Book Sodium Fluoride PET CT in Clinical Use

Download or read book Sodium Fluoride PET CT in Clinical Use written by Kalevi Kairemo and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-04 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This pocket book is the first of its kind on sodium fluoride (18F-NaF)-PET and addresses skeletal as well as cardiovascular applications. In malignant metastatic diseases 18F-NaF-PET has already demonstrated its benefits in cancer staging, re-staging, follow-up and response evaluation. It also has an emerging diagnostic role in the calcified soft-tissue metastases of primary bone tumours, and can be applied to evaluate cardiovascular diseases, such as calcifications in heart valves and peripheral vascular disease. The book is divided into 11 chapters: five on oncology, four addressing the general aspects of skeletal conditions, and two on cardiovascular diseases. It offers a valuable guide for referring colleagues, nuclear medicine physicians/radiologists and aid clinicians, and highlights the main applications and limitations of 18F-NaF-PET hybrid imaging (PET/CT).

Book Relative Efficacy of Sodium Fluoride and Sodium Monofluorophosphate as Anti caries Agents in Dentifrices

Download or read book Relative Efficacy of Sodium Fluoride and Sodium Monofluorophosphate as Anti caries Agents in Dentifrices written by William H. Bowen and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is universally agreed that there has been an enormous decline in the prevalence of dental caries in some segments of the community. This decline has, to a considerable degree, been attributed to the universal availability of fluoride, either in the public drinking water or through the use of fluoridated toothpastes. In many countries, water is not fluoridated, and clearly in such places, the decline is due to the prevalence of caries can be attributed to the use of fluoridated toothpastes.

Book Promoting Oral Health

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book bears witness to the effectiveness of salt fluoridation for the mass reduction of dental caries in the population. The first part traces the history of salt fluoridation programmes beginning from the earliest attempts in Switzerland in the 1950s to more recent success stories in Europe and the Americas. The second section is a how-to treatise for planning launching running monitoring and evaluating salt fluoridation programmes. The third section presents recommendations for launching a salt fluoridation programme blueprints for proposing and enacting salt fluoridation legislation and detailed standardized research protocols and sample forms for conducting epidemiological research - all of them essential tools for policy makers health planners and health workers.

Download or read book Pharmacology of Fluorides written by Frank A. Smith and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-27 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is the completion of work initially planned several years ago as a compilation of selected aspects of the biological effects of fluorides. The first portion appeared in Volume XXII (1966) of this Handbuch, under the title "Pharmacology of Fluorides, Part 1. " Inasmuch as the present volume is an integral part of the original project, justification for offering it to the scientific community remains the same as that originally set forth. This may be recapitulated as follows. The tremendous increase in the annual production of fluorides over the amounts produced thirty years ago, together with the increased diversity of their uses has correspondingly increased the hazard associated with these materials. That is to say, the possibilities of encountering their characteristic toxic effects under the conditions of their use has increased because the variety, amounts and ways of usage have increased. Their inherent toxicity, of course has not changed, but the increased hazard has led to a vast increase in the amount and scope of research reported. It is the purpose of these volumes to review selected aspects of this literature. Rochester, N. Y. , February 1970 FRANK A. SMITH Acknowledgements Even the casual reader of this volume will soon realize that contributing authors, as well as those contributing to its predecessor, Volume XX/I, have made good use of tables of data, figures and pertinent quotations from previously published work.

  • Author : National Research Council
  • Publisher : National Academies Press
  • Release : 2007-01-22
  • ISBN : 030910128X
  • Pages : 531 pages

Download or read book Fluoride in Drinking Water written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2007-01-22 with total page 531 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most people associate fluoride with the practice of intentionally adding fluoride to public drinking water supplies for the prevention of tooth decay. However, fluoride can also enter public water systems from natural sources, including runoff from the weathering of fluoride-containing rocks and soils and leaching from soil into groundwater. Fluoride pollution from various industrial emissions can also contaminate water supplies. In a few areas of the United States fluoride concentrations in water are much higher than normal, mostly from natural sources. Fluoride is one of the drinking water contaminants regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) because it can occur at these toxic levels. In 1986, the EPA established a maximum allowable concentration for fluoride in drinking water of 4 milligrams per liter, a guideline designed to prevent the public from being exposed to harmful levels of fluoride. Fluoride in Drinking Water reviews research on various health effects from exposure to fluoride, including studies conducted in the last 10 years.
