De nombreuses annexes, clôturant le chapitre sur les techniques de soins, portent sur les thèmes suivants : le drainage thoracique, la trachéotomie en réanimation, les hypovolémies particulières, le cathéter de Swan-Ganz et la mort encéphalique. Toutes les thématiques sont illustrées par de nombreux schémas et photographies en couleurs. Tout au long de l'ouvrage, de nombreuses fiches « Acte et surveillance infirmiers » décrivent les différents soins et des fiches « Situation intégrative » mettent en évidence la conduite à tenir de l'infirmière auprès du patient.
