Book Sustainable Air Conditioning Systems

Download or read book Sustainable Air Conditioning Systems written by Chaouki Ghenai and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2018-06-13 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Air conditioning system is one of the major consumers of electrical energy in many parts of the world today. It represents between 40 and 70% of the energy consumption in commercial buildings. The demand of energy for air conditioning systems is expected to increase further in the next decades due to the population growth, the new economic boom, and the urbanization development. The rapid growth of air conditioning and electricity consumption will contribute further to climate change if fossil and nonrenewable resources are used. More energy-efficient and renewable energy-based air conditioning systems to accomplish space cooling are needed. This book intends to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the current state of the art in sustainable air conditioning technologies and focus on the most recent research and development on green air conditioning systems including energy-efficient and renewable energy-based air conditioning systems.

Book Solar Heating Systems for Houses

Download or read book Solar Heating Systems for Houses written by Werner Weiss and published by Earthscan. This book was released on 2003-11 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of solar collectors for domestic hot water over the past 20 years has demonstrated that solar heating systems are now founded on a reliable and mature technology. However, the development of similar, but more complex, systems to provide both domestic hot water and space heating (solar combisystems) resulted in a diverse range of different designs that were not carefully optimized to reflect local climate and practice. Application of energy-efficient building strategies such as improved thermal insulation and use of low temperature heat supply systems is becoming increasingly common. This trend, combined with growing environmental awareness and the subsidies available in certain countries, favours an increase in market share for solar combisystems. The need for guidelines in selecting the appropriate system and designing this system according to the specific needs of the building and the local environment is therefore now increasingly pressing. This book fills that need.

Book Design and Operation of a Solar Heating and Cooling System for a Residential Size Building

Download or read book Design and Operation of a Solar Heating and Cooling System for a Residential Size Building written by J. W. Littles and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first year of operation of solar house is discussed. Selected design information, together with a brief system description is included. The house was equipped with an integrated solar heating and cooling system which uses fully automated state-of-the art. Evaluation of the data indicate that the solar house heating and cooling system is capable of supplying nearly 100 percent of the thermal energy required for heating and approximately 50 percent of the thermal energy required to operate the absorption cycle air conditioner.

Book The Solar House

    Book Details:
  • Author : Daniel D. Chiras
  • Publisher : Chelsea Green Publishing
  • Release : 2002
  • ISBN : 1931498121
  • Pages : 288 pages

Download or read book The Solar House written by Daniel D. Chiras and published by Chelsea Green Publishing. This book was released on 2002 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While heat from sunlight and ventilation from breezes is free for the taking, few modern architects or builders really understand the principles involved. Yet "natural conditioning"--Heating and cooling with passive solar techniques -- is a viable alternative to fossil fuels. Acknowledging the good intentions of misguided solar designers in the past, the author highlights certain egregious errors and shows how to avoid them. The author shows how to select a cost-effective, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly backup heating system; how to preserve indoor air quality in an airtight, energy-efficient home; and ways of employing green building materials in a naturally conditioned home.

Book The Solar Cooling Design Guide

Download or read book The Solar Cooling Design Guide written by Daniel Mugnier and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-08-31 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solar cooling systems can be a cost-effective and environmentally attractive air-conditioning solution. The design of such systems, however, is complex. Research carried out under the aegis of the International Energy Agency's Solar Heating and Cooling Program has shown that there is a range of seemingly subtle design decisions that can impact significantly on the performance of solar cooling systems. In order to reduce the risk of errors in the design process, this guide provides detailed and very specific engineering design information. It focuses on case study examples of installed plants that have been monitored and evaluated over the last decade. For three successful plants the design process is described in detail and the rationale for each key design decision is explained. Numerical constraints are suggested for the sizing / selection parameters of key equipment items. Moreover, the application conditions under which the system selection is appropriate are discussed. By following The Guide for any of the three specific solar cooling systems, the designer can expect to reliably achieve a robust, energy-saving solution. This book is intended as a companion to the IEA Solar Cooling Handbook which provides a general overview of the various technologies as well as comprehensive advice to enable engineers to design their own solar cooling system from first principles.

Book Advances in Solar Heating and Cooling

Download or read book Advances in Solar Heating and Cooling written by Ruzhu Wang and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2016-05-25 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Solar Heating and Cooling presents new information on the growing concerns about climate change, the security of energy supplies, and the ongoing interest in replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy sources. The amount of energy used for heating and cooling is very significant, estimated, for example, as half of final energy consumption in Europe. Solar thermal installations have the potential to meet a large proportion of the heating and cooling needs of both buildings and industry and the number of solar thermal installations is increasing rapidly. This book provides an authoritative review of the latest research in solar heating and cooling technologies and applications. Provides researchers in academia and industry with an authoritative overview of heating and cooling for buildings and industry in one convenient volume Part III, ‘Solar cooling technologies’ is contributed by authors from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which is a world-leader in this area Covers advanced applications from zero-energy buildings, through industrial process heat to district heating and cooling
