  • Pages : 368 pages

Download or read book Giants written by Douglas Van Dorn and published by . This book was released on 2013-06-08 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Goliath. You know the story. But why is it in the Bible? Is it just to give us a little moral pick-me-up as we seek to emulate a small shepherd boy who defeated a giant? Have you ever wondered where Goliath came from? Did you know he had brothers, one with 24 fingers and toes? Did you know their ancestry is steeped in unimaginable horror? Genesis 6. The nephilim. The first few verses of this chapter have long been the speculation of supernatural events that produced demigods and a flood that God used to destroy the whole world. The whole world remembers them. Once upon a time, all Christians knew them. But for many centuries this view was mocked, though it was the only known view at the time of the writing of the New Testament. Today, it is making a resurgence among Bible-believing scholars, and for good reason. The nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward... This book delves deep into the dark and ancient recesses of our past to bring you rich treasures long buried. It is a carefully researched, heavily footnoted, and selectively illustrated story of the giants of the Bible. There is more here than meets the eye, much more. Here you will learn the invisible, supernatural storyline of the Bible that is always just beneath the surface, lurking like the spawn of the ancient leviathan. It is a storyline no person can afford to ignore any longer. Unlike other more sensational books on the topic, there is no undue speculation to be found here. The author is a Bible-believing Christian who refuses to use such ideas to tell you the end of the world is drawing nigh. Once you discover the truth about these fantastic creatures, you will come to see the ministry and work of Jesus Christ in a very new and exalting light. Come. Learn the fascinating, sobering, yet true story of real giants who played a significant role in the bible ... and still do so today.

  • ISBN : 9781574671124
  • Pages : 204 pages

Download or read book People and Pianos written by Theodore E. Steinway and published by Hal Leonard Corporation. This book was released on 2005 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: (Amadeus). This is the story of how the Steinway piano came to be the instrument of choice for the world's greatest pianists. In 1953, Theodore Steinway wrote this narrative in longhand on yellow legal pads as a tribute to his father and to commemorate the first 100 years of Steinway & Sons. The book was a memento for employees and was never released to the public. This revised edition brings the history of this remarkable company to the present day through recollections of Henry E. Steinway, the last family member to remain involved with the company, and Peter Goodrich, vice president of concert and artist relations, who has been with the company for 30 years. In 1850, Henry Engelhard Steinway left Germany for New York City and established what was to become the standard of excellence in the piano world. Using photographs and anecdotes, this book chronicles the business from its beginnings through the Depression, when many piano manufacturers went out of business, through World War II, when the company was forbidden to make pianos, and through the advent of modern technology. Through it all the Steinway piano has prevailed as a symbol of quality. The Steinway artist roster is a living tribute to the company and its pianos. More than 1300 performers have publicly endorsed the Steinway because they believe in the quality of the instrument and will only play and perform on a Steinway.

The two boys are unable to deal with their struggle in private as the story of their public kiss spreads through the small town. Download or read book Sons of the Sierra written by Patrick J. McNamara and published by UNC Press Books. This book was released on 2012-09-01 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The period following Mexico's war with the United States in 1847 was characterized by violent conflicts, as liberal and conservative factions battled for control of the national government. The civil strife was particularly bloody in south central Mexico, including the southern state of Oaxaca. In Sons of the Sierra, Patrick McNamara explores events in the Oaxaca district of Ixtlan, where Zapotec Indians supported the liberal cause and sought to exercise influence over statewide and national politics. Two Mexican presidents had direct ties to Ixtlan district: Benito Juarez, who served as Mexico's liberal president from 1858 to 1872, was born in the district, and Porfirio Diaz, president from 1876 to 1911, had led a National Guard battalion made up of Zapotec soldiers throughout the years of civil war. Paying close attention to the Zapotec people as they achieved greater influence, McNamara examines the political culture of Diaz's presidency and explores how Diaz, who became increasingly dictatorial over the course of his time in office, managed to stay in power for thirty-five years. McNamara reveals the weight of memory and storytelling as Ixtlan veterans and their families reminded government officials of their ties to both Juarez and Diaz. While Juarez remained a hero in their minds, Diaz came to represent the arrogance of Mexico City and the illegitimacy of the "Porfiriato" that ended with the 1910 revolution.

Book The Secret Love of Sons

Download or read book The Secret Love of Sons written by Nicholas Weinstock and published by Riverhead Books (Hardcover). This book was released on 1997 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With humor and intelligence, and with the help of hundreds of confidential interviews, Weinstock has discovered the startling place that mothers hold in the heads and hearts of growing men. By offering his own memories and reflections as well as the personal disclosures of other sons, he not only explains the mindsets that drive boys from the nest and keep them insistently independent from their moms, but also illuminates the many ways in which mothers have deeply and continuously affected their sons' lives. What emerges in this profound book is a love letter to mothers, and a smart and surprising blueprint to the emotions of sons of all ages and backgrounds. Men vividly recall their maternally crafted childhoods and reflect gratefully on the solid support and high expectations of these women who knew them even before they knew themselves. But sooner or later every growing boy gets the message that he is obligated to become a man, to leave the "secret garden" he shared with his mother and assert himself in a world that frowns on mama's boys. How sons seek to distinguish themselves, how they act on and shelve their deeper feelings, and how their mothers' contributions are incorporated into their developing lives are the revelations contained in The Secret Love of Sons - wisdom that both mothers and sons have gone without for far too long.

Book Israelology The Birthright House of Israel Kingdom and Sons of God

Download or read book Israelology The Birthright House of Israel Kingdom and Sons of God written by Paul H. Andree, III and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2008-04 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Houses of Israel and Judah dominate the scriptures from the time of King David until they both were sent into captivity. Each House had a destiny to fulfill. These destinies are being worked out today. What drives the destiny of these Houses? The Birthright is a term that many in the Church are aware of but without an understanding of its presence throughout the scriptures. It is manifested as the Dominion Mandate and the Fruitfulness Mandate through the Houses of Israel and Judah. What are the implications for the coming Kingdom of God and the Sons of God? We cannot know or comprehend this answer unless we understand the many foundational scriptures and concepts that establish God's Heart and Plan for the 'last days'. This study will challenge each person to be 'teachable' and open to another perspective of God's Plan for Redemption. God will reveal His Plan for you and your place in His Coming Kingdom. God is maturing His Believers to 'rule and reign' with Him.
