Book Short time Stability in Linear Time varying Systems

Download or read book Short time Stability in Linear Time varying Systems written by Peter Dorato and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of short-time stability finds application in missile and satellite systems where operating times are often of finite duration. Short-time stability assures, in a finite time interval, that all inputs bounded by a prescribed constant Greek epsilon result in outputs bounded by a second prescribed constant. The study of short-time stability is divided into two categories: undriven systems and driven systems. Undriven systems are represented by a set of differential equations. Sufficient conditions for short-time stability are given in terms of the coefficients. Driven systems are represented by their impulse response. A necessary and sufficient condition for short-time stability in driven systems is given directly in terms of impulse response. Sufficient conditions for short-time stability in feedback systems, in terms of the open loop impulse response are also included. In addition the concept of shorttime C-equivalence, essentially a structural stability concept, is introduced. Necessary and sufficient conditions for two systems to be short-time C-equivalent are presented. (Author).

Book Analysis of Periodically Time Varying Systems

Download or read book Analysis of Periodically Time Varying Systems written by John A. Richards and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-12-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many of the practical techniques developed for treating systems described by periodic differential equations have arisen in different fields of application; con sequently some procedures have not always been known to workers in areas that might benefit substantially from them. Furthermore, recent analytical methods are computationally based so that it now seems an opportune time for an applications-oriented book to be made available that, in a sense, bridges the fields in which equations with periodic coefficients arise and which draws together analytical methods that are implemented readily. This book seeks to ftll that role, from a user's and not a theoretician's view. The complexities of periodic systems often demand a computational approach. Matrix treatments therefore are emphasized here although algebraic methods have been included where they are useful in their own right or where they establish properties that can be exploited by the matrix approach. The matrix development given calls upon the nomenclature and treatment of H. D'Angelo, Linear Time Varying Systems: Analysis and Synthesis (Boston: Allyn and Bacon 1970) which deals with time-varying systems in general. It is recommended for its modernity and comprehensive approach to systems analysis by matrix methods. Since the present work is applications-oriented no attempt has been made to be complete theoretically by way of presenting all proofs, existence theorems and so on. These can be found in D'Angelo and classic and well-developed treatises such as McLachlan, N. W. : Theory and application of Mathieu functions.

Book Linear Time Varying Systems

Download or read book Linear Time Varying Systems written by Henri Bourlès and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-04-21 with total page 653 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to propose a new approach to analysis and control of linear time-varying systems. These systems are defined in an intrinsic way, i.e., not by a particular representation (e.g., a transfer matrix or a state-space form) but as they are actually. The system equations, derived, e.g., from the laws of physics, are gathered to form an intrinsic mathematical object, namely a finitely presented module over a ring of operators. This is strongly connected with the engineering point of view, according to which a system is not a specific set of equations but an object of the material world which can be described by equivalent sets of equations. This viewpoint makes it possible to formulate and solve efficiently several key problems of the theory of control in the case of linear time-varying systems. The solutions are based on algebraic analysis. This book, written for engineers, is also useful for mathematicians since it shows how algebraic analysis can be applied to solve engineering problems. Henri Bourlès is a Professor and holds the industrial automation chair at the Conservatoire national des arts et métiers in France. He has been teaching automation for over 20 years in engineering and graduate schools. Bogdan Marinescu is currently research engineer at the French Transmission System Operator (RTE) and Associate Professor at SATIE-Ecole Normale Supérieure de Cachan.

Book Stability and Control of Nonlinear Time varying Systems

Download or read book Stability and Control of Nonlinear Time varying Systems written by Shuli Guo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-12 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents special systems derived from industrial models, including the complex saturation nonlinear functions and the delay nonlinear functions. It also presents typical methods, such as the classical Liapunov and Integral Inequalities methods. Providing constructive qualitative and stability conditions for linear systems with saturated inputs in both global and local contexts, it offers practitioners more concise model systems for modern saturation nonlinear techniques, which have the potential for future applications. This book is a valuable guide for researchers and graduate students in the fields of mathematics, control, and engineering.

Book Time Varying Systems and Computations

Download or read book Time Varying Systems and Computations written by Patrick DeWilde and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-12-03 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complex function theory and linear algebra provide much of the basic mathematics needed by engineers engaged in numerical computations, signal processing or control. The transfer function of a linear time invariant system is a function of the complex vari able s or z and it is analytic in a large part of the complex plane. Many important prop erties of the system for which it is a transfer function are related to its analytic prop erties. On the other hand, engineers often encounter small and large matrices which describe (linear) maps between physically important quantities. In both cases similar mathematical and computational problems occur: operators, be they transfer functions or matrices, have to be simplified, approximated, decomposed and realized. Each field has developed theory and techniques to solve the main common problems encountered. Yet, there is a large, mysterious gap between complex function theory and numerical linear algebra. For example, complex function theory has solved the problem to find analytic functions of minimal complexity and minimal supremum norm that approxi e. g. , as optimal mate given values at strategic points in the complex plane. They serve approximants for a desired behavior of a system to be designed. No similar approxi mation theory for matrices existed until recently, except for the case where the matrix is (very) close to singular.

