Book Sovereignty Grace and Glory

Download or read book Sovereignty Grace and Glory written by Bob Lenz and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2015-03-05 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study of the character of three aspects of God is presented to assist the lay church person to understand and to be awed at the manner in which God deals with His creation. The book is also written to aid an unbeliever in understanding God's purpose for his life. The three aspects are the sovereignty of God, the mystery and beauty of His character; the grace of God, His modus operandi in dealing with His world; and the glory of God, His magnificence and ultimate purpose for His creation. Although sounding very technical, this book is for the scholarly as well as the everyday believer who desires to study the Word of God in depth. If we can comprehend the depth of meaning behind the fact that God is in control- his sovereignty, that he deals with us in constant grace, and sets before us a great and eternal destiny-glory, we'll be able to persevere and thrive joyfully, no matter what happens to us. Bob Lenz understands and communicates this. You'll be blessed and helped by reading the book. Bob has been in ministry for over fifty years. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the following pages an attempt has been made to examine anew in the light of God's Word some of the profoundest questions which can engage the human mind. Oth¬ers have grappled with these mighty problems in days gone by and from their labors we are the gainers. While mak¬ing no claim for originality the writer, nevertheless, has endeavored to examine and deal with his subject from an entirely independent viewpoint. We have studied diligently the writings of such men as Augustine and Acquinas, Calvin and Melancthon, Jonathan Edwards and Ralph Erskine, Andrew Fuller and Robert Haldane.* And sad it is to think that these eminent and honored names are almost entirely unknown to the present generation. Though, of course, we do not endorse all their conclusions, yet we gladly acknowledge our deep indebtedness to their works. We have purposely refrained from quoting freely from these deeply taught theologians, because we desired that the faith of our readers should stand not in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. For this reason we have quoted freely from the Scriptures and have sought to furnish proof texts for every statement we have advanced. Arthur Walkington Pink was an English Christian evangelist and Biblical scholar known for his staunchly Calvinist and Puritan-like teachings. Though born to Christian parents, prior to conversion he migrated into a Theosophical society (an occult gnostic group popular in England during that time), and quickly rose in prominence within their ranks. His conversion came from his father's patient admonitions from Scripture. It was the verse, Proverbs 14:12, 'there is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death,' which particularly struck his heart and compelled him to renounce Theosophy and follow Jesus.

Far from cold, lifeless doctrine, the revelation of God's sovereign mercy stirs heart and mind, and comforts the soul. Writes Richard Phillips in this engaging exposition of Ephesians 1, "There is no debate raging within the Godhead concerning our place in salvation, no tension; there are no awkward silences or heated conversations. Rather there is a grand and cohesive conspiracy of love originating in the eternal and sovereign grace of the Father." Book jacket.

Book Suffering and the Sovereignty of God

Download or read book Suffering and the Sovereignty of God written by John Piper and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2006-09-13 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last few years, 9/11, a tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, and many other tragedies have shown us that the vision of God in today's churches in relation to evil and suffering is often frivolous. Against the overwhelming weight and seriousness of the Bible, many Christians are choosing to become more shallow, more entertainment-oriented, and therefore irrelevant in the face of massive suffering. In Suffering and the Sovereignty of God, contributors John Piper, Joni Eareckson Tada, Steve Saint, Carl Ellis, David Powlison, Dustin Shramek, and Mark Talbot explore the many categories of God's sovereignty as evidenced in his Word. They urge readers to look to Christ, even in suffering, to find the greatest confidence, deepest comfort, and sweetest fellowship they have ever known.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Sovereign Grace" is a term often used in Christian theology to describe the concept of God's unmerited favor and saving power extended to humanity. It emphasizes that salvation is entirely the work of God, not dependent on human effort or merit. Dwight Lyman Moody, a prominent American evangelist and preacher in the 19th century, likely discussed this theological concept in his sermons and writings, emphasizing the central role of God's grace in the Christian faith. While there may not be a specific work titled "Sovereign Grace" by Moody, his teachings and sermons often touched on this fundamental aspect of Christian belief.

Book The Sovereignty of God

Download or read book The Sovereignty of God written by Arthur Pink and published by DigiCat. This book was released on 2022-05-17 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sovereignty of God is a religion classic by English Bible teacher Arthur Pink who articulates and relates the Biblical truths of God's absolute Sovereignty with the main goal to exalt God solely from the pages of Scripture. Pink attempts to draw closer the tension between the sovereignty of God and the responsibility of man, an eternal question that remains debated even though it's seemingly plainly taught in the Scripture. The author's focus is on the divine side of the issue, defining God's sovereignty and presenting the different spheres that it works and operates. Further on he turns to the tension between the sovereignty of God and human will and responsibility.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nearly 200,000 copies sold! Chosen by God by Dr. R. C. Sproul is a contemporary classic on predestination, a doctrine that isn’t just for Calvinists. It is a doctrine for all biblical Christians. In this updated and expanded edition of Chosen by God, Sproul shows that the doctrine of predestination doesn’t create a whimsical or spiteful picture of God, but rather paints a portrait of a loving God who provides redemption for radically corrupt humans. We choose God because he has opened our eyes to see his beauty; we love him because he first loved us. There is mystery in God’s ways, but not contradiction.
