Elevate your thoughts for they can take you to places you only dream of. The confidence you gain with each page will provide the ultimate gift of believing in yourself. Each page of Something to Think About provided a different life lesson of love, growth, and grace, and it blew me away. Mendicinos words of wisdom need to be heard by every single soul, young and old. Airaby Vaeda Mann, Miss Mississippi Teen USA 2014; model; student A lovely read. This book presents a light set of daily reminders to keep the women of our youth genuine, strong, inspired, and grounded as they face the unfamiliar and unanticipated challenges of growing up. I especially loved the inclusion of famous quotes from female influencers that inspired each piece; they were a wonderful representation of how women have shaped the world we live in today, and continue to thrive in it. Book excerpt: Something to Think About: Random Thoughts on the Christian Faith is a collection of some of the many unpublished essays that Thomas Mockoviak has written over a period of twenty-one years. They are each written about everyday situations that we may encounter at some time in our lives, and provide us with some scriptural references that may be of help. Some of the essays are humorous and some more serious, but they all have one basic theme in mind: we can find God’s presence in our everyday lives if we will just take the time to look for Him.

Download or read book Something to Think About written by Ken Myers and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-02-13 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acts 17:11 tells us that the Christians in the church at Berea willingly received the Word of God and daily searched the scriptures in order to determine the accuracy of the things taught to them. Similarly, Something to Think About: Things Not Taught in School looks to the scriptures in order to determine the accuracy of the teachings presently presented to our generation. This book is a series of Bible studies that look into the foundation of the Christian faith. Based on scriptural references, it looks at not only what Christians believe but why they believe as they do. Each study is written for a new believer, but the subject matter is of great value also to an older believer who is looking into the elements of his or her faith. Most of the studies presented begin as a word study on one of the basic building blocks of our Christian faith. A quick look into the book reveals that the author relies heavily on the scriptures to make a point. This methodology is used for two reasons: (1) the author believes that the truth resides not in his words but in God's word, and (2) he firmly believes that the word of God can and does explain itself when properly presented with other supportive scriptures. This book will cause you to reflect on the things that you have been taught. In fact, many of the teachings presented in the book came from questions asked by fellow believers during Bible studies conducted by the author. The intent of this work is not to question your faith but to establish and ground your faith in the scriptural proofs found in the Bible.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently I challenged myself to learn how to type. Being the meager soul that I am I didn't want to spend any money on lessons or classes so after being shown what were the 'home keys' I began. In the past, I learned some important guidance from Christian educators that have always stuck with me. Use the Bible, both scriptures and stories as text while learning. So I typed things such as Sunday School lessons (boy did the guys in the adult men's class have a ball with all the typographical errors). But soon I learned about spell check and the fun left and they had to pay attention to the lessons. After a while, I wasn't satisfied with only typing out things I was reading, but began typing out the thoughts I was thinking. Early in the morning, late at night, or even in the daytime I would sit down and type whatever came to mind. Never was there any intention for the thoughts to go any further than on the paper sitting on my desk until I started giving them to my pastor, Brother Ahart. The Lord was using my learning experience to not only give me something to do but also something to think about. The more I typed, the more I thought, and the more I gave to Brother Ahart, the more he encouraged me to think about it. My only prayer is for the people who read these printed thoughts to think about what they are saying. I believe there are several lessons to be learned if they were to be read after prayer.

Download or read book The First 20 Hours written by Josh Kaufman and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2013-06-13 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forget the 10,000 hour rule— what if it’s possible to learn the basics of any new skill in 20 hours or less? Take a moment to consider how many things you want to learn to do. What’s on your list? What’s holding you back from getting started? Are you worried about the time and effort it takes to acquire new skills—time you don’t have and effort you can’t spare? Research suggests it takes 10,000 hours to develop a new skill. In this nonstop world when will you ever find that much time and energy? To make matters worse, the early hours of practicing something new are always the most frustrating. That’s why it’s difficult to learn how to speak a new language, play an instrument, hit a golf ball, or shoot great photos. It’s so much easier to watch TV or surf the web . . . In The First 20 Hours, Josh Kaufman offers a systematic approach to rapid skill acquisition— how to learn any new skill as quickly as possible. His method shows you how to deconstruct complex skills, maximize productive practice, and remove common learning barriers. By completing just 20 hours of focused, deliberate practice you’ll go from knowing absolutely nothing to performing noticeably well. Kaufman personally field-tested the methods in this book. You’ll have a front row seat as he develops a personal yoga practice, writes his own web-based computer programs, teaches himself to touch type on a nonstandard keyboard, explores the oldest and most complex board game in history, picks up the ukulele, and learns how to windsurf. Here are a few of the simple techniques he teaches: Define your target performance level: Figure out what your desired level of skill looks like, what you’re trying to achieve, and what you’ll be able to do when you’re done. The more specific, the better. Deconstruct the skill: Most of the things we think of as skills are actually bundles of smaller subskills. If you break down the subcomponents, it’s easier to figure out which ones are most important and practice those first. Eliminate barriers to practice: Removing common distractions and unnecessary effort makes it much easier to sit down and focus on deliberate practice. Create fast feedback loops: Getting accurate, real-time information about how well you’re performing during practice makes it much easier to improve. Whether you want to paint a portrait, launch a start-up, fly an airplane, or juggle flaming chainsaws, The First 20 Hours will help you pick up the basics of any skill in record time . . . and have more fun along the way.

Book I Think There s Something Wrong with Me

Download or read book I Think There s Something Wrong with Me written by Nigel Smith and published by Random House. This book was released on 2008 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here's something I only learned later. When the radiologist was handed the scan, he asked, 'Righto, where's the body?' Shame I missed that. I could have done with a laugh. When Nigel Smith got rushed to hospital with a brain lesion so big that the radiologist assumed he'd died, he was understandably hacked off. After all, he was one of those blokes who had it all: a loving family, a wife his friends all fancied and a thriving TV comedy career. I Think There's Something Wrong With Me is his amazing, hilarious account of his fight for survival. Battling a brutal illness, impossible bureaucracy and nurses that could only serve as fantasies to the writers of Doctor Who, Nigel Smith has produced a brilliant black comedy for our time. It is a book for everyone who's ever thought, 'there must be more to life than this'. Because sometime things have to go seriously wrong to make us realize just how much is right.
