Book Software and Systems Engineering

Download or read book Software and Systems Engineering written by and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: The purpose of the ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 series of software testing standards is to define an internationally-agreed set of standards for software testing that can be used by any organization when performing any form of software testing. ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-2 comprises test process descriptions that define the software testing processes at the organizational level, test management level and dynamic test levels. It supports dynamic testing, functional and non-functional testing, manual and automated testing, and scripted and unscripted testing. The processes defined in ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-2 can be used in conjunction with any software development lifecycle model. Since testing is a key approach to risk-mitigation in software development, ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-2 follows a risk-based approach to testing. Risk-based testing is a common industry approach to strate gizing and managing testing. Risk-based testing allows testing to be prioritized and focused on the most important features and functions. Keywords: 29119, 29119-1, software testing, Test Planning Process, Test Plan, verification and validation.

Book excerpt: Abstract: The purpose of the ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 series of software testing standards is to define an internationally-agreed set of standards for software testing that can be used by any organization when performing any form of software testing. ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-3 includes templates and examples of test documentation. The templates are arranged within clauses reflecting the overall test process description structure in ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-2, i.e. by the test process in which they are being produced. Annex A contains outlines of the contents of each document. Annex B contains mappings ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-2. Annex C contains an overview of the examples. Annexes D to S contain examples of the application of the templates. Annex T provides mappings to existing standards. The Bibliography for this part of ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 is at the end of the document. ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-3 supports dynamic testing, functional and non-functional testing, manual and automated testing, and scripted and unscripted testing. The documentation templates defined in ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119-3 can be used in conjunction with any software development lifecycle model. The book offers a practical understanding of all the most critical software testing topics and their relationships and inter-dependencies. This unique resource utilizes a wealth of graphics that support the discussions to offer a clear overview of software testing, from the definition of testing and the value and purpose of testing, through the complete testing process with all its activities, techniques and documentation, to the softer aspects of people and teams working with testing. Practitioners find numerous examples and exercises presented in each chapter to help ensure a complete understanding of the material. The book supports the ISTQB certification and provides a bridge from this to the ISO 29119 Software Testing Standard in terms of extensive mappings between the two; this is a truly unique feature.

Book Software and Systems Engineering

Download or read book Software and Systems Engineering written by International Organization for Standardization and published by . This book was released on 2022 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The purpose of the ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 series is to define an internationally agreed set of standards for software testing that can be used by any organization when performing any form of software testing and using any life cycle. It is recognized that there are many different types of software, software organizations, and methodologies. Software domains include information technology (IT), personal computers (PC), embedded, mobile, scientific and many other classifications. Software organizations range from small to large, co-located to world-wide, and commercial to those providing a public service. Software development methodologies include object-oriented, traditional, agile and DevOps. These and other factors influence software testing. The ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 series can support testing in many different contexts. This document facilitates the use of other parts in the ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 series by introducing the general concepts on which the ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 series is built."--Introduction, page vii.

Book Advanced Testing of Systems of Systems Volume 2

Download or read book Advanced Testing of Systems of Systems Volume 2 written by Bernard Homès and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-12-07 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As a society today, we are so dependent on systems-of-systems that any malfunction has devastating consequences, both human and financial. Their technical design, functional complexity and numerous interfaces justify a significant investment in testing in order to limit anomalies and malfunctions. Based on more than 40 years of practice, this book goes beyond the simple testing of an application – already extensively covered by other authors – to focus on methodologies, techniques, continuous improvement processes, load estimates, metrics and reporting, which are illustrated by a case study. It also discusses several challenges for the near future. Pragmatic and clear, this book displays many examples and references that will help you improve the quality of your systemsof-systems efficiently and effectively and lead you to identify the impact of upstream decisions and their consequences. Advanced Testing of Systems-of-Systems 2 deals with the practical implementation and use of the techniques and methodologies proposed in the first volume.

Book excerpt: Explores and identifies the main issues, concepts, principles and evolution of software testing, including software quality engineering and testing concepts, test data generation, test deployment analysis, and software test management This book examines the principles, concepts, and processes that are fundamental to the software testing function. This book is divided into five broad parts. Part I introduces software testing in the broader context of software engineering and explores the qualities that testing aims to achieve or ascertain, as well as the lifecycle of software testing. Part II covers mathematical foundations of software testing, which include software specification, program correctness and verification, concepts of software dependability, and a software testing taxonomy. Part III discusses test data generation, specifically, functional criteria and structural criteria. Test oracle design, test driver design, and test outcome analysis is covered in Part IV. Finally, Part V surveys managerial aspects of software testing, including software metrics, software testing tools, and software product line testing. Presents software testing, not as an isolated technique, but as part of an integrated discipline of software verification and validation Proposes program testing and program correctness verification within the same mathematical model, making it possible to deploy the two techniques in concert, by virtue of the law of diminishing returns Defines the concept of a software fault, and the related concept of relative correctness, and shows how relative correctness can be used to characterize monotonic fault removal Presents the activity of software testing as a goal oriented activity, and explores how the conduct of the test depends on the selected goal Covers all phases of the software testing lifecycle, including test data generation, test oracle design, test driver design, and test outcome analysis Software Testing: Concepts and Operations is a great resource for software quality and software engineering students because it presents them with fundamentals that help them to prepare for their ever evolving discipline.
