It should be Liv’s dream career—she’s working closely with a bureau legend, Agent Streeter Pierce, as well as the exotic Agent Jack Linwood, with whom she shares a growing romance. Liv has proven to be an adept agent, and the whole office has been moved to a brand new, state-of-the-art facility in central Denver. And yet, doubt plagues her. Liv is tormented by the knowledge that her work with the FBI could endanger her extended family—and has almost resolved to leave the bureau as a result. Agent Streeter Pierce, who harbors an affection for Liv that sometimes transcends the professional, comes up with an unorthodox plan to keep her around: she can investigate a cold case that’s especially important to her, the kidnapping and murder of her ten-year-old niece, Brianna. Liv jumps at the chance, but her focus on finding Brianna’s killer is soon diluted. Piece by piece, the case reveals itself to be just one point in a harrowing series of murders. Spanning decades and the country, the web of crime Liv uncovers causes her to question everything—including the integrity of her own colleagues. www.sandrabrannan.com

Book Whispers of His Movement

Download or read book Whispers of His Movement written by Gina Gallagher and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2013-09-23 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is nothing more intimidating than a full mind and an empty page. It is wonderful to notice things, to be aware, to ponder as you go about your day. The thoughts bubble over and fill every cranial crevice. There is a desperate need to deposit them somewhere. So in that desperation, Whispers Of His Movement was born. I like the fact that it was birthed in desperation, because that is what I am. I am desperate and in need of God's amazing grace. The Whispers Of His Movement, the seemingly silent, imperceptible, Sovereign moments that happen each day, the ones we often miss in our busyness and self-absorption. Journey with me, as He whispers. Gina Gallagher is a woman with a heart for God and all He has for her--and us. She shares with honesty and insight how God fits into real life and enriches every day. -Gayle Roper, www.widowsjourney.com The Lord graced me with the gift of fellowship with Gina Gallagher, many years ago. She is the Proverbs 31 woman serving our Lord today. Her tender love for the Lord and for others is a divine gift. While we live many states and miles apart, one day on the phone she shared about the Father's whispers in her daily life. 'Whispers of His Movement' was birthed in her heart then. I always knew she should write from her walk with the Lord, taking His teaching onto others. May your day be extra blessed to hear these whispers from Abba Father too. Book Whispers from the Mountain Lessons from God and the Pillars of Christianity

Download or read book Whispers from the Mountain Lessons from God and the Pillars of Christianity written by Tom Reed and published by LifeRich Publishing. This book was released on 2021-09-03 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tom Reed follows up on his earlier devotionals to highlight the Word of God in Whispers from the Mountain. The devotionals are short and saturated with references from Scripture and extensive commentary to help you walk with the Lord. The book begins by asking you to imagine that there is a knock on your door, and instead of an unwanted salesman or neighbor, it’s God. He writes, “God often sent angels as messengers to convey an important message. The angel, Gabriel, was sent from God to visit a virgin named Mary, and coming in, he said to her, ‘Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.’” (Luke 1:26–28) “Sometimes God talks directly to Man. God and Moses had their first conversation through a burning bush. God and the soon to be great prophet, Isiah, had a conversation without an angel or bush. Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, “Whom shall I send and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here I am. Send me!” (IS 6:8). The emphasis of the book are the pillars of Christianity, with ten devotionals under each pillar. A tenth section titled “Stones” serves as a catch-all to recognize other potential pillars. By using this book in tandem with your personal Bible, you’ll be encouraged to dig deeper into God’s Word, paving the way to develop a stronger bond and closer relationship with Him.

Book King Solomon s Troubles

Download or read book King Solomon s Troubles written by Zoe Senesh and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2013-05 with total page 245 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Both ancient and modern Israel are featured in this book. Stories about King Solomon, who built the first temple in ancient Jerusalem, are woven together with stories of four women and their men in modern-day Israel. Historical accounts say that King Solomon was extraordinarily wealthy and wise that he had the ability to seduce any woman he wanted, and that he had seven hundred wives and three hundred concubines. He had it all--so why did he always yearn for more? Rachel is a twenty-fi rst-century enigma. A sex therapist with her own dark secrets, she spends her life helping others with their relationships. But her professional expertise hasn't magically healed her of her own pain and obsessions. The pursuit of happiness is just as challenging for her as it is for her clients. What's missing? Sarah is an American transplant to Israel whose confusion about men gets in the way of her desire to marry one; Fatima, a Muslim feminist who feels trapped in Jerusalem, knows she can have more; and Galit, a free-spirited Israeli woman, enjoys the company of men--a little too much. These women want to determine the direction of their lives, instead of letting others decide how they should live. In an act of literary time travel, author Zoe Senesh spins tales of the human condition, attesting that as far as the heart is concerned, little has fundamentally changed since Biblical times.

Book Whispers of Rebellion

  • Author : Michael L. Nicholls

Download or read book Whispers of Rebellion written by Michael L. Nicholls and published by University of Virginia Press. This book was released on 2012-02-15 with total page 415 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ambitious but abortive plan to revolt that ended in the conviction and hanging of over two dozen men, Gabriel’s Conspiracy of 1800 sought nothing less than to capture the capital city of Richmond and end slavery in Virginia. Whispers of Rebellion draws on recent scholarship and extensive archival material to provide the clearest view yet of this fascinating chapter in the history of slavery—and to question much about the case that has been accepted as fact. In his examination of the slave Gabriel and his group of insurgents, Michael Nicholls focuses on the neighborhood of the Brook, north of Richmond, as the plot’s locus, revealing the area’s economic and familial ties, the geographic proximity of the key conspirators, and how their contacts allowed their plan to spread across three counties and into the cities of Richmond and Petersburg. Nicholls explores underdocumented aspects of the conspiracy, such as the participants’ recruitment and motives, showing them to be less ideologically driven than previously supposed. The author also looks at the state’s swift and brutal response, and argues persuasively that, rather than the coalition between blacks and whites that has been described in other accounts, the participants were all slaves or free blacks, suffering under an oppressive white population and willing to die for their freedom.
