Book A Metamorphosis of the Soul

Download or read book A Metamorphosis of the Soul written by C J Brown and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In the spirit, I felt my great-grandma Thalia's presence that night. I had received an opportunity to visit a chapter in my family's past and to take my son with me. My parents always taught me that you must know your history to understand where you're going (or possibly where you don't want to go back to). On this occasion, I was able to help him see the relevance of his past to the present, and to look beyond the present to the unlimited potential of the future. My soul was lifted, and I had a divine assurance that the legacy of documenting, preserving, and telling our family's history would not be lost to the winds of time. That evening, one of our children paused to look back with me and to set his compass for a good course into the future." "With an amazing level of transparency, C. J. Brown provides a well-written book that allows us to witness her personal triumph over tragedy. A Metamorphosis of the Soul invites readers to examine their own faith journey as the author displays the power of God in her spiritual journey." -Rev. Dr. Clarence H. Burke, pastor Beacon Light Missionary Baptist Church Durham, North Carolina

Book Metamorphosis

Download or read book Metamorphosis written by Frank Dupree and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2013-07-13 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a story of self discovery and self improvement. A story about what can happen when a person realizes how valuable his/her life is. This is a story about change. The central character recognizes his need for change and the struggles that accompany change. In a moment he sees clearly how the pain of change is actually less than the pain of not changing. My hope is that the reader will identify with the central character and have enough courage to initiate the changes that are necessary to come to full realization.

Book Metamorphosis

Download or read book Metamorphosis written by David Gallagher and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2009 with total page 471 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The origins of selected instances of metamorphosis in Germanic literature are traced from their roots in Ovid's Metamorphoses, grouped roughly on an 'ascending evolutionary scale' (invertebrates, birds, animals, and mermaids). Whilst a broad range of mythological, legendary, fairytale and folktale traditions have played an appreciable part, Ovid's Metamorphoses is still an important comparative analysis and reference point for nineteenth- and twentieth-century German-language narratives of transformations. Metamorphosis is most often used as an index of crisis: an existential crisis of the subject or a crisis in a society's moral, social or cultural values. Specifically selected texts for analysis include Jeremias Gotthelf's Die schwarze Spinne (1842) with the terrifying metamorphoses of Christine into a black spider, the metamorphosis of Gregor Samsa in Kafka's Die Verwandlung (1915), ambiguous metamorphoses in E. T. A. Hoffmann's Der goldne Topf (1814), Hermann Hesse's Piktors Verwandlungen (1925), Der Steppenwolf (1927) and Christoph Ransmayr's Die letzte Welt (1988). Other mythical metamorphoses are examined in texts by Bachmann, Fouqué, Fontane, Goethe, Nietzsche, Nelly Sachs, Thomas Mann and Wagner, and these and many others confirm that metamorphosis is used historically, scientifically, for religious purposes; to highlight identity, sexuality, a dream state, or for metaphoric, metonymic or allegorical reasons.

Book Cosmic and Human Metamorphosis

Download or read book Cosmic and Human Metamorphosis written by Rudolf Steiner and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 2012-03-15 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 7 lectures in Berlin, February 6, 1917 - March 20, 1917 (CW 175) "Now you see that as microcosms we are actually part of and subject to the same laws as are cosmic beings, just as the breath we draw is subject to our own human nature.... If our hearts are sensitive to the secrets of cosmic existence and not merely blocks of wood, the words we have placed into the universe will no longer be an abstract statement. We will be fully alive to this fact. Knowledge and a feeling will spring up within us, the fruits of which will be born in our will impulses, and our whole being will live in unison with the great life, divine cosmic existence." --Rudolf Steiner In this important series of lectures, Rudolf Steiner lays out for Society members right and wrong ways of establishing connections with those who have died. Rather than following the materialistic desire to draw those who have died back into the physical realm, Steiner presents a means toward true spiritual union by strengthening one's forces of consciousness. He also shows how help is provided from the sphere of Christ's activity as a balance for our time. Steiner states: "Those who comprehend the deeper purpose of our spiritual science realize that it not only gives theoretical knowledge about the various problems of humanity, the principles of human nature, reincarnation and karma, but also that it contains a quite special language, that it has a particular way of expressing itself about spiritual matters. The fact that through spiritual science we learn to inwardly converse with the spiritual world in thought is much more important than the merely acquiring theoretical thoughts. Christ is with us always, even to the end of the earthly epochs, and we must learn his language." This book is a translation of 7 of 17 lectures from Bausteine zu einer Erkenntnis des Mysteriums von Golgatha. Kosmische und menschliche Metamorphose (GA 175).

Book Metamorphoses of the Werewolf

Download or read book Metamorphoses of the Werewolf written by Leslie A. Sconduto and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2014-01-10 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mythical werewolf is known for its sudden transformation under the full moon, but the creature also underwent a narrative evolution through the centuries, from bloodthirsty creature to hero. Beginning with The Epic of Gilgamesh, Ovid's Metamorphoses, and an account in Petronius' Satyricon, the book analyzes the context that created the traditional image of the werewolf as a savage beast. The Catholic Church's response to the popular belief in werewolves and medieval literature's sympathetic depiction of the werewolf as victim are presented to support the idea of the werewolf as a complex and varied cultural symbol. Book Art and Spiritual Transformation

Download or read book Art and Spiritual Transformation written by Finley Eversole and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2009-05-26 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primal role of art in awakening and liberating the soul of humanity • Presents a seven-stage journey of transformation moving from the darkened soul to the light of spiritual illumination • Provides a meditation practice to experience the spiritual energy embedded within art • Includes artists Alex Grey, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Walter Gaudnek, and others Art and Spiritual Transformation presents a seven-stage journey from the darkened soul to the light of spiritual illumination that is possible through the world of art. Finley Eversole introduces a meditation practice that moves beyond the visual content of an art form in order to connect with its embedded spiritual energy, allowing the viewer to tap in to the deeper consciousness inherent in the artwork and awaken dormant powers in the depths of the viewer’s soul. Examining modern and postmodern artwork from 1945 onward, Eversole reveals the influences of ancient Egypt, India, China, and alchemy on this art. He draws extensively on philosophy, myth and symbolism, literature, and metaphysics to explain the seven stages of spiritual death and rebirth of the soul possible through art: the experience of self-loss, the journey into the underworld, the experience of the dark night of the soul, the conflict with and triumph over evil, the awakening of new life in the depths of being, and the return and reintegration of consciousness on a higher plane of being, resulting finally in ecstasy, transfiguration, illumination, and liberation. To illustrate these stages, Eversole includes works by abstract expressionists Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, and Mark Rothko and modern visionary artists Alex Grey and Ernst Fuchs, among others, to reveal the powerful and liberating forces art contributes to the transformation and evolution of human consciousness.
