Download or read book Materials Handling in Pyrometallurgy written by C. Twigge-Molecey and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book which describes the world of metallurgical processing is influenced by a variety of factors not directly metallurgical. One major factor in all applications is materials handling. In Pyro-metallurgical processes, the processes are interconnected by materials handling systems which often require a major percentage of plant cost. The systems include sampling, storage, weighing, feeding and transporting of materials which all actively affect the performance of the metallurgical processes. Increasing productivity and improvements to plant environment demand that materials handling be improved. At the same time, sophisticated sampling and control systems are required to optimize the recipes and allow controlled reactions. By using handling technologies that accommodate both the process and the environment, sustainable improvements can be made.
Download or read book Blanding s Practical Physical Distribution written by Warren Blanding and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 841 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea for this Handbook dates back more than a dozen years, to the time when I was commissioned by The Mason and Dixon Lines to develop a handbook that would be useful both to their own people and to their shippers in understanding and applying the basic principles of the then-emerging management science of physical distribution management. Then as now, there were several excellent textbooks in the field. But they were written primarily for classroom use, for persons who would be entering careers in the field at a later date. And there was virtually nothing for the working manager or manager-to-be. Thus we saw the need for a hands-on, practically-oriented guide to physical distribution management, written mainly in non-academic language and supplement ing rather than duplicating the excellent existing coverage of inventory theory, queueing and, other textbook subjects. Bear in mind that the times were quite different, back then. The Na tional Council of Physical Distribution Management (NCPDM) had been in existence barely two years, and had fewer than 200 members. Indeed, there were probably not 100 persons in the country who had the title "Distribution Manager" after their names. Today, of course, the NCPDM has over 2,000 members and the distribution manager title is widely used and recognized. In fact, many who hold the title today were recipients of the original Mason and Dixon materials back then, and quite often car ried the time-honored title of "Traffic Manager.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a textbook about the key three pillars of Material Management; Warehousing, Procurement, and Distribution, and technology trends that being offered to improve these three functions. The book describes all activities and duties of each pillar in detail in order to let readers be familiar with the basic functions of each of them. After explaining the basic responsibilities of (Warehousing, Procurement, and Distribution), the book then moved to focus on the technology applications in each of them, bringing up all new technologies and innovations that have been developed to increase productivity in the three functions and minimize costs and errors. The author concentrated on the results that directly affect customer service, costs, productivity, quality of work, and achieving strategic objectives by implementing such technologies in Material management.