Book Stability and Stabilization of Linear and Fuzzy Time Delay Systems

Download or read book Stability and Stabilization of Linear and Fuzzy Time Delay Systems written by Rajeeb Dey and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-24 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a clear understanding in formulating stability analysis and state feedback control of retarded time delay systems using Lyapunov’s second method in an LMI framework. The chapters offer a clear overview of the evolution of stability analysis in terms of the construction of a Lyapunov functional and use of the integral inequalities in order to reduce the gap of delay upper bound estimate compared to frequency domain method through existing and proposed stability theorems. Power system engineering problem has been presented here to give readers fair idea on applicability of the model and method for solving engineering problems. Without deviating from the framework of analysis more complex dynamics of the system have been dealt with here that includes actuator saturation and thereby ascertaining local stability for an estimated time-delay and domain of attraction. Nonlinearity in a time-delay system has been dealt with in the T-S fuzzy modeling approach. This book is useful as a textbook for Master’s students and advanced researcher working in the field of control system engineering, and for practicing engineers dealing with such complex dynamical systems. The strengths of the book are lucidity of presentation, lucidity of solution method, MATLAB programs given in the appendix that help the novice researcher to carry out research in this area independently, clear idea about the formulation of desired stability and control problem in a LMI framework, application problem provided can motivate students and researcher to recast their problems in the similar framework easily, helpful for readers to use the stability (stabilization) conditions or formulate their own stability conditions easily for a complicated linear or nonlinear dynamical system.

Book Matrix Diagonal Stability in Systems and Computation

Download or read book Matrix Diagonal Stability in Systems and Computation written by Eugenius Kaszkurewicz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents a collection of results, observations, and examples related to dynamical systems described by linear and nonlinear ordinary differential and difference equations. In particular, dynamical systems that are susceptible to analysis by the Liapunov approach are considered. The naive observation that certain "diagonal-type" Liapunov functions are ubiquitous in the literature attracted the attention of the authors and led to some natural questions. Why does this happen so often? What are the spe cial virtues of these functions in this context? Do they occur so frequently merely because they belong to the simplest class of Liapunov functions and are thus more convenient, or are there any more specific reasons? This monograph constitutes the authors' synthesis of the work on this subject that has been jointly developed by them, among others, producing and compiling results, properties, and examples for many years, aiming to answer these questions and also to formalize some of the folklore or "cul ture" that has grown around diagonal stability and diagonal-type Liapunov functions. A natural answer to these questions would be that the use of diagonal type Liapunov functions is frequent because of their simplicity within the class of all possible Liapunov functions. This monograph shows that, although this obvious interpretation is often adequate, there are many in stances in which the Liapunov approach is best taken advantage of using diagonal-type Liapunov functions. In fact, they yield necessary and suffi cient stability conditions for some classes of nonlinear dynamical systems.

Book Methods of Analysis For Linear Systems with Time Varying Parameters

Download or read book Methods of Analysis For Linear Systems with Time Varying Parameters written by Donald Gerrad MacDougall and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The thesis presents a comparative study of frequency domain and state variable (time domain) methods for the solution of linear time varying systems. Stability criteria for linear feedback systems, where the time variation is limited to the feedback loop, are considered. In comparing state variable and frequency domain solutions, the conclusion is reached that state variable methods are more useful. Experimental computer results are presented which indicate that, for the feedback system considered, sufficient conditions for stability can be refined by considering the system to be dual mode (a stable mode and an unstable mode), and by considering which mode predominates. Book Properties of Time varying Linear Systems

Download or read book Properties of Time varying Linear Systems written by Allen Gersho and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A time-frequency duality is used to lead to a more complete characterization of time-varying linear systems. Several system functions are defined, which may be used to relate the input and output signals in different ways. In particular, a new transfer function is introduced that is dual to Zadeh's H transfer function for time-varying systems. The use of this transfer function leads to a new class of separable models for synthesizing time-varying systems. It is shown that under appropriate conditions either transfer function is determined uniquely from its real part. A new synthesis procedure based on the real-part sufficiency of the transfer function is described. (Author).
