Book excerpt: For as long as he can remember, Blake K. Healy has seen angels and demons. He sees them as clearly as he would see you if you were standing right in front of him. He sees angels dancing in worship services and whispering words of encouragement in people’s ears. He also sees demons latching on to people and perpetuating addiction and bitterness in their hearts. The Veil chronicles how Blake matured in this gifting, while overcoming the fear and confusion of what he saw, how he learned to use his gift of seeing for God’s glory, and how to teach others to do the same. This new and updated version of The Veil also includes a brief guide on how to begin growing in the gift of seeing in the spirit yourself, as well as an appendix of scriptural references to the spirit realm and angels, along with Blake’s commentary on these passages.

Book Tu fah Yi Abb s

    Book Details:
  • Author : Muḥammad ʻAlī Sabzvārī
  • Publisher : University Press of America
  • Release : 2008
  • ISBN : 9780761838012
  • Pages : 342 pages

Download or read book Tu fah Yi Abb s written by Muḥammad ʻAlī Sabzvārī and published by University Press of America. This book was released on 2008 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is one of the oldest and most important sources written on the esoteric teachings of Islam from a Shi'ite perspective. It demonstrates the Qur'anic origins of Sufism and its close relationship with Shi'ism. The book is based mainly on the teachings of the Qur'an, Hadith narrations of Shi'ite Imams, and the teachings of earlier Sufi masters. In this lies the uniqueness, authenticity, and strength of the book. Tuhfah yi-' Abbasi is written in a typical prose style of the Safavid period and is replete with Arabic words and phrases. The difficulty and dryness of the style, however, is properly compensated by timely quotation of Prophetic traditions, narrations of the Shi'ite Imams, and Sufi poetry composed by 'Attar, Rumi, Hafiz, Mansur Hallaj, as well as the author. This work conveys a universal message for all human beings, particularly at a time when Sufism and Shi'ism are misrepresented by pseudo-Sufis and extremist Shi'ite, and misunderstood by many readers in the Muslim world and in the West.

Book The Veiled Sayings

    Book Details:
  • Author : Elizabeth Elder
  • Publisher : Page Publishing Inc
  • Release : 2020-05-01
  • ISBN : 1647011205
  • Pages : 83 pages

Download or read book The Veiled Sayings written by Elizabeth Elder and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2020-05-01 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Elizabeth Elder's reflections on the veiled sayings of Jesus in the Gospel of Thomas reveal an experience of the divine that is both intimate and near, rather than distant and authoritative. Her reading of Thomas leads the reader to a Jesus who does not speak to you, but within you and from you, as you meditate on these simultaneously exotic and familiar sayings. Elder discloses an ancient practice of meditative reading that suggests that the Gospel is not about Jesus, but about you, the reader—that Jesus' words are also your words. This is the archetypal Jesus that speaks you and lives you. This is a reading in line with the meditative reading praxis that the anonymous author of the Gospel of Thomas would appreciate. As Elder demonstrates with great verve and intuition, this is a text not to be "studied," but cultivated and contemplated. Her marvelous book is an invitation to this practice. – Justin Lasser, M.Phil., Ph.D., Associate professor of religious studies, Manchester University, North Manchester, Indiana.

Download or read book THE RENT VEIL written by Horatius Bonar and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-12-02 with total page 103 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There was no veil in Paradise between man and God. There were three places or regions; the outer earth, Eden, and "the Garden of Eden," or Paradise; but there was no veil nor fence between, hindering access from the one to the other. There was nothing to prevent man from going in to speak with God, or God from coming out to speak with man. It was not till after man had disobeyed that the veil was let down which separated God from man, which made a distinction between the dwellings of man and the habitation of God. Before God had spoken or done aught in the way of separation, man betrayed his consciousness of his new standing, and of the necessity for a covering or screen. He fled from God into the thick trees of the garden, that their foliage might hide him from God and God from him. In so doing he showed that he felt two things, -First, that there must be a veil between him and God; Second, that now, in his altered position, distance from God (if such a thing could be) was his safety.
