Book Solutions for Implementing Time of flight Techniques in Low angle Neutron Scattering as Realized on the Low Q Diffractometer at Los Alamos

Download or read book Solutions for Implementing Time of flight Techniques in Low angle Neutron Scattering as Realized on the Low Q Diffractometer at Los Alamos written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The implementation of small-angle (Low-momentum transfer) neutron scattering at pulsed spallation sources, using time of flight methods, has meant the introduction of some new ideas in instrument design, data acquisition, data reduction and computer management of the experiment and the data. Here we recount some of the salient aspects of solutions for implementing time of fight small-angle neutron scattering instruments at pulsed sources, as realized on the Low-Q Diffractometer, LQD, at Los Alamos. We consider, fortlier, some of the problems that are yet to be solved, and take a short excursion into the future of SANS instrumentation at pulsed sources.

Book Time of flight Small angle Neutron Scattering Data Reduction and Analysis at LANSCE with Program SMR

Download or read book Time of flight Small angle Neutron Scattering Data Reduction and Analysis at LANSCE with Program SMR written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A user-friendly integrated system, SMR, for the display, reduction and analysis of data from time-of-flight small-angle neutron diffractometers is described. Its purpose is to provide facilities for data display and assessment, and to provide these facilities in near real time. This allows the results of each scattering measurement to be available almost immediately, and enables the user to use the results of a measurement as a basis for other measurements in the same time allocation of the instrument. 8 refs., 10 figs.

Book Time of flight and dE

Download or read book Time of flight and dE written by and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A review of the current experimental situation in time-of-flight and dE/dx methods of particle identification for nuclides with Z greater than 5 is presented. Different types of both .delta. E and fast timing detectors are discussed and recent experimental results are described. Finally recent results from Los Alamos are presented: the use of an improved time-of-flight technique resulted in the discovery of the neutron-excess isotope 31Mg.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The application of neutron scattering to polymers has been extremely successful during the last two decades. This book presents, for the first time, both the theories and experimental examples which are needed to understand how these techniques can be applied. Now available in paperback forthe first time this book is specifically written to introduce the newcomer and non-expert to the experimental techniques and the basic theory necessary to understand the results.

Book Local Structure from Diffraction

Download or read book Local Structure from Diffraction written by S.J.L. Billinge and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-02-04 with total page 397 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This series of books, which is published at the rate of about one per year, addresses fundamental problems in materials science. The contents cover a broad range of topics from small clusters of atoms to engineering materials and involve chemistry, physics, materials science and engineering, with length scales ranging from Ångstroms up to millimeters. The emphasis is on basic science rather than on applications. Each book focuses on a single area of current interest and brings together leading experts to give an up-to-date discussion of their work and the work of others. Each article contains enough references that the interested reader can access the relevant literature. Thanks are given to the Center for Fundamental Materials Research at Michigan State University for supporting this series. M.F. Thorpe, Series Editor E-mail: thorpe @ pa.msu.edu East Lansing, Michigan PREFACE One of the most challenging problems in the study of structure is to characterize the atomic short-range order in materials. Long-range order can be determined with a high degree of accuracy by analyzing Bragg peak positions and intensities in data from single crystals or powders. However, information about short-range order is contained in the diffuse scattering intensity. This is difficult to analyze because it is low in absolute intensity (though the integrated intensity may be significant) and widely spread in reciprocal space.
