the spectral function Together, these works comprise a unique and informative treatment of the subject. Volume 3, like its predecessors, will provide readers with both a textbook and an invaluable reference source.

Book Cyclostationary Processes and Time Series

Download or read book Cyclostationary Processes and Time Series written by Antonio Napolitano and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2019-10-24 with total page 626 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many processes in nature arise from the interaction of periodic phenomena with random phenomena. The results are processes that are not periodic, but whose statistical functions are periodic functions of time. These processes are called cyclostationary and are an appropriate mathematical model for signals encountered in many fields including communications, radar, sonar, telemetry, acoustics, mechanics, econometrics, astronomy, and biology. Cyclostationary Processes and Time Series: Theory, Applications, and Generalizations addresses these issues and includes the following key features. Presents the foundations and developments of the second- and higher-order theory of cyclostationary signals Performs signal analysis using both the classical stochastic process approach and the functional approach for time series Provides applications in signal detection and estimation, filtering, parameter estimation, source location, modulation format classification, and biological signal characterization Includes algorithms for cyclic spectral analysis along with Matlab/Octave code Provides generalizations of the classical cyclostationary model in order to account for relative motion between transmitter and receiver and describe irregular statistical cyclicity in the data

Book Ring Interferometry

    Book Details:
  • Author : Grigorii B. Malykin
  • Publisher : Walter de Gruyter
  • Release : 2013-08-28
  • ISBN : 3110277921
  • Pages : 320 pages

Download or read book Ring Interferometry written by Grigorii B. Malykin and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2013-08-28 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph is devoted to the creation of a comprehensive formalism for quantitative description of polarized modes’ linear interaction in modern single-mode optic fibers. The theory of random connections between polarized modes, developed in the monograph, allows calculations of the zero shift deviations for a fiber ring interferometer. The monograph addresses also the Sagnac effect and the Thomas precession. Devices such as gyroscopes, used in navigation and flight control, work based on this technology. Given the ever increasing market for navigation and air traffic, researchers and practitioners in research and industry need a fundamental and sound understanding of the principles. This work presents the underlying physical foundations.

Book Surface Flute Waves in Plasmas

Download or read book Surface Flute Waves in Plasmas written by Igor Girka and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-04-26 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a comprehensive theoretical study of the electromagnetic eigenwaves propagating perpendicular to the axis of symmetry in various cylindrical waveguide-structures filled with magneto-active plasma. It is the second, updated and significantly expanded edition of our book “Surface Flute Waves in Plasmas. Theory and Applications”, published in 2014 in the “Springer Series on Atomic, Optical, and Plasma Physics”. First, the text is complemented by a study of the wave energy rotation around the axis of the waveguides. Second, excitation of these waves by an electron beam gyrating around the axis is investigated in detail. “Surface waves” means that these waves only propagate along plasma surfaces and not in uniform infinite plasmas. Their wave amplitudes decrease with going away from the plasma boundary into the plasma depth. “Flute” means that the axial wavenumbers kz of the waves in plasma cylinders are assumed to be zero, and the waves only propagate in azimuthal direction. In this case, the surfaces of constant density resemble fluted Greek columns. However, the presence of a small but finite kz can be taken into account by the method of successive approximations, using the theory of surface flute waves as zeroth approach. A variety of present applications of surface waves and possible future applications are also included. The book applies to both professionals dealing with physical and technological problems of confined plasmas and to graduate and post-graduate students specializing in the fíelds of electrodynamics, plasma physics and related applications.
